Capriotti's may be small, but they pack a lot of great stuff in there. Produce is always fresh, good quality & very reasonably priced. They also stock a decent amount of Italian style groceries including cheeses & packaged D&W lunch meats. The only downside for me is they rarely have any organic produce(I've only ever seen organic blueberries). However they do have local produce in season & I got some heirloom Jersey grape tomatoes that were amazing! The fact that they're always busy attests to the freshness, quality & pricing of their goods. They do a lot of wholesale which I presume a quick turnover helps. read more

You can tell the owner takes pride in their product. I feel everything is hand picked

I didn't purchase anything so my rating is not based on their produce. They claim to open at 8 am. I arrived there last Saturday a few minutes past 8 and no produce was out, the staff was scurrying around getting the place ready. I went to Gino's Bakery, up the street, came back about 10 minutes later and they were still nowhere ready to open. If you advertise that you're open at 8 than be ready for customers at 8, not start to get everything together at 8. I've been looking for a place that's local, has good quality produce and reasionable prices. A few months ago I started to eat a mostly plant based diet and I'm spending $150 to $200 a week on produce. Places like Produce Junction and Bells Market offer low prices but the produce is often past it's prime. Some local supermarkets have better quality produce but have steep prices. If anyone can suggust an alternative in Northeast Philly I'd be very grateful. read more

Found this business quite by accident and have been going weekly for years ever since. A simple store environment allows for very very reasonably priced fruits, vegetables, salads, nuts, pasta, Cento products, cheese, eggs and more; and most importantly always very fresh! Mark and Mike and there staff are very friendly and helpful. My place of business use them for our Produce & Fruit. I also use them for my house you get better deals with them then in a Grocery Store. Easy to fine Frankford Ave give them a try you will not be SORRY. read more

I think that every neighborhood should have their own produce grocer. This is regular spot for my staples (eggs, bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc). The prices are fair and service is fast and friendly. I love how I can be in and out in just a few minutes with everything I need. In addition to getting fresh produce, I feel good that I'm supporting a local small business and about having the relationship that comes along with being a regular customer. Try them out. I used to work across the street from this place and the highlight of my day was going over there just before lunch and picking up beautiful, fresh veggies for my lunch. Great selection (no baby spinach, my only complaint) of veggies and fruits, but they also have locally made sausage and cheese and the prices are SO CHEAP! I've gone in and spend less than $10 and come out with over a weeks worth of veggies. I wish you guys would move down to Fishtown now. I miss you. read more

Finally a great produce place! I'm so excited to have found Capriotti Bros. My favorite thing about this establishment is that the produce is not pre-bagged, so you don't have to settle for three partially rotten apples to every one decent one. The selection was great-everything I needed I could find. I got pretty much a little bit of everything they had and it only cost me $27. In addition to great produce Capriotti Brothers also has a wonderful selection of Cento Italian stuff which was a delightful surprise. The days of your drive by huckster shouting out STRAWBERRIES is long gone but that doesn't mean that you can't get that fresh fruitstand vibe. Capriotti`s will have everything that you need, and even a few things that you didn't intend to buy.They are a mom and pop shop in Mayfair that would love your business. Capriotti's is a hidden treasure. The vegetables are always fresh and bargain priced. Why shop at the super market when this place is available? It reminds me of the old Italian market on 9th Street in South Philly which isn't as it was If you're in the Northeast you must try the place but make sure you bring a quarter for the parking meter.
