The actual Cap de Formentor when you get there is breathtakingly beautiful.
The drive there is a whole other story. Suffice it to say, I'm glad I experienced the Cap de Formentor but I will never drive myself back there. You need to be a pretty competent driver but it's more than just your own skills. Watch out for reckless drivers, people who will try to zoom or squeeze by you even when there is millimeters of room.
To get to the Cap, you need to drive up these tiny switchback roads that zig and zag endlessly. Sure you can go slow but then you've got a whole trail of blokes up your rear. The roads just immediately fall off too and there's little protection that keeps you from your demise should you slide off the cliff. All of that culminates in parking at the Cap which is the most congested area of them all. Good luck finding a spot or even moving to a spot. It is only enough space for one way traffic so it's a game of shuffling a dozen cars to get anywhere at all.
All of that headache should have no bearing on the majestic beauty you get when you reach the Cap. It washes away all that stressful driving when you can see 360 degrees of blue ocean. With the vantage point up that high it is just so picturesque. It's also windy! Be prepared for all of that. The lighthouse at the top is okay. I think you can get a quick picture and be done with that. But bring your A+ instagram game because the photos will be the envy of many.
That is a comforting thought I suppose when you make the trek back down and have to fend for your life on the winding roads again.
