We booked the sunset dinner cruise about a month in advance and paid for the guaranteed window seat. Your actual table is reserved on purchase but if there are extra window tables on the day of the tour then you can be upgraded for free! I would recommend not paying extra because you will have plenty of time after your meal to go up to the viewing deck. You board 20 minutes prior to the schedule departure and are seated at a table already set with appetizers and bread. Bread, wine, and beer are unlimited. You select your entree and dessert for the 3 course meal and are served as the boat cruises at a comfortable pace around Sydney Harbor. The views are great, but the windows are not super clean so I would recommend taking pictures on the viewing deck rather than at your table. The food was surprisingly good. I ordered the Tasmanian salmon filet which was tender and on a bed of vegetables. The orange chocolate flourless chocolate cake was excellent and had a beautiful presentation. Still, there are better food options in Bangaroo so I would recommend skipping dinner and only paying for the view. Considering the amount of people, the servers did well to attend to all of the patrons but their attention is understandably split. This means you won't get individual service, but can flag their attention as needed. It's a bit pricey of a tour but a great way to view Sydney from the harbor.

Since we had enjoyed the architecture sightseeing boat cruise we had taken in Chicago last year, one of my travel companions in particular wanted to take a sightseeing cruise in Sydney as well, We went with Captain Cook Cruises' Harbour Story PM $45: Quality sightseeing cruise experience aboard premium sightseeing vessels Personalised commentary of the stories of Sydney Unlimited self-serve coffee, tea & biscuit selection Duration approx 2 hours It was to be our first taste (of several!) of Sydney Harbor with the lovely view of the Sydney Opera House and the bridge. Exterior seating at the top of the boat was rather limited, but after a while, we relinquished our chairs and headed down to the interior covered space, where I discovered that free coffee or tea was being offered at the bar when you show them your ticket. Individually portioned packages of Anzac Biscuits with Wattleseed were offered beside the sugar packets. It made for a nice leisurely treat that made me feel like a proper lady for a bit. Pinkies up! From our seat below deck, I managed to notice which of the ladies was the voice behind the tour. At one point she even welcomed guests to come by to ask her questions one on one. *** Since we were also interested in the Taronga Zoo, and figured that the ferry would be a nice way to get about, we came back to Captain Cook Cruises for the: $42 2-Day Hop On Hop Off Harbour Explorer ferry ticket between Taronga Zoo, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, ICC Sydney, Barangaroo, Watsons Bay, Luna Park, Manly, Fort Denison, & Shark Island with live commentary Valid for 2 calendar days With an Attraction entry ticket valid for one single day (within 7 days of cruise) *** Tip #1 - pay attention to the signage. Our boat changed sides of the wharf, and we hadn't noticed, so we ended up missing our first choice for departure times. Tip #2 - you can also go Opal, scanning as you enter and exit each wharf Tip #3 - Captain Cook Cruises charges a small fee for paying with an international credit card. However, you have the option of paying with an Opal card to avoid this charge. There is a station nearby where you may top up your Opal card. Tip #4 - their non-sightseeing cruises also offers commentary, so we probably would have done without the sightseeing specific cruise if we had known. But then we wouldn't have enjoyed their delicious cookies and tea... a relaxing experience in itself.

Oh gosh where do I start ? 1.) we ordered a bottle wine , the waiter only poured one persons wine and not the remaining two people 2.) we ordered steak and they said they only cook the steak medium ... ok weird but fine but how are you going to serve one steak well done , one medium and one medium rare ? 3.) they served really hot water in a glass and my mother spilled and burned herself They have a live band, she was a good singer but ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the overall experience was not good. It wasn't even packed very very few people and enough staff so would've expected better service

I paid for the priority ticket to get some champagne on the boat and it was great. Beautiful views of the harbor and also they educate you on the surrounding areas. It lasts a good amount of time and you can move around the boat comfortably, pricey drinks but what do you expect from a boat. I recommend this to anyone going to Sydney, pay a little extra for the ticket to get your champagne and priority boarding. It's worth it!

I got a "loop" ticket as part of my deluxe Big Bus ticket. Means I get to do a full 1 and 1/2 loops of the Sydney harbor and couldn't get out in any stop, had to stay in the boat. The total trip time it's like 45 min to an hour and seems like all the stops are very cool. I was here during Spring so the weather was beautiful. The boat was a few minutes late, but we made it up during the different stops. The guide was funny and gave us a bunch of facts, sometimes was hard to hear because I was seating outside. The boat has restrooms and plenty of room inside to seat. Outside there is a limited number of seats but the deck is open, a lot of room. As a woman, I recommend bringing something to hold your hair down, cause it can get extremely messy. Last thing: get your camera ready cause you can get pretty nice shots during the ride. The only thing I didn't like is that there wasn't a bar (in my boat) so I could get some water or drinks. Everything else was OK!

