Great parking option near the Capitol. The two hours of free parking give you plenty of time to walk around the Capitol grounds and explore the surrounding area. It's in a great location, just a short walk to the Capitol, and the parking garage is easy to navigate. read more

This is great low priced garage if you're going to Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. The first 2 hours are free and then it's only a few dollars each hour after that. And it's not too far of a walk to the park and just far enough away that you avoid all that traffic as you exit the a show. read more

The Capitol Visitors Parking Garage is a great spot for parking if you're visiting the Texas State Capitol. They offer free parking for up to 2 hours, which is super convenient. The garage is only about a block away from the Capitol building, so it's an easy walk. The garage isn't super wide, which I think is a good thing because it keeps drivers from speeding (hopefully). I had no trouble finding parking here during my visit. If you're heading to the Capitol or the surrounding area, park here! read more

After checking out of Worldmark Austin, I wanted to visit the Texas State Capitol. The last time I was in Austin, TX, was back in 2002... that's right, it was 20 years ago... and I didn't get a chance to go inside the capitol. So this time around, I made sure I did LOL. When visiting the capitol, this parking garage is perfect to park at, super easy and convenient. It had plenty of parking spaces. It was very clean. It is about a few minutes walk to the entrance of the capitol's area. First 2 hours are free. If I recall, any additional hours beyond the 2 hours is $1 for each half hour thereafter. Maximum daily charge is $12. This isn't too bad at all. I ended up staying more than 2 hours... I paid $5 for the extra 2.5 hours... sweet! Park with confidence. Enjoy your visit! read more

Not much to say since it's a parking garage, but definitely park here when visiting the Capitol. It's just a tiny walk away from the garage to the Capitol grounds and it's a very reasonable rate. Oh and it's a safe area to park. You will pay more if you park at a meter compared to here read more

Parking is free for the first two hours and $1.00 for each half hour thereafter (maximum daily charge: $8.00). Can't ask for much more than that. I was following the signs for parking (as we came in off 35), hoping to see a spot on the street, thinking for sure I'll get gouged in a lot... I did not find a spot on the street, so I had to pull into the lot... What a pleasant surprise when I saw "first two hours free." This lot is just a couple blocks from the Capital and is an easy walk. read more

Visiting the Texas capitol? Park here and save some dough. The capitol is a 3-minute walk away. Parking for the first two hours is free. Each subsequent half hour is $1, with a $12/day maximum. No overnight parking. The ground level is for reserved parking only, but we had no trouble finding parking on the level above (albeit this was on a weekday when visitors are probably fewer). Entrances to this structure are on 12th St and 13th St. The exit is onto San Jacinto Blvd, a one-way street. When exiting the structure, be sure you turn left onto San Jacinto, not right! read more

Locals know what's up. If you're not a totally lazy person (or someone with a legit reason to avoid city walks), you can park in this tax-payer-funded structure for a reasonable fee (max of $10 as of March 2016) and attend the goings on in the downtown area. It's only 7 downhill blocks to Dirty 6th from here. It's also a reasonable walk to the UT campus for sports & other events. Beware the night time clouds of ganja in the stairwell. Cough cough cough. Pro-tip: if you park here in the afternoon on a SXSW weekday and don't return until after 9pm, you might find that your parking was free. The attendants get off work at some earlier time and leave the gates up for free exit :-) read more

Super easy and convenient parking garage which we used to visit the capitol. It was less than $10 for us to be there for a few hours. We actually just left our car parked here and continued touring the downtown area. I would recommend this garage. read more

I am a little bit surprised this parking garage has 5 stars. I guess there's nothing particularly wrong with it. They allow you to have free parking up to 2 hours. It's kind of cool :) It's very close to the capitol hence convenient if you want to go inside for a visit. You can definitely get through the capitol (the inside area) in under 2 hours so it's a great deal and a free exhibit! The garage itself is ok, spaces are a bit small. read more

We were here Saturday and parked here for a trip down to 6th street. The garage had plenty of parking available at 3pm. The spaces are a little small if you are driving a truck or other large vehicle. Numerous vehicles were taking up two spaces due to the size and also some of the folks just can't park correctly. The garage was clean and the area has a safer feeling than closer to downtown. The walk to 6th is downhill and only about 6 blocks, not bad at all. The best part is we returned at about 6:30 pm and the gates were up with no attendant, so Free Parking! Woo hoo! Will definitely use this garage again. read more

The painted lines demarcating the parking spaces in this parking garage are nice, straight, and bright. And the concrete both on the driving surface and on the walls of the structure is of very high quality. This parking garage is really a "must see" when parking in the Capitol area. read more

