Very costly mistake, but hope same not repeated with someone else. If vendor has a problem with comments, I welcome a call to review and maybe settle this. TR

Stay well away from this outfit. They have no technical knowledge of later engines or technology…read more They operate from a garden shed which is literally like a boat graveyard. They are simply not competent to undertake engine repairs and are a disingenuous and dishonest back street bunch of cowboys (and cowgirl). I asked this company to do a 100-hour service on a 2018 Mercury 350 OB engine. They quoted me quickly for the work and started the service process. Some months on the service was "complete" although when I went to use the boat the transmission was stuck in forward. Master marine mechanic came to look at the issue and advised that there was a problem with the gearbox. They replaced a bent shaft which they said was the problem and reinstalled the lower unit. The engine was still stuck in forward. After one week I decided to use a marine tech from Naples, who came out on a Sunday and realigned the shafts in the gearbox and engine as Master Marine Mechanic failed to install it correctly in the first place. According to these guys, it was a fault with the actuator. It wasn't. As per the start of this review, stay well away. They owe me money which they pledged to refund me but haven't. Boats are expensive toys which should be looked after by capable, professional individuals, this lot don't match any of those criteria.

After the Hurricane IAN our families home on Sanibel Island boat lift was beyond repair. The crew…read moreat Stokes Marine was able to remove the damaged boat lift and replace with a new lift in a short amount of time. The knowledgeable crew from their in-house service department not only custom set the bunks to our Key West but also set all the auto stop limits and explained how to use the GEM remotes. Their response time to help us and professionalism is TOP NOTCH!! Would Recommend them for all your Dock, Sea Wall, Canopy and Boat Lift service.

Stokes built us the dock WE wanted, while other company's proposals were often trying to talk us out of things. In the planning stages their "we can do that!" attitude, the way Nick returned phone calls quickly, his enthusiastic professionalism set them apart from other builders. We were happy with the type/specifications of the lift they included in the bid plus the canopy and tiki sub-contractors they chose. They were not the lowest bidders but we felt assured that they would deliver quality work. And they 100% did. This positive attitude followed through into the construction phase where the crews showed up as scheduled and, once they started, worked non-stop from 8am to dark, and even weekends sometimes. They worked like an efficient, well-managed team. Credit to the team lead Rod for his positive can-do attitude, work ethic and attention to detail which you could clearly tell inspired his crew to live up to his standards. We really can't say enough good things about Stokes. We absolutely LOVE our dock. I mean how often do you get to design and build a dock! Enjoy it!! You can trust Stokes to make it a good experience.

I called Brian and he agreed to do a boat inspection and wanted to charge me $600, within minutes he collected my payment over the phone although we had not schedule a time for inspection yet. When he did go out for the inspection 2 days later, he called me after the about 30 minutes on the job and he said he was done. He told me the boat was great and but there was a leak otherwise everything is good with compression check at 150psi. I ask him for pictures of the engine and invoice. Unfortunately he was only able to give me a 8 seconds video of the leak and nothing else. His invoice were hand written with couple of notations. That was it for $600 for 30 minutes of his time. I then called my local mechanic and showed him the invoice and the Video. My mechanic then called Brian directly and asked him for pictures, which he had none. He asked him give the compression check of all the cylinders and the PSI. Brian responded they were all good and couldn't give him specific. He asked Brian, did you see all the rust in the engine? Was is sunken? Brian responded is Florida. My mechanic keep questioning but Brian had no answer. My mechanic told me to get another boat inspection because Brian didn't do anything especially in 30 minutes. I then spoke to the seller, and he said I wasn't going to tell you anything but he showed up shirtless smoking and continue to smoke during the inspection in the bilge. The seller even pointed out the issues but Brian ignored it. I called Brian and told him about all the issues I had with this inspection. I told him you need refund me $300 as I have to hire another boat mechanic to re-do his work. If he doesn't I will go on yelp let people know of my experience. He said no and continue to say that the seller has his own pictures. Really?? I hired Brian to work for me and give an objective view of the engine. All he did was spent 30 minutes and gave me 8 seconds video and said everything is good, when there were obvious things the selller, my local mechanic and I can see. It is my fault I should of researched Brian more and not take the first person that took the job. If you look up Brian marine services, you can tell there were many people share similar experiences on Yelp, google, and Angie's list. I wish I could give him zero star and put the heading as "STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY".