We received a free pass for dinner on the Sydney 2000, and I was expecting a little bit tacky/cheesy cheap meal on a boat. I was pleasantly surprised! Hubby and I had a beautiful meal - sparking wine and a 3 course menu where you could choose from 3 options - cocktails to buy too - bonus!! There was musical entertainment - while the singer was a bit cheesy at times, she had a lovely voice and read the crowd to sing songs that suited. Hubby and I had a dance which was nice - a pianist played some jazz and classic tunes which on a boat is exactly what you expect - a bit of Tony Bennett and Michael Buble played into my expectations of a cruise dinner!! To top it all off the top deck (a 4 level boat) had an outdoor space to soak up the views of our beautiful harbour!

We went with a group on a lunch cruise of Sydney harbor. While the boat is large and felt safe the donning staff appeared new and confused. One would think that he lunch would at least include a soda pop however the women helping us said that no free drinks and you must pay up front to get a soda $5. The poor was just ok and the desert selection was poor. I am including pictures. My suggestion is of you want to see the harbor and eat lunch then book at cruise without food at eat later.

We booked this tour hoping for a sunset but the sun sets so late here, there wasn't a possibility. If you book the later 7pm seating, then you'll probably have one. When booking I reserved a window seat with the 2 course dinner and unlimited drinks. It was worth it because there is a mad dash to board with throngs of tourist groups. But with our ticket we were seated on the second level where it was much quieter. The boat ride was smooth and seating was perfect. We had champagne and wine limitless but you do have to flag the server as they didn't seem too prompt on bringing glass after glass of alcohol. The food was good. It's a cruise with 500 people so it's not Michelin rated. But the olive artichoke and sun dried tomatoes dip was a tasty starter. I chose the salmon as my entree. It was really well cooked I just say. Crispy skin, delicate meat. I chose the flourless cake for my dessert. It was a softer style orange topping with a very light flavorful chocolate base. A nice way to spend the evening/afternoon. Yes it's touristy but we are tourists!

We used captain cook cruises as a means of doing the tourist thing around Sydney Harbour. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We got the 2 day pass with an added attraction and we chose the Toronga zoo. The ferry's run fairly regularly and the crew we're very efficient getting passengers on and off the boats. It was a bit of a mad rush with due to a bus load of tourists getting on one boat but that's to be expected. Would use them again next time we needed to cruise the harbour.

He picked us up from our hotel at the exact moment he said he would. He is personable and truly wants to make his customers happy. Onboard, we talked about where we were from, showed it on a map, and just generally relaxed with the others we were on the cruise with. We started out by cruising out of Rose Bay, seeing all the 'rich and famous' homes, then going to see the incredible fish market and having lunch on the boat from food from the fish market, then going up to Manly and walking the path to the beach. My girlfriend got in the water here. Then off to a private beech that could only be reached by boat and we played around with a ball, went swimming in the ocean, lolled around relaxing, Andrew is not only easy on the eyes, but an incredible business man, community-builder among the participants. He's really a great guy. We saw so much of Sydney Harbour that we had never seen before - he kept us regaled in stories of events that had happened (both current and historical) - it was an unforgettable day. My ONLY suggestion to Andrew would be to sign up with some sort of answering/booking service so that he doesn't have to constantly answer his phone and deal with folks like one of the previous contributors here. Simply - get an answering/ booking service so you can concentrate on your day by day customers and don't end up with nasty reviews. I would highly recommend that he be extremely clear about what pier/what time passengers should be where. Waiting for nimrod passengers who are in the wrong place at the wrong time is not good. This is an awesome day; one that every first time visitor to Sydney should take. You will learn a lot and have a fun/relaxing day with a babe-alicious guy on a wonderful little boat. Just do it!

An unscheduled storm cloud had us all scrambling for cover but today the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy featuring a fleet review of 30 ships from 19 countries right here in Sydney harbour meant we didn't really mind getting a tad wet. Our first ferry stop Rose Bay was once the home to Sydney's first international airport with amphibious aircraft taking the 30 stop kangaroo route from London to Sydney in 12 days commencing in 1938 and continuing right up to the 1950s. Passing the HMAS Sydney memorial Mast, Shark beach, Taronga Zoo, Garden Island (Royal Australian Navy) and the Prime Minister's house while also admiring some of the most expensive suburbs in the southern hemisphere, it was easy to see why this is such a well patronised ferry ride. For places such as the Taronga Zoo or beaches (Manly and Bondi), which were farther away or across Sydney Harbour, we chose to use public water transport, AKA the Sydney Ferry System. We purchased single-ride tickets since we only used the system 4 times ( round-trip tickets) instead of getting an OPAL card, which you can recharge or top up for multiple trips. Anyway, we couldn't have been more impressed by the efficiency, high capacity, and accessibility of the ferry system, which services 38 wharves across Sydney Harbour. The Sydney Ferry Fleet is comprised of six different classes of vessels, ranging from modern, high-speed double-hulled catamarans for inner harbour suburban routes to larger freshwater-class vessels for handling larger or rougher swells. The cost of each ride varies by destination and as tourists, we found this ferry system economical, fast, and allowed us to get different views of the iconic landmarks in and around the Sydney Harbour and glimpses of the suburbs.

