It's bad enough to have to move 8 hrs away last minute, having almost no luck even getting calls answered and then the very few OB offices that do answer just tell me 'sorry you are past our cutoff and we can't take you in as a new patient for OB care, we recommend you look elsewhere'. So inhumane of drs to do this. I have had OB care my whole pregnancy, have no complications, this isn't my first pregnancy, and I have copy of my records to provide and yet this office has a no exception policy and I wasn't even allowed to talk to someone other than front desk. Just told it was the drs. decision and that was it. This was dr. Montanez btw. Drs should be ashamed of turning away expecting mothers without any real reason and with no compassion at all. At least add that to your insurance profiles or websites so patients don't waste their time calling your office.

My second time here was to get an allergy test before they can formulate the serum for my allergy shot. Ok. This seems pretty simple. I followed the instructions to prepare my test. I didn't have to wait. The staff poked me a few times (about 82 times) and generated a report. Then, the doctor came in to explain the results and the next step. There were two options, daily drop under the tongue or weekly shots. I thought it was bothersome and expensive for daily dose, nearly $400 for 3 months. He said weekly shots are about the same price. Treatments would last 3 years or longer. I told him I can't do it now because I have some major events I need to attend. He said it would take time to formulate the serum anyway. I was happy that test was done with no side effects. But I am in pain for my wallet. Upon check out, I almost fall to the floor. They charged over $600, including copay for the test. I didn't get any warning. Ugh. I'm so upset and not going back again. I can't afford to get the shots, not even one drop. Tomorrow is the first, the rent needs to be paid. Update: a day later, I called my insurance company and asked them if this provider sent in my procedure for approval. The response was shocking. Nope. So, I removed another star.

The quick response placing my daughter in a room from the lobby, exam, and lab tests was impressive. This group of professionals from registration, to MD, NP, RN, and lab could give a seminar on how to provide excellence in care to Free Standing and hospital based ER's. Its the standard others should strive for none less. After they got testing back with her permission they told us we were at risk, due to the type infection and our exposure to her sickness. We were tested and prescribed prophylaxis as recommended by CDC which checked the box for standards of care as well. Healthcare treatment is a choice and as an Registered Nurse myself working over 40 plus years in critical care and ED sometimes your experience is far less than desired or standards of care. Today as a family we were lucky to choose Rice Emergency Room. We are from out of town just blindly walked in but if I lived in Houston Rice ED would be my first choice for care. The onboarding part is where I would say the experience was less ideal, mainly because the staff was not having the best day. I was under the impression that my information had been ported over properly through an online platform, but I was asked to take the time to fill out new patient forms anyway. Upon finishing did they realize that a majority of the information they needed was already in the system, so it felt somewhat defeating to have to do it online and on paper. The facility is a lot nicer than it looks from the outside. There is ample parking and the office lobby / waiting area has a pretty comfortable set of chairs. The way the acoustics is setup meant that I could clearly hear the ladies at the desk mention anything, which included patient info and scheduling. I'm not one to eavesdrop, but it almost too audible. Once my appointment had concluded, the ladies at the desk didn't even bother to help me check-out or even say bye. I didn't bother to schedule a follow up but still give Dr. Rios a thumbs up for making my lone experience a very decent one.

I called and spoke with the receptionist, who said their system was down but would call me back once it was up again. She took my name and number and assured me I'd hear back. A couple of days went by and no one called, so I tried calling again--three times in one day, and again three times the next. No one answered. Since I couldn't get through, I went online and tried to cancel my appointment through their portal. I thought the cancellation went through, only to later receive a call saying I missed my appointment and would be charged a $50 fee. I explained everything--how I had called multiple times, was told I'd be called back, and had tried to cancel online--but the admin told me they "have to follow protocol" and that I should have kept calling until someone answered, even though she also acknowledged that their phones were down. That response honestly blew me away. I'm not someone who misses appointments for fun--I had every intention of rescheduling and made multiple efforts to do so. I'm new to their online system and genuinely thought I had cancelled properly. The way this was handled felt dismissive, lacked accountability, and was just plain unprofessional. It's unfortunate, but I won't be returning or recommending them based on this experience.

It's for individuals who are low income and who have minimum coverage. If you have the gold card appointment visits copay is $3.00 each visit. If you are unable to pay, the patient access representative will tell you, you may be billed for $3.00, however; often times that is covered by a charity. They have a specialized team, that can help you with all your needs. The doctors and nurses are very good and will listen to your needs. If you feel you got rushed out of your appointment you can always request for a new doctor. Keep this in mind. There is a pharmacy and food farmacy (I think it's called) where you'll be able to get food and medicine. You'll have to have a prescription. When you walk into the doors take a right and pass through the doors to see the food-like bank and take a slip to wait for your number to be called. The therapist on site specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the sessions are very short. Once you speak with a receptionist, you'll be prompt to go to the waiting area A, B, C, or D. A week into my recovery, the wrap covering my leg from knee to toes began to come loose -- something my doctor said could be carefully re-wrapped, but which would be extremely difficult for me to manage on my own due to the extent of my injuries. I came to OnPoint, expecting to receive a few minutes of basic assistance and was stunned when the clerk conferred with the medical staff and informed me that re-wrapping is "not something they get involved with." When I said that I found it hard to believe they would prefer I go home and attempt this myself rather than offer minimal help, I received only a shrug. Since I can't drive myself -- it is my right ankle that is broken -- I had to arrange to be be taken to AFC Urgent Care on Weslayan, where the staff took a few moments to assess my situation and re-wrapped the loosened area without hesitation. They even invited me to return if the wrap should come loose again before my follow-up appointment. I understand urgent care facilities have limitations, but refusing to spend five minutes assisting a patient with a serious fracture -- particularly one who cannot simply drive herself elsewhere -- reflects poorly on this practice. I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend OnPoint to anyone in a vulnerable sitution.