Parked here earlier this week. during the day. Current info on the parking garage is found here at http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/CVC/plan/plparking.html "Public parking is available at the Visitor Parking Garage. The first two hours of parking are free of charge. Vehicles can enter from either 12th or 13th Street. The garage is bordered by San Jacinto and Trinity. The Capitol Visitors Center, Capitol and Capitol Extension are a short walk away. Rates are subject to change during special events on weekends." I haven't parked here at night in a long time, but remember it being free at night. I will be checking it again. Was a fast walk to 8th and Brazos during the day. read more

My car pulled in. I left my car to go to a meeting. I came back, my car was still there. I tried leaving the lot, but wound up going in circles for a bit before finding the exit. I left. The end! The parking lot served its purpose. The attendant checked my ID on the way out as I paid with credit card...who does that? read more

Worked well. Price was high. Safety was acceptable. Felt good. Free parking under a bridge nearby was also safe, but saves lots of money. If you're not paying for it or hate walking a couple blocks, park here. Safe and close to Convention center. Otherwise park under nearby bridge. Costs night and weekends, though. This parking garage is right next door to the Capitol Building and walking distance to the Bob Bullock Texas museum. I came here on Saturday before 9AM, there is no tickets so I just went right in. When I came back around 3PM, they are charging $7 for event, but I'm able to get out without paying for parking. I would use this parking lot for the Capitol Building, Bob Bullock Texas Museum. If you are willing to walk, it is not that far from 6th street (IMO) and to UT campus. I will use it next time when I'm in Austin. read more

Very convenient if you want to go visit the capital or just go downtown. Seemed to be a secure place. We were here on a Saturday and it was free. So that's awesome. Had plenty of room to park. No parking fee on weekends. Lots of places -- you could park whatever you want. It's very close to capital and should be a best place if you want to take a visit to the main building. read more

My friends and I park here all the time when we are doing something downtown. A few blocks' walk is worth it to not have to search out a spot and feed the meter, and the walk cutting through the capital grounds is very scenic. The garage is usually pretty empty and has entrances on San Jacinto, Trinity, and 12th. During the daytime the first two hours are also free. read more

I understand how parking garages work in the city. I parked here because there was a sign that said Guero's customers park free for two hours. There is no arm and no ticket when you drive in. I looked for a QR code and only saw one for a few premium spots by the entrance which were marked in yellow. There was no signage explaining how parking worked and no prices listed at the entrance, so I assumed I would get validation at Guero's or would need to scan my receipt. However, the exit was open upon leaving the garage and there was nothing to scan. I was there for less than two hours and the garage was very sparsely occupied, so at that point I just left. Well, my friend who had had an identical experience to mine and I both got $95 tickets in the mail from Premium Parking in New Orleans for "parking illegally." I appealed mine, explaining the situation and sending them a photo of my receipt, and they lowered the fee to $30 because I was a patron of the business, disregarding all of my concerns about visible signage, illegal business practices, etc. I complained again and they told me that all appeals decisions are final. When I tried to pay the bill, the website wasn't working, so I called and complained again. The employee was really nice but didn't pretend that he was going to help me at all so I finally said that I would just pay over the phone. About 15 minutes later he realizes that their whole system is down and that's why I couldn't pay online so I'd have to try a few days later. This whole process took about a month and was endlessly frustrating. Parking in a free garage shouldn't cost more than what I paid for dinner! Premium Parking runs on trickery and is funded by theft and I will be checking the ownership of parking garages in the future before using them to make sure I never use one of theirs again.

The main entrance to this garage is on Colorado Street, just north of 4th street. You head up a…read morelevel or two and curl right. It's a tight space, so it's unlikely your vehicle will make it entirely parallel to the kiosk to get it. The garage allows prepaid parking; you can scan a QR code to get in. Once inside, the has very tight quarters. One helix is responsible for heading upwards; the other one heads downwards. The cross over points exist in every level. Certain spots are marked as reserved, so check carefully for any signs posted within the parking space. Lastly, the levels are marked P1, P2, ... so if you park at a space that is between two P levels, and it is your first time here, you might mistake which level you parked on when taking the elevator back up. So if you feel like your car isn't where you thought you left it, check a level up or down. The security guard working there states this type of situation occurs all the time. The elevators are pretty neat. They have a kiosk outside, from where you select which floor to go to prior to going inside one of the three elevators. Finally, parking there after working hours appears to be a pretty nice value.

I learned growing up when we went to the Capitol building with where I was raised (Wyoming) we were told on a guided tour that each Capitol building out of the entire U.S. is unique and has something different to offer. And the Texas Capitol certainly does that. The size is definitely one of those unique characteristics but the structure and architecture of it also is as well! There are all sorts of great posing opportunities here inside and outside the Capitol building if you want to do selfies but also good ones for scenic purposes too! Even though they had to run around town with these brake lines, and rely on another shop to hunt down parts and fabricate custom brake lines for me, they had my Jeep back to me after just 6 business days! The other great thing is Miguel kept me updated the whole time and I never had to worry about if my vehicle was being taken care of. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.

