I met the owner as well and she was very nice, letting me know that they had taken over management only a couple months ago. Their custom cake looks really epic too! However, I didn't like the two items at all, they were both overly sweet. The muffin was super oily, where it seep through the wrapper and bag, which is shocking because the muffin was actually dry and crumbly...not sure how that works. The muffin also lacked any filling, so it was dry and plain, other than the topping, which was way too sweet. The cookie wasn't that bad, I wished that they used dark chocolate because it was really sweet, and a bit hard. The best cookies for me are the ones that are crispy on the outside but soft in the inside, which this one is hard throughout. I personally don't like sweet things so if you have a sweet tooth, definitely check it out - but I was surprised about the muffin as I never seen such an oily muffin before but that's also dry.

Gratia seemed like a popular cafe on weekends. There were lots of customers when I got there around 1PM. We ordered Matcha Raspberry croissant ($6.75), large drip coffee and latte. Drip coffee tasted bit bitter. I had to wait in line while staff were busy helping customers. Latte was good, but Matcha Raspberry croissant was too sweet. I didn't know the washroom was at the back at the rear side. Because the cafe was very busy, there was no toilet paper when I walked into the washroom. Staff were very nice and helpful, but my personal experience was just okay. I could've got something better than Matcha Raspberry Croissant. Besides all the staff were too busy and had no time to check or clean the washroom.

Well wouldn't you know I was in the same parking lot as the Fort Langley Bakery and I had heard some great reviews. Maybe my expectations were high but the cake was a bit dry. In the display case they have the "cakes" made in Styrofoam and the real cakes are frozen. I think this had a hand in the dryness of the cake. I also bought a Butter Horn pastry which was really good. It was not frozen so it did taste fresh. I would like to try them again but only if it is fresh and not frozen.

The bakery isn't huge but has a great selection and the goods are great quality to boot. I picked up an apple fritter, beef sausage roll, and two cookies for the kids, a Smartie and sugar one. Apple fritter was just freaking awesome!!! It tasted super fresh and it was a good size for the price with chunks of apples and just the right amount of crispiness. Beef roll was a bit spicy but really filling and it's hard to find a great sausage roll that isn't made by a machine. I will be making another trip out here and want to try out their Fort Bread as it looks delicious.

The Smoked salmon eggs Benedict? Fuhgeddaboutit! The best eggs Benny I've ever had, no question. The side salad was delicious - I love the radish and the dressing was my favorite - even my husband was stealing salad from my plate and he's not a veggie-guy! The smoked salmon was perfect and fresh, and the bread was croissant toast and it was perfect and not too crispy. Absolutely heavenly. There's a seasoning or herbs in the hollandaise I really enjoy - particularly the thyme!!! A must try, in my opinion, if you enjoy smoked salmon. My husband had the chorizo hash, also recommended! A very deep flavor - almost reminiscent of a shakshouka. The poached eggs were beautiful - runny yolk! Great toast. The sausage was more of a mild chorizo. The draft IPA was really great and a nice surprise to see. They also have coffee and a wide range of pastries that look incredible. I can't wait to try the pan au chocolate we bought, but I'm really looking forward to the bread pudding!! Very kind and patient staff. Self seating, which can get chaotic but they manage it well. Cute aesthetic. Cozy! Highly recommend if you're in Langley.

We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better.
