When I was finished with work for the day I decided I wanted to go out and grab a bite to eat but nothing too heavy. I noticed that the restaurants I were aiming for had longer lines, and crazy wait time. Even though I was in the mood for something else, I honestly was too tired to go roaming around so Captain D's was the winner for tonight! I ordered the Giant Fish combo. It came with fries and a soft drink. I also ordered the butterfly shrimp to complete the meal. Now, when it came to the fries I wasn't impressed they were a little hard than I expected. The fish were really good and huge! I honestly could have just ordered that instead to feed my hunger pains! The butterfly shrimp was good as well. The drive thru wait time wasn't long and I got my food pretty fast. Customer service was good. Overall, it filled me up. Maybe next time I will check out a couple other spots instead when I need a quick fix. read more

This is our second time here and today I had the baked potato and my husband had the grilled salmon, rice, side of mac & cheese, and the bread roll. He said the salmon was excellent and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the baked potato. read more

Before I moved to Columbia a few years ago, I don't remember when I had captain Ds last. I honestly thought they'd be a chain that slowly went away, but after trying their food, I see why they're still open. Now it's not the most amazing food you'd ever eaten but for it to be a "fast food" chain, their food is pretty good. I usually get their salmon with green beans, but my heart is with their fried oysters and stuffed crab shells. They are so full of flavor and the texture is so crunchy. The seafood isn't fishy either. The staff is always extremely nice as well especially when you go inside to order. I wish I had gotten her name the other day, but the girl who helped me was patient and sweet. If you need a quick seafood fix, definitely try them out or visit if you've had them before. They have a lot of good food options, and their fried catfish is really good too. I'd give them a 8/10. read more

I understand that it's 2025 but Customer Service and at least being Grateful still having a Business. Online it says this restaurant closes at 11pm.. Currently it closes at 10pm.. It still respectful that Captain D's employees and Managers are willing to at least explain that to a Customer. Be careful who you hire, definitely as a Leader. read more

Wow. I'm not sure how to score this. The Food was really good. However the lady at the register was rude. She brought us our food my Grandson (9 years old) said thank you. She didn't respond to him at all. So, he said Thank You again. She My other grandson who is 11 said she was rude. We went to get sweet tea and they were out. I ask the lady if they had sweet tea. She did get it after awhile. But once again no response. No sweet tea way ever brought out. The lady was rude to other customers. If she's here we won't come in. We will go somewhere else! This is a Drive-thru experience review... This is the first 2 star I've given. I don't get on Yelp to complain like many often do. Getting to the point the food was great, but I didn't get everything I ordered before driving off. Its 5:18pm. Place is very calm. Dare I say a great time to go before the dinner rush. Btw this is my second review of Captain D's but different location. My order was not ready at the window and so I waited off to the side... 12 minutes later my order came. I ordered the North Atlantic Lobster Roll $3.69 and the Great White Fish with Shrimp Skewer and my sides were corn on the cob and a mac-n-cheese $9.07. No drink... cuz that's extra. Total $14.04 Got home and opened my take-out order. No shrimp skewer. Corn, mac n cheese, fish on rice, 2 lobster rolls... no shrimp skewer. I could've checked before driving off but isn't that their job and because it took a few minutes longer why not be thorough. read more

(Managers take note) Normally this is the perfect setup for a complaint. 3 minutes before closing, attitudes, cold food, thrown together etc. Well, nice job to the closing crew! I ate this after a trip too the zoo with some of my family (I'm 12 it was nice :D ) and one of my aunt's went there with us. after the trip we went to their house and had this stuff. I think this is the right place since it was in Columbia. The cod was really good, crispy but not hard to eat. butterfly shrimp was great also, and the chicken tenders were tasty. Only part I didn't like was the fries, they were bland and not really seasoned well. My brother had to put seasoning on them :/ we even took some home though, it was pretty tasty. I had some reheated cod I made in the oven today for breakfast, with tartar sauce and it was amazing. read more

Saturday, Aug 7, 2021 at 7:25 pm. We got in line with several cars for the Drive-Thru window. 7:55 pm we were at the ordering station waiting to place our order. I spoke "hello" at the sign .... Not a word in response. A taped page on the sign said they are closing at 8 pm due to a personnel shortage. 8 pm and still not a word. We drove around to the window. There were 4 young black women standing around chatting with each other, ignoring us at the window. I blew my horn and motioned one to come to the window, then told her we were in line over a 1/2 hour waiting for our turn to order. She waved us away saying nothing and closed the window. Such rudeness! These Captain D's employees don't have any regard for their customers. THEY DO NOT DESERVE OUR BUSINESS, OR YOUR BUSINESS EITHER! read more

Went to this location for take out. Order the $4.99 sampler and paid .39 cent each extra for side salad and corn on the cob. The portions were skimpy. The salad was barely edible. Then to make matters worse they forgot my desert that i paid $2.29 for. I didn't check before i left so now i have to do without. It's not that hard to complete orders correctly. Very disappointed as i normally eat here 3 or more times weekly. Maybe time to change. read more

Came here 15-20 minutes before the store closed and there was people inside, but the doors were locked. We saw the staff there chatting with each other and paid no attention to us. We thought that we would try the drive thru as all the lights were on and they were technically supposed to be open. After several minutes of waiting they finally took our order. I was not expecting the food to come out hot and fresh because of the quality of service we received prior to ordering, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food tasted good and was worth the value we paid. I was a little disappointed they missed up one of the dinner orders, but it became an alright substitution for the inter item. I would eat here again, I just hope I am able to update my review if the service is better next time. read more

The counter was very friendly. Food was good, served in a decent time. Building is very clean. In walking distance from a lot of hotels. I have not had caption D's be for. Where I am from the normal is long John silvers. I like that it doesn't have grease like long John silvers. I like the fact that you get your own drink and refills the picture is of the dining area. Fish is usually a good safe menu selection here. However, I tried the potato soup and was disappointed. The soup included many inedible long hard strings. I know they were an unexpected bonus, but not meant to be eaten nevertheless. Rap music was playing for your dine in pleasure. Really impressively run Capt. D's. Was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality of the food. The lobby was very clean and they were constantly cleaning it. Wish we could give this restaurant half a star. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was terrible. Why serve chicken tenders with the cartilage vein still in the chicken? My husband has complained of heartburn since we left the restaurant. My loaded baked potato was stiff where the cheese and bacon was. We won't be eating at a Captain D restaurant again. read more

Pleasantly surprised! I am traveling for work and doing Weight Watchers...generally eating well and eating in restaurants don't go together.