It's a tight space, so it's unlikely your vehicle will make it entirely parallel to the kiosk to get it. The garage allows prepaid parking; you can scan a QR code to get in. Once inside, the has very tight quarters. One helix is responsible for heading upwards; the other one heads downwards. The cross over points exist in every level. Certain spots are marked as reserved, so check carefully for any signs posted within the parking space. Lastly, the levels are marked P1, P2, ... so if you park at a space that is between two P levels, and it is your first time here, you might mistake which level you parked on when taking the elevator back up. So if you feel like your car isn't where you thought you left it, check a level up or down. The security guard working there states this type of situation occurs all the time. The elevators are pretty neat. They have a kiosk outside, from where you select which floor to go to prior to going inside one of the three elevators. Finally, parking there after working hours appears to be a pretty nice value.

Before I got to my destination, I was a bit overwhelmed with where to park as I knew this was a busy street. Little did I know the Holly Commons parking lot would actually turn out to work in my favor! Not only is it nicely lit, but there is ample parking spaces. I really enjoyed the touch of murals and need to come back and pay a bit more attention to the artists. Parking initially requires payment but with select local businesses at Holly Commons you'll receive a validation code after a monetary purchase. If you're just needing a place to leave your car, simply treat it like paid parking!

They are next door to ACL/Moody Theater, so i;s very convenience if you are seeing something at ACL. I appreciate that you can self-park anywhere in the garage and love that they only charge $10, even when there are big events in town. If you drive a big SUV or Pick Up, have no fear...you will fit. All you have to do is show your badge, and they let you right in. Though it's not free for them, all other people can park here, too. The good: ~ This garage is located between 3rd and 4th, Lavaca and Guadalupe, so it's close to lots of bars and restaurants. ~ Qua is very close by. ~ No bums have accosted me here, which is appreciated. ~ It's underground, so I feel like my car is safer than in a ground lot. ~ Even if you don't have state ID, it's only $5, which is cheaper than many other lots. ~ The attendant said I was pretty and offered to wash my windshield. The bad: ~ It's tough to see the parking spaces (lines need to be repainted) ~ The garage is a confusing labyrinth, so navigating it is often counter-intuitive and once I thought I saw David Bowie. ~ It's a long walk to things at the east end of 6th street from here. ~ Qua is very close by. ~ You exit onto a one-way street, and you might not always want to go that way. But you have to. Don't try not to or police will intervene. I saw it happen. In case you want to find this place, I recommend entering from Guadalupe (just go down the ramp on your left immediately after you cross 4th street), but there may be multiple entrances. When you're coming back to your car, you can find the stairs at the southwest corner of 4th and Lavaca. Some of the other entrances get locked, but this one doesn't.

East Campus Garage

This is a spacious university operated parking garage located at the intersection of MLK and I-35…read more It features two entrances, and it has multiple levels. It's located roughly a mile from the main campus, so budgeting around 20 minutes for walking through the Texas sauna would be smart. It is located across from the baseball stadium, and it is a smidge south of the tennis center. There used to be a Cap Metro stop at the garage, but it seems that one has fallen out of use. It wasn't too useful anyways, since drivers and buses would frequently skip the stop. The north end of the garage has a dumpster, some stairs, and a walkway. Some elevators are also located on that side. The north entrance goes down, but then it forces you upwards after entering. The east entrance goes in at ground level. The south side has a set of stairs that dumps you out at MLK and I-35. Sometimes there will be events going on, in which case they usually close off the MLK and I-35 entrances, making you take the Comal Street entrance (and they'll sometimes block off the parking lot to the north) through use of barricades, traffic cones, and police presence. If you are going to the Moody Center for something, they expressly forbid parking at the ECG for Moody Center event parking. They have a nice big sign that they like to put out. As for the layout of the garage, it's rather spacious and not cramped. They've also recently put up signs indicating that large vehicles can't park on the edge spaces (the ones next to a U-turn). I'm not sure why there is a space there anyways, since no matter what parks there, there will be an awkward lack of visibility as you turn. The upper levels of the garage are reserved for those with vehicle storage passes. In terms of egress, there are stairs that lead out to the MLK / I-35 intersection, stairs that lead to the bus stop out front, and the stairs on the north side. On the northeast side, there is a ramp that goes to the bottom level. Finally, the Department of Campus Safety has moved their HQ to the garage. They are located on the east side, between the east entrance and the north entrance. Landscaping around the garage is pretty pleasant. There are a few trees that provide a little bit of shade, but not much else. On the north side, you can see the baseball field and tennis courts. And I suppose that on the roof, the views are likely nice too.
