let me start by saying this review is based on value, not how super duper fancy the hotel was. ok…read moreso the hotel is old.. and yes, there are certain things you get from an old structure. you get uniqueness and coziness. but you also get old plumbing. so yes the bathtub doesn't have a curtain (nor any sort of barrier that keeps the water in the tub), but the water pressure will blow your doors off and the staff is genuinely top notch and super sweet and they will be happy the mop up the big puddle of water outside the tub each morning. seriously i loved the staff. they were super helpful with all my questions on navigating the dolomites and where the parking lot was (this was a bit sarcastic as the parking lot was quite difficult to find even after parking there for 3 days). but look, this is the least expensive hotel in town (at least it was when i booked) and i had a very comfortable experience there. great location, great staff, great price. definitely recommend if you're looking for a (close to) 4-star hotel at 3-star price.

Close enough for a light walk to restaurants and stores, but just far enough away to be away from the hustle and bustle. All in all, you can't find a better place to stay in Cortina. Service was excellent and I have to give a shoutout to Diego who checked us in to the hotel and served us at the restaurant. Knowledgeable about the food and gave perfect descriptions of the descriptions of the meals with recommendations that were true. The atmosphere was just what I wanted. Close to Cortina but outside the busy business district. It sits on a hill in a green pasture surrounded by the beauty of the Dolomites. It is very quiet at night. Rooms are rustic with modern facilities. Very clean. Would love to come back.

Claudio, the current owner, was fluent in English, a very helpful attribute for an American tourist. He was knowledgeable about the area and able to help us explore the town and surrounding hiking trails. And when we missed our last bus into town, he drove us there himself! The other staff were friendly and helpful as well. The hotel itself was a pleasant 30 minute walk from the town center by a well-paved path surrounded by gorgeous scenery. It was also a 5 minute drive into town by bus or car. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served regularly, with many options that varied each day. All the food was delicious - though I preferred the restaurants in the town center. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and came with en suite bathrooms. Wifi was available and the connection was strong. All in all, I would highly recommend the Hotel des Alpes to anyone traveling to Cortina.
