RUN and don't look back!…read more Boxelder prepared my 2023 tax return and included two W-2s from the wrong year (2022) while omitting my actual 2023 W-2. The tax year is printed right on the form. Because of this, the IRS disallowed my withholding credits, my refund was never issued, and my account was flagged for lien/levy action. When I notified co-founder Tom Conradt about the errors, he responded that my email was "not sufficient in terms of credibility or specificity" rather than investigating his own firm's mistake. I've spent months correcting their errors myself, filing an amended return and complaints with the IRS and DORA. They market themselves as having tax lawyers and CPAs, but my return was prepared with apparently no CPA review despite a CPA being CC'd on my emails. AVOID THIS FIRM!

There were some totally understandable personal circumstances why our taxes didn't get done by the April 18 deadline, even though we sent our documents to Steve in March by his deadline. But even given those, communication was just brutal. We reached out at least 5 times from May through August with no response or a staff person telling us that Steve would get back to us. He finally got back to us after our 6th try in September and he said he was working on our taxes and he would be in touch. Two weeks later, one week after his self-imposed deadline, we finally set up a meeting to go over everything. The meeting went great. And then we didn't hear from him again for another week or two, blowing another self-imposed deadline. We were finally able to sign the documents for filing 1 business day before the October deadline. And even then, we didn't hear back that they were filed until we reached out to him after the deadline had already passed. Again, fine result, but just really bad communication. I really hope that the aforementioned understandable circumstances were the reason for this, but I'm afraid not given the repeated nature of the bad communications.

I called and was told nothing had been received and was sent forms to fill out for standard tax filing services to be billed at the "standard rate."
