Most of my at-home vehicle maintenance is generally done during weird hours to avoid the watchful eyes of the HOA rule crew. In most situations, I've given up and simply take my car to the mechanic; paying for labor and hoping the work is done correctly. This past weekend, I visited Shadetree for the first time. There are four open bays (two with lifts) and tons of tools. The shop is heated (nice when its cold outside), and the owner is super helpful (side note: Ask him about his track days.) Being able to change out the transmission and diff fluids, on one of their lifts, in a heated garage during winter, was easly worth the bay rental change (the prices are more than reasonable.) I left D&J a voicemail at 4:30 on a Friday night to get a second opinion. He called me back within 15 minutes and explained all of my options better than the other shop and the car insurance company combined. Then, on Monday, once I had seen the car and taken pictures, he gave me a $100 solution to what the other company wanted $3300 for (and should have seen in the first estimate) and said another piece they claimed needed to be fixed was structurally sound. He offered to work with me to get secondhand parts to fit within my budget if I chose to salvage the car or drop the insurance claim- and I never paid him a dime for his services! I wish I would have taken our car to D&J instead of going through insurance and the other company. They are honest, communicative and truly have the customer's best interests in mind!

I went the next day to get several belongings out of my vehicle. I spoke with Mike (owner) and asked him if my vehicle was totaled. (It was pretty close to being totaled). He laughed and said it was no where near being totaled, and it was only about 5,000 worth of damage. I used to work at a car dealership, I know how a body shop works. They don't want it to be totaled, no money in their pocket. I immediately called Bill's Auto Body and had my vehicle removed from Mike's and towed to Bill's. They did an estimate for 10,545.43. And it only needs to be 11,500 to be totaled. So YES, it was in fact very close to being totaled. Bill's were absolutely amazing to me!
