We had a fantastic trip with Phil. We launched as soon as we arrived and where fishing in about 45 minutes. I took out myself and four teenage kids on this trip. We stopped to pick up bait out of his pods and saw several sharks swarming around the bait site. These were pretty good sized sharks I will add. It was pretty cool to see. Check out my video! After we collected our bait we headed out. We had to go out to federal waters to fish so we went 10 miles off shore I believe. The first spot we stopped in there were a pod of dolphins hanging out seemingly waiting for us to bring them some fish up for them. Phil said that "this is the worst thing that could happen to us" so we left that area and headed to another. Phil took time to explain what to do to the kids and made sure they were taken care of with bait first. I appreciated his attention to detail and his witty banter with them. When we got to the new spot, he baited us all up and had us all drop to the bottom at the same time. It wasn't two minutes before we were catching fish. One after another we started reeling them up. As we were bringing them up, two of us had sharks come and snatch our catches off of the line. We then bailed on that spot because of the sharks. Arrived at another spot and had the same luck. It's like this man knows exactly where to drop bait to reel up fish fast. Every spot we visited was like this. Phil even communicated with another Captain about the luck we were having and he headed over to our spot to fish. He seemed to appreciate the help and in no time his group was catching fish. They didn't seem to have much luck until Phil called him over. We then moved to a spot to catch Amberjack. We caught a few but they were too small to keep. We caught our limit of Red Snapper after throwing several back, landed a big triggerfish we had to release due to season being over, and caught a few other random fish as well. All in all it was a fantastic trip! Phil and his wife cleaned and cut the fish into nice fillets for us once we hit the beach. What a haul!!! ***HEADS UP*** Here is a note about Greyton Beach though. Sharks are really close to the beach. In fact, as we were pulling up to get on the trailer we saw a 5 ft shark swimming between a group of beach goers. They were completely oblivious to it. It was literally in 3-4 ft deep water probably 20 yards from shore. I feel like the bait traps just off the beach are really attracting them to this area. So come to fish but swim elsewhere. No one wants to be shark food yo!!! read more

One of the very best charters I have ever taken. Phil knew how to get on the Red Snapper, didn't over fish any one spot and we were constantly on the move. Slayed our limit in the first two hours and then went trigger fishing. Phil worked harder than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest and our group of 5 guys had a blast. Phil's wife was awesome at setting everything up and cleaned all the fish after the trip and we have eaten fish for weeks. Great charter and wouldn't recommend anyone better. read more

Captain Phil along with his son and wife have a very well run charter service. With 30+ years of experience they are very qualified. It was Snapper season which we caught our limit within an hour. We then went after Grouper and caught three. Hit some King mackerel holes on the way in with no success (fishing not catching) This was a three hour trip. 12:30 - 3:30 incredible results for a short trip. Phil and his crew launch from Grayton Beach right off the sand. 15 minutes from our rental. Our trip last year took 12 hours and cost twice as much. Phil was a great guy to spend the afternoon with. He was the perfect mix of patients, knowledge and comic. He likes to tell jokes, Albeit old jokes. But if nobody told them, they wouldn't be old! Do yourself a favor if you're staying on 30A go to Grayton (avoid Destin like the plague) fish with Phil! read more

Phil was fantastic, great with the kids! Two of us dads left the wives at the rental house and took three kids (10, 10, and 8) fishing with Phil. Donna, Phil's wife, was thorough with the communication before the trip, explaining everything fully and checking in with me the day before. We met at Grayton Beach and once we were loaded onto the boat she backed the trailer into the surf, Phil backed the boat into the waves, and off we went. For a guy used to boarding a boat from a dock, this was a fun experience. We were fishing in about 15 minutes, and the thing I keep thinking about regarding this trip is how in-tune Phil was with the kids. For example, he made sure to get rods in the kids' hands first and sure enough, one of them pulled in that milestone first fish. The kids were full of questions, and he fielded them all with ease. It was a fast-paced, action-packed morning on the water. Phil was patient, kind, funny, and very encouraging. We never went more than a few minutes without the rod tips bouncing, and Phil took us to a few different places to make sure we were on the fish. When we returned to shore, Phil and Donna cleaned our catch and we had Triggerfish for dinner that night. If you like catching fish, book with Phil. We actually fished w/ Phil's son, Tyler. Public parking at E end of Hotz street, and a 5 block / 10 minute walk to the beach. We left promptly @7:15, and Tyler showed us sharks and dolphins en route to ~ 8 miles S, offshore. Conservation rules were observed (good!), so we had to throw 25% to 33% of our catch back. Four of us kept about 20 fish: trigger, Jack and vermillion. Tyler is a good guy and knows his business. Book w/ confidence. read more

Awesome day with CAPT Phil charters! We were fishing in less than 25 minutes and pulling in fish in less than 27 minutes.
