If you've had bad experiences with shelters before…read more(barking dogs, the smell, chaos, etc.) I encourage you to visit the Atlanta Humane Society. The dogs are kept in nicer spaces that are behind glass. If you're interested in interacting with the pets, you let an employee/volunteer know and you're put into a room to spend time together. We were only casually looking and there with a friend who was considering adopting. In her interactions in the days leading up to our visit, the said the staff was very quick to respond and helpful. The one downside was that I felt the staff/volunteers were very pushy in trying to get the animals adopted... but at the end of the day, they're also just doing their jobs!

I adopted two dogs from this place. Both dogs were adopted out to me with undisclosed severe…read moreanxiety issues. They both were not fit for adoption. Atlanta Humane Society knew that the two dogs they adopted to me were both unfit for adoption. The first dog (Meagan) I took to my VCA Veterinarian and even he told me that Atlanta Humane Society should have never adopted her out. He told me that she has so much anxiety and is not too social with people. She is social with other dogs. So, I asked him if he would write a letter of recommendation stating that he finds her to have too much anxiety and isn't too social with people and that he doesn't recommend her being placed for adoption. He did write the letter and I gave Meagan back to Atlanta Humane Society along with that letter from my VCA Veterinarian. When she (Meagan) was in my care, she never ate and she never drank. Not even my own VCA veterinarian could get her to eat and drink. She would only pace back and forth when kept indoors. The other dog I adopted from them (Zairya) did not like being held. When I held her, she wanted me to immediately put her down. She would not come when I called her name, she would just only hide under chairs and under tables. Also, she would bark loudly like crazy whenever she was in a crate or left alone. She too would not eat or drink. This is why I returned her back to Atlanta Humane Society as well. Atlanta Humane Society never told me about either dog's severe anxiety issues and they knew that neither dog was fit for adoption. Yet, they still adopted them out. It is clear that Atlanta Humane Society doesn't care about remedying the anxiety issues of their dogs before adopting them out. It is completely shady and absurd to me that they (Atlanta Humane Society) would knowingly adopt out two dogs with severe anxiety issues and then expect the adopter who adopted them to keep them. Atlanta Humane Society is the reason why I have now lost all trust in all animal shelters and they're also the reason why they have now made it completely hard and difficult for me to ever adopt again. I WILL NEVER EVER adopt from Atlanta Humane Society (including all other animal shelters) ever again. I will never again deal with nor set foot in another animal shelter ever again after these two horrible adoption experiences. When I adopted both dogs, they were both adopted to me completely smelly and filthy. I had to take each dog to a local self serve dog wash immediately after leaving with each one due them smelling so horribly and being so filthy. Please keep in mind that if you adopt any cat, kitten, dog, or puppy from Atlanta Humane Society...they will be adopted out to you completely smelly and filthy. They don't bother taking the time to bathe any of their animals before adopting them out and sending them off to their new home. I don't recommend Atlanta Humane Society, if you must adopt a dog...I recommend going elsewhere. Atlanta Humane Society doesn't care who adopts their animals as long as they're able to pay their grossly outrageously high adoption fees. They rely on people to pay their high adoption fees to fill their pockets and wallets. Atlanta Humane Society has now made me hate all animal shelters.

Being sponsored by Mr. Blank gave me a little more assurance that mine would be well-cared- for during his stay. Pre-lim docs are sent via email prior to your appointment, to be reviewed and esigned, etc. Intake is also very well organized the morning of, with a volunteer lining us up neatly one by one in the parking area, for the extra volunteers to pick up your babies/exchange paperwork. Pickup is a little more crowd-based, everyone gathering in the lobby/seating area. A volunteer will come out to greet and brief parents on the pets' general state (post-procedure) and after-care required, with take-home paperwork provided as well. I will update again after my baby's recovery period is done, but so far so good!

These guys are doing the best they can given what they've got. I'm currently fostering one of their…read moredogs, Sayso. Originally as a Weekend Warrior, but I decided to keep Sayso for a bit longer. I've never had a dog, but she's been manageable. She's housetrained and loves people and other dogs. I took her on a hike with some friends and she got along with everyone. She does have a case of kennel cough, so Lifeline has provided antibiotics, which I give her daily with her dinner. She's very sporty and energetic, and so needs regular walks and play. She will sit for treats and to put her harness and leash on for walks. We're currently working on her impulse control and teaching her "leave it". I'm hoping she finds her forever home! Daisy from Lifeline has been great about answering my questions and giving me the 411 on training techniques. Truly a great organization to foster with.

We've been here before and the visits have been wonderful…read more We go for the Vaccine Clinic. All staff are great. Friendly, supportive. These people are there on a Sunday morning before 8:00, ready to do their jobs. One of the most impressive things is the organization of the whole process. Everyone is focused on whatever task they have. It's crowded, lots of dogs and people. Yet the experience for me was of organized efficiency. Staff communicate continually, with each other and all the people waiting. I really can't stress enough about what a completely successful visit I had. Again, I thank the awesome staff.

Paws is such a wonderful organization who are doing great work to save animals. It's such a…read morethankless job, but the staff and volunteers are truly angels on earth (and so kind!!). I am a first time foster and have been working with Christa, the foster coordinator at Paws, to find a foster match for my home and with my current dog. Christa has been incredible, very communicative and responsive, and is so personable and has such passion for what she's doing which beams just from her. The foster process has been so easy and they've made sure me and my dog are comfortable the entire way through! I'm excited to be a foster for a long time with Paws. Thank you for all the work you do for the community, but more so for the animals as well.

Tried to pursue a cat adoption twice from this org and received the run-around....I needed to phone…read moreback and talk to someone else. etc. I think the cats that I called about must have already been adopted but they were still using the photos for "traffic" to their social media page and for donations. Also, their name is a misnomer. Many of the posted cats are not even remotely "feral" rescues. My last conversation with an employee/volunteer went south when I started asking too many questions and trying to set up a meet appointment. Lady was very rude & evasive. I point-blank asked if the cat had already been adopted. She would not give me an answer or set up a time to meet. I found my dealings with this org very odd especially for a rescue non-profit. I adopted a rescue cat from an animal shelter & had zero problems.
