Cafe/wine bar is connected to the bakery.
Masanori D.

As there are so many tourist traps in Florence, my girlfriend and I asked our local tour guide for her recommendation for a lunch spot. Cantinetta dei Verrazza is listed as a bakery, but it is connected to a small wine bar/cafe (see my photo). Both the bakery part and the cafe part are narrow and small. We had to wait for about 20 minutes, but it was well worth it. Luckily, we were seated at one of the two tables outside. I don't remember the name of the food that we ordered. We saw this beautiful platter with bread, hams, cheeses, and fruits that the table next to us had ordered. It's not very classy but we asked the waiter for the same platter and, of course, wine. As it turned out, it was two dishes served as one platter. Everything tasted as delicious as they looked! I will definitely come back when I go to Florence. It's not because it's close to the city center and convenient, but because the food is excellent. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's visiting Florence! Disclaimer: I visited Cantinetta dei Verrazza around this time last year (mid-September 2015). It took me one whole year before writing this review, but I thought it's important to share this information since it is a challenge to find a great restaurant in Florence. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. Great place!!!! Stopped in here to use their wifi and ended up with bakery items plus wine. The staff was so friendly, warm and attentive. Their pastries are AMAZING! Really delicious, homemade authentic Italian pastries. Everything is clearly fresh. Their wine is so reasonably priced and just phenomenal. It's local wines produced by them and they are delicious. If you find yourself in Florence be sure to stop in here.

Lunch special with a nice Pinot Grigio at Cantinetta dei Verrazzano. Perfection!

Great place for a bite to eat and a great glass of chianti. Check out the foccacia sandwiches and the Gran Selezione Sassello wine!

Stopped here for a caffeine fix and this place did the trick. We did not try any food, but we were very satisfied with our coffees.

Our favorite bakery in Florence. Try the scone with raisins and almonds; they're ethereal.

This review is long overdue for our visit back in November of 2024. I was looking up Nduja recipe…read moreand reminded myself this was the place that initiated my love for Nduja sauce. American/Aussie owned bakery brunch spot by the river, such a cute little eatery. We loved our visit and though it's definitely more of a touristy spot, as most customers spoke English, the food was delicious to forgo the tourist trappy vibes. We shared a plate and added some items as we didn't want to get too stuffed on our first day of Florence. We had the Nduja Eggs plate with bacon and avocado added. Nduja is a spicy Calabrian pepper spreadable pork sauce, and oh boy was it so flavorful. If I remembered correctly, Melaleuca spread this sauce on top of a fried bread and eggs. I don't see it on the menu at the moment and it's probably a rotatable dish... but it definitely kicked started my hunt for the sauce. Since this is a spreadable pork, it's not something I could bring back to the US but I was able to find it online back home. The service was amazing and the beverages were delicious. Like many Italian places, the dining room is small and bathroom is a single small room that might require a small wait if they're busy. Didn't get to try their baked goods this last time, but definitely on our list to go back for more when we're back to Florence for a visit.

Nice to have a real brunch, not just coffee and croissant. Service was great and the place was busy but not loud. Can't speak highly enough. Go u won't be sorry!
