When I realized the gas fireplace was not starting I called Aspinwall because I had used them before. They have an office in Quincy, but we're willing to come to JP to fix our fireplace. They made an appointment for almost immediately (rare these days). They showed up first thing in the morning when I had a 3 hour window. They had the fireplace working almost immediately. They showed me how to light the pilot light in case that was ever the problem. And when I asked if I could replace the logs because I didn't t like the way they looked in the fireplace, they took them all out and rearranged them decoratively, and it looked great. When we moved permanently to our summer home in Marshfield I was pleased to see that they opened a new office here.

We especially liked that they did everything from start to finish which no other companies seem to do. Dennis installed a gas insert and a gas log set on our house and they were fantastic. The install was neatly done and Dennis was just as friendly as the rest of the crew. My parents also had a gas insert installed by Mazzini and they are just as happy.

Given how long it took them to install the grill, hood and cabinet they were getting aggravated about it and were making nasty comments about their job and how they didn't care if they would damage the cabinet and grill. Really nice to hear how good care they take ... One fireplace still needs to be fixed because the air intake doesn't seem to work. This fireplace was installed in a new construction. The store found this particular fireplace after I wanted to order a different one. Fair enough I thought, they are the professionals. Upon installing the bolt that holds the guillotine door during transport was not removed so the door would not come down. Meanwhile the contractor had framed and boarded the surroundings of the fireplace. The 4 side openings for ventilation had to be opened to install the registers and at that time there would be access inside the fireplace to remove the bolt so the door could close and the fireplace could be used. The openings were made in APRIL 2024 and I informed the store that they could come out to remove the bolt. There was an active text conversation with the owner about coming over the next Monday but he never came. We're end of OCTOBER 2024 now and nobody bothered to come over. In April we looked online and managed to do it ourselves. In July there was an email asking if the inside of the fireplace was accessible to remove the bolt. Email from the same person who was told back in April that he could come to do it and answered that he would come the next Monday. Then out of the blue they send the bill for the remainder to be paid despite knowing that they never came to resolve the issue. When we told them on April 8th that we had removed the bolt ourselves we mentioned how the air intake of this fireplace is not working. The controller in the front of the fireplace is supposed to turn and left and right but it is not moving. This issue is still not resolved and nobody from August West has gotten in touch about it. We are now talking to the manufacturer how to solve this. The "ceiling" tiles inside the fireplace have fallen out at this point and this was also brought up end of Sept when we asked AGAIN about the air intake. The lack of customer service is UNACCEPTABLE !!! The customer should not have to do all the research or get in touch with a manufacturer to get their help. The ONE star is even too much for this business.

    We called Chimney Chap because our boiler had a persistent lack of draft - exhaust would back up…read moreinto the basement, and the burner wouldn't draw properly, no matter what we tried with adjustments. On the inspection day, which did cost $250 (a very fair price if you call around for a licensed inspector), they arrived on time, did a thorough inspection, explained the issue clearly, and provided a fair, transparent quote for the repair with no surprises. Only a few days later, Scott (the owner) and his crew installed a high-quality dual-lined stainless steel chimney liner that perfectly addressed the draft problem by improving airflow and boosting overall safety and efficiency. The work was clean, professional, and completed quickly - they left everything spotless, no mess at all. Our burner now draws beautifully and burns efficiently. We're thrilled with the results and the great customer service. As stated earlier, Scott, the owner, even came out and worked on our project. You can tell that he takes pride in his work and business. I am not sure what the issues others are having, but some of the reviews don't make sense to me. I highly recommend The Chimney Chap for chimney liners or any fireplace-related work - we'll be calling them back for sure!

Their claim that the chimney needed Thousands $$$$ of dollars of cleaning /repair work has since proved to be UNTRUE. They refused to answer my phone call , and I had to go in person to get any result. They would not take responsibility . When I asked to see the supposed interior fiber optic video/ pictures , they claimed somehow they had been erased. Even when I said I was considering a New Gas Insert , on my phone message , they never called me back. I find this a tough Industry: you have no way of seeing what's actually going on in your Fireplace and Chimney. They have the tools and expertise , and you're totally dependent on their Ethical approach . It's like being held ransom , trying to keep your Family safe . These guys are Not the ones to Trust.

    On Thursday 9/19 I went to Linwood Stove and Fireplace as I wanted to buy a gas fireplace and have…read moreit installed in my home. The purchase would be in the thousands of dollars to include venting, stonework, hearth, mantle the whole deal. The saleseman gave me information and told me they could come out to my house to do an estimate but it would cost $85.00 for the estimate. He went on to say if I purchased from them the $85.00 would go towards the purchase otherwise it was the fee I had to pay for the estimate. I thought that was steep for an estimate fee but went ahead and scheduled them to come out the following Monday at 8:00am and I would just go into work a little late. Monday 8:00 am came and no one arrived, I waited a while and then called Linwood at 8:20 to see what was up, The recording said Linwood was closed on Mondays so I left a message explaining no one had showed up and left for work. Later in the morning I received a call from a man who stated someone showed up at my house at 8:20 to do the estimate and no one was home. I told the guy we had an 8:00am appointment and after not hearing anything I left for work at 8:20am. The man stated "we are not punctual with our appointments" He went on to say that it could have been anywhere between 8 and 9 and that the salseman is usualy good about telling customers that. I told the man I would call and reschedule later. On Wednesday I called the salesman and stated I thought they should waive the estimate fee of $85.00 and re schedule the appointment. The salseman said he would talk to the owner as he could not make that decision and call me back later in the day. No one ever called me back so I guess with those estimate fees Linwood just doesnt need the business.

    On February 18, 2014 I went to Linwood and ordered and paid for a replacement piece of glass for a…read morewood stove. I was told it would be there in about two weeks and that I would be called when it arrived. Over one month went by and no call. I went to the store this past Tuesday March 25th to inquire about the glass. A sign on the door stated they were closed for inventory. I called and said I was in the parking lot and could someone bring the glass to the door and give it to me. I was put on hold for 5 minutes and then told that they could not find my order! I was told the manufacturer would be called and that I would be called back in 30 minutes with an update. 3 days later and no call. Terrible customer service! No let's see how long it takes to receive a refund! Do not waste your time with this company!
