My parent was there over a year & Mgmt continuously attempted to charge us for anything & everything. It was stressful & repulsive. With the exception of one person in Mgmt, the rest are leeches. After my parent died, only one Mgmt employee gave condolences after I called to tie up some things-not a word from the rest. At least they were finally showing their true selves. Additionally, one employee harassed my parent & tried to convert my parent to evangelical Christianity despite my parent being a reformed Catholic. I'd never recommend them, I'd warn people about what to expect. If you're very well-off, there's no problem but if you're on a fixed income, even if it's quite a healthy upper-middle class income, be prepared for them to bleed you dry...all while smiling & pretending to care. Avoid.

This is a challenging time with Covid-19, but Liz arranged for us to see (by some different means) 4 adult foster care homes all in one afternoon. She also came to each appointment with us and jumped in appropriately to ask owners questions that she knew we needed answers to. She also provided us with a basic questionnaire form so that we had a list of some good questions to ask each owner. This home was for my father, and it was our 4th attempt at finding somewhere that would meet the standards of care we had for him. The home itself is inviting and welcoming with a large backyard where we could sit in the sun with my dad and a very safe neighborhood to go for walks in as well. The food quality was far and above any other home and they made each of the meals themselves. It always felt more like a family than someone taking care of my dad. Jamie, Leo and Amanda were incredible with my dad and I always felt so peaceful knowing he was being well cared for, never being left unattended or neglected. The kindness they all showed not only to my dad in their everyday interactions with him, but also to my mom, sister and I as we went through the painful process of watching him die, was amazing. At the very end of his life, he didn't wake or eat for 7 days, and if there was a moment we weren't by his side, they were right there. Jamie personally stayed with him through the nights singing to him and holding his hand. I can't describe the peace we felt knowing that while we went home to try to rest to regain strength, he was never alone. Jamie, Val and their staff operate with the utmost integrity, kindness and love for everyone who walks through their door-both the patients and the family. Losing my dad was the hardest thing we've ever gone through, and having him get the best care possible made that journey just a bit more bearable. It's difficult making life decisions for another, so I was pretty nervous about the whole thing, but Jamie and Val have proven to be absolutely wonderful. Not only have they taken great care of my mom, but they've helped her so much with her rehab. Also I'm concerned about the relationship between two of their caregivers on assisted living... they have a romantic relationship where they refer to each other as "mother" and "daughter". It's very uncomfortable to witness. I've even overheard them calling a male resident "grandpa" and a female resident "grandma". I don't know what sort of sick incest kink they have going on but if it continues I will be moving my mom to another facility!

Avamere offered the nicest outdoor experience with a walking trail, duck pond and easy access to shopping and bus lines. The interior of Avamere was also a step up! It did not have that tell tail 'older person' smell that all the other facilities had. Fresh paint and fresh carpet go a long way toward this achievement. Additionally I would like to give Cassie Delozier a shout out. She made the transition smooth from independent living for my brother to a very pleasant room that he is very happy with. She did a personal visit with my brother to make sure he would fit in, arranged to give him a personal tour of the facility and helped get us all settled in once the move happened. She made a point to introduce him to all the residents and staff on his first day and was instrumental in us choosing Avamere for my brothers forever hone. She continues to answer my periodic question about resources and general questions within the hour that they are posed, excellent customer service! Thank you Cassie! If anyone is looking into a superior senior living experience I would highly recommend Avamere at Park Place.

Do Not Place a loved one here!…read more The prices are very high and the quality of care is very low. When I toured I witnessed the director ignoring residents and being oblivious to the loud, cold and chaotic atmosphere. The two large common rooms are under furnished and sparse in warmth and decor. The large TV on one wall was turned up so loud that we had to try and talk over it and again, the director Eugene, was oblivious. I watched the director Eugene ignore a resident complaint and turn away from him in a dismissive manner without care or concern or a plan of action. I saw a resident holding onto a wall rail in need of a Walker because it was too painful to walk unassisted and there was no staff available to help her. The environment was chaotic and felt dangerous and neglectful. I ended my tour abruptly and will be filing a formal complaint with the state. It is clear this company operates for profit with no knowledge of how to run a safe and effective Memory Care facility. Horrible. facility!!!

Two weeks later we found out the delay in moving in was because there really wasn't a room available, even when they said there was. They admitted that to us. They require a $5000 deposit. They returned $4000 of it and kept the rest. Essentially taking money from our Mom.
