My kiddos definitely had different experiences there because of the kids and types of families in the class. My eldest, the parents in the class were horrible! Uppity, judgmental and snooty. Horrible people who acted like their kids are impressionable (not!). I've actually learned later on that their kids were horrible bullies, which is not surprising considering how their moms acted (the dads were fine, moms were drama). If their kid's status was threatened by a smarter, more athletic child, best believe some moms in that class won't hesitate to bully a 12 year old. My youngest, on the other hand, had an amazing time at STA. Her class was tight knit thanks to better parents with excellent parenting and people skills. It was an inclusive and supportive group. They were focused on the kids and not the parent clicks. Definitely a night and day experience.

I mean,…read morehow could you not love cutting class and walking around Lodi Lake or going to a house party during 3rd period? It's so funny to go back to Lodi during the holidays and see everyone who is still there. I thought the motto at Lodi High was, "Can't wait to get out of this town" but apparently there wasn't much follow through. My fear is that too many teens are drinking way too much b/c there's not enough to do. I knew at least 20 people who graduated as alcoholics. It's a problem that's faced students in Lodi for a long, long time, and something needs to be done about it. I thought I received an adequate education at Lodi High, but looking back it was kind of a joke. During my sophomore & junior years I had like 70 absences from cutting school, yet I maintained a 4.0 in AP/Honors classes. So, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to pass on through. But maybe things have changed? Go Flames!

I didn't read the other reviews in detail because when the race card comes up it's a "oh it's one of them" response from most people. There are kids their from all backgrounds colors and languages, ditto for the parents. Its a great environment for the children. This school is known for its blatant racism. I personally experienced and know others who have as…read morewell. The racism came down from the faculty to the kids attending and their parents. Nothing was done when issues of racism and bullying were brought to the principal's attention. Nothing was done to make it a safe and supportive environment for children of color or kids of from lower income families. Over the years I have continued to hear stories similar to mine. The sentiment I got is that they will gladly take your money, but not care for the wellbeing of your kids nor create an environment conducive for their spiritual growth... which is the whole point of sending them to a Christian school. I do not recommend anyone enrolling their child here.

As parents, we were looking for a school that doesn't just teach academics but actively walks alongside families to equip students in their faith and social lives. Because it is a smaller, Christ-centered community, every student is deeply known, mentored, and cared for by a staff that is firmly grounded in their faith. What makes the Elliot experience special: * Spiritual Growth: Weekly chapels and intentional small groups provide a space for students to be equipped and grow in their walk with Christ. * Intentional Mentorship: The teachers and coaches are incredible mentors. Our daughter was on the cheerleading squad, and the coaches did so much more than teach technique--they encouraged and challenged her spiritually throughout the season. * Academic Excellence: The school is WASC accredited, offering College Prep, Honors, and AP courses to ensure students are ready for the future. * The "Full" High School Experience: Don't let the small size fool you! Students have incredible opportunities to get involved through: * Athletics: Cross country, flag football, volleyball, cheer, basketball, softball, baseball, and golf. * Student Life: Formal dances, pep rallies, and various clubs. If you are looking for a place where your child will be challenged academically, supported spiritually, and given the chance to participate in all the "fun things" high school has to offer, I highly encourage you to visit Jim Elliot. It is a wonderful community where your student can truly belong.