However, they do offer discounts for larger groups and you can always purchase the iventure card and it will be one of the attractions/activities that you can choose to do. So glad I did. Once you arrive at the Circular Quay, where you'll set off, you will have to leave all your belongings in a trunk they lock up and put on a parka that is honestly quite useless because it soaks up about 90% the water. Shoes also must be taken off. Luckily, I brought along a plastic poncho to wear underneath. Always be prepared:p Before the ride commences, the driver will teach you a few hand signals to indicate "ok" or "spin" so that you can be prepared for a spin. They'll also remind you of a few safety precautions. Just in case. Then you set off circling the entire Port Jackson! I purchased the Go City Pass and was able to redeem one of the attraction options for the bus. They have two routes: The red route (city center), and the blue route (beaches). I took the red route. I was able to get a ticket at the Central Station stop. There was an attendant posted at the bus stop who was very helpful with ticket redemption. He also gave me info on the bus routes and schedule. If you download the app, you can track the buses in real time. Your ticket comes with headphones that you can use for the audio guide. The audio tour has multiple language options. The bus is great if you want to use it to take a sightseeing tour. The entire circuit takes 1.5 hours for the blue route and 1.75 hours for the red route. Along the way we saw major sites like the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. I took the bus to the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium and then continued the rest of the route after my visit. Both drivers that I had weren't great at giving enough time for patrons to get on/off the bus. It takes a bit longer since it's a double decker bus. At one point, patrons had to yell to the driver to stop because people were still trying to make their way off the bus from the upper deck. There's a security camera on board so I assumed the driver can see when everyone has entered/exited the bus, but maybe not. My one piece of advice: Do not rely on the bus for transportation if you are in a hurry. There are a lot of stops and it can take time. At one point on the way back from the Aquarium, the driver took a 20 minute break. I contemplated getting off because I was running short on time, but luckily it worked out. It didn't look so bad on pictures, but once I saw the bridge in person and in particular how tiny the climbers looked on top of the bridge, that was the moment fear set in. And it got worse during the preparations. You don't just walk in and climb on up there. You need to have instructions, pass a breathalyzer test, change into a special suit, get a radio, headphones, attach your glasses, hat, jacket and whatnot all to your suit and step into a heavy harness. By that time you'll start to sweat because this suit is like a plastic bag and hold in the heat. You also get to practice a climb up some ladders... oh yay. As a scaredy cat in regards of heights, I was placed up front so our guide could keep an eye on me. Good thing too. The rest of my group consisted of 20-30 year old athletic types... great. So you step on out of the building onto a catwalk and get hooked onto the safety line. This already made me regret things as I looked down onto the street below. Then our guide starts to run, yes run on this narrow catwalk... aaarggghhh... I did finally catch up with her but only because she was waiting for our group. Surprise, let's climb up 4 ladders with 25 steps each back to back... man I was huffing and puffing. Thank goodness you get to wait until everybody is up. Then you climb and climb and climb on up the stairs. I did my best and did keep up, but I was really trying hard. I gave it my all. At about 3/4 of the way, my legs were turning into jello, almost to the summit I thought I was going to throw up, but luckily we stopped to take pictures as a group and then as individuals. I recovered during this little rest. We had climbed up during daylight, by the time we reached the summit the sun was setting and the the view was spectacular. Unforgettable. Recovered due to the short rest and with the promise of no further climbing, but rather descending from here on, I was feeling much better. Thirsty, drenched in sweat and wishing I had used the restroom before the climb, but otherwise ok. Well now we had to cross from one side of the bridge to the other... at the summit, over several lanes of traffic and railroad tracks, and you can see straight down... for me, the scariest part. Then finally the descent. By now it was getting quite dark and we needed to turn on our lamps. The descent was much quicker than the climb of course and I was eager to get out of this hot suit, get a drink of water and use the rest room... no such luck. Now one has to painstakingly unbuckle all the equipment from the suit. Eventually you get to change back into your regular clothes. And just when you think you are done, you have to stand in line for the photo purchases. I had prepaid for the pictures, but still had to wait because the staff will pick out the pictures that feature you and put those with the group and scenery pictures. I do have to say our guide took fabulous pictures and they were worth the wait. Yes, I know I don't describe this adventure as a wonderful experience, it was quite strenuous, but also exciting and the view alone is absolutely worth it.
