During one of our days in Portugal we made our way up to Óbidos, Nazaré, and Alcobaça and got to see some beautiful sights and views...and eat some amazing food. During our time in Óbidos, a small medieval town where we were able to walk along the castle ramparts, we sadly only tried one food item - an amazing little pumpkin and fig roll/biscuit at CAPINHA DE ÓBIDOS that had tremendous flavor but was not overly sweet. Would have been perfect warmed up with a little butter or cream cheese, but was just fine the way we ate it. I really wish we would have purchased some of the fresh bread or some of the meat filled rolls. If you make your way up to Óbidos make sure you give this place a try.
Overall: The best bread I've had in a long time, don't let this little bakery pass you by. The good: Fresh breads and pastries made daily. They had 7-8 options to choose from, ranging from cheese and meat filled mini-loaves to sweet, walnut-and-orange spiced buns. Many of the choices were great, but our favorite was the simple, buttered mini-loaf. It was hot and the butter melted in the middle. The dough was flaky on the outside yet soft in the middle, and was more than big enough to split (along with the other things we tried). We loved it so much we went back later that day! The not-so-good: One of the buns was forgettable compared to the rest, and the staff knew limited English (which isn't a fault, but worth noting). Food/drink: 9/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9/10
Highly recommend going here!! Best cafe/bakery I've ever been to! You can see them making bread and pastries fresh and the staff is so kind and friendly! We got breakfast here and loved it all! I highly recommend the chocolate croissant, chorizo bread, and coconut pastry! We also had the apple, orange, and honey walnut pastries! They were so good we went back and got more for the road after! Cappuccinos here we're also creamy, super delicious and no sugar needed! Such a quaint town and this bakery was the best and in an amazing location!

OMG, the smells from this place drew us in. The bread, pastries, sandwiches, etc were so fresh. All my friends ate something from here and loved the food. one of the BEST things they sell, is the coconut bread. It is divine when warm. Perfect texture, not too sweet...oh my.. We ordered coconut bread at several other places in other towns, but not one of them measured up to the one from here. I wish I hadn't already eaten, because the sandwiches they had just made looked amazing. A must try when in Óbidos. read more
Located right in heart of Obidos is this charming little place where you can get some typical sandwiches or pastries. We ordered the bread with chourico baked in (amazing!) and a focaccia like chicken and veggie sandwich that would rival some pizzas I've had. Would recommend because it's a bit off the beaten path and food as well as prices were good. read more

This little gem of a cafe is not a spot you want to miss as the Pao de chorizo is a wonderful bread with chorizo inside and worth every penny . Everything is freshly made in front of you in their wood burning ovens. Their deserts such as brownies and apple bread are also light and delicious and make a great addition with your espresso. They also have desserts made with coconut , lemon and other items made with sweet potato . You can smell the fresh bread baking from the window of the cafe. We loved it here! read more

They sold us very stale ,old bread was 5.50 euro . It was very frustrating . And she was very unwelcoming read more

Amazing! The best bread I've tasted yet on this trip through Portugal. So fresh and warm with a perfect crust and delicious chouriço inside. This is what I dreamed the bakeries of Portugal would be like. read more

Fresh pasteris and stuffed bread. Try the bread with cheese and ham fresh out of the oven. Loved it! read more

Love this bakery. Old style bread and tea, coffee. You can feel like very old city. I had espresso with orange bread which looks like poundcake. So good. Price was reasonable and tasty was good. You can take rest with these delicious breads. read more

The ladies here were warm and welcoming. They spoke English and were helpful in helping to pick which things to order. I walked in wanting something savory and I ended up ordering a bread baked with ham, chorizo, cheese inside. The bread was a little on the sweet side but nice and soft. Also ordered the traditional bread with chorizo- this was more of a rustic type of bread and quite filling. Cute little bakery! read more
