Rates are very reasonable, however in this case you do get what you pay for. My case started as uncontested - but later changed. Communication with the attorney himself is limited and managed by his paralegal. Tammy was professional and responsive, however when speaking to Jesus himself he seemed unfamiliar with my case. He never gave me the feeling he cared and appeared to be content with whatever the "norm" for the state was vs. fighting for my rights as a father. At the temporary hearing, Jesus was timid, and outmatched by the opposing counsel. No-one from the firm prepared me for court. I had never been to court before and informed them of this, and even asked what I should expect. I wasn't given any guidance whatsoever. I didn't know I was going to take the stand and answer questions from both attorneys. He had several opportunities to redirect as well as address discrepancies from my wife's testimony and income to expenses, but did not. At the end, he expressed to the judge he had a flight to catch, and the lightbulb moment came on for me. This man threatened me with litigation over $70.00…read more This office is affiliated with New Braunfels Title. I live in another state. Mr. Low was asked to prepare a deed for a transfer of property me. I owned two lots with my former spouse, one of which just sold on 7/31. The second one was being transferred to me as my sold and separate property. The request was made of him on Aug 12, two days after I received the final executed closing docs. When I received the deed, it inexplicably referred to both lots, included the lot that I had just sold days before. I was also sent an invoice for $100, which surprised me because I was under the impression that this had already been covered. (I had asked that these two transactions take place simultaneously.) It turned out that there was a miscommunication between the title company and his office regarding the lots. They just sent him the GS info and the sale was so new it had not yet been reflected on the record, so he just went with what was there. Understandable. HOWEVER, when I mentioned this to my lawyer here (this act has bearing on my divorce settlement), he told me that the fee would normally include the act of recording the deed on my behalf. So I contacted the lawyer directly and asked a) should I send the (already) executed deed to him for recordation and b) can I pay him electronically. He had no idea who I was, asked me all kinds of questions, finally "found" the deed in his files and sent me the blank deed that still contained the wrong information. When I told him that what he sent me was wrong, he started asking me if I'd paid him yet. I told him I had planned to pay when the deed was recorded. He said he wouldn't record it until I paid him. In my frustration, I declined and said that I didn't feel I should have to pay the fee because it was wrong in the first place. That's when he started with the threats. Mind you, he was just going to take my $100 and not record the deed if I hadn't asked. It was only after I contacted him that he said he would advance the $30 recordation fee out of the $100 and record it. I emailed him yesterday and said that I would in fact pay him the $70.00 for the deed prep since it did not appear that it was his fault. His response? "I'm done with you." Verty toxic. I had to ask him if that meant he didn't want his money that he said was "due and owing." No response. I'm gonna pay him anyway because he did the work and as I said, I acknowledged to him that it was not his fault. But he threatened me with litigation over $70.00.
