"The worst experience I've ever had -- and we paid for this?"…read more We drove two hours excited for a fun day on the water, but what we got instead was a blatant display of racism and disrespect. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was cold and hostile. The service? Absolutely unacceptable. A heavyset white woman with short hair -- who was clearly not happy to see people like us -- immediately started questioning our English. Mind you, we were communicating just fine. Still, she continued to belittle us, asking if we "even understood" what she was saying, in front of other customers. It didn't stop there. The owner, "Dave", came over while we were calmly sitting down and filling out the forms. He suddenly turned on my brother's wife, demanding that she speak English only, and his tone was aggressive and demeaning. That was the final straw. We ripped up the papers, stood up, and decided we were not going to spend a dime in a place that treats people this way. And just when we thought it was over -- Dave came outside and started taking pictures of our license plates, as if we had done something wrong. Apparently, walking away from their dirty little business upset him. To make things worse, we later found reviews saying they keep the $500 deposits from customers. This whole operation feels like a scam with a side of racism. Thanks for ruining our weekend, Cap'n Dave's. We will never come back -- and we'll make sure others know what you really are.

I thought the rentals were a bit pricey (~$45 for 2 hours). They did have kayaks, paddle boards,…read moreand jet skis. This is located within the tolled Nashville Shores entrance.

The "pond" is right next to the highway and the water is incredibly dirty. Staff recommended we do NOT get in the water. I'm glad we listened, because we absolutely stunk when we got home and all we did was paddle board. We went on a Thursday afternoon. All other patrons were young, rich, white families. Like I said, nothing actually wrong, but the website could include more information/photos/etc.

Parking is a small challenge but if you're not adverse to a short walk there are spots off the main roads close by. The setting is really lovely overlooking the lake at Westhaven. We arrived early but there honestly wasn't a huge crowd. If I could I would give their food operations 2.5. It is very pricey for what they provide. $8 for draft beers in plastic cups. The beer was cold and tasty so that's a plus. The hot dogs were extremely disappointing. I ordered the Westhaven which you would think would be a show stopper with the community name on it. For $9 you get a standard size hot dog. (You can get an idea of the size by its comparison to the 3 Jalapeño peppers and the excess bun length over dog length.) It came with a thin spread of cream cheese and honestly the smallest amount of chopped onions. It looked like the 11 pieces of diced onion had been meticulously spaced across the dog. Also be aware the dogs do not come with any sides, no chips or fries or even a pickle. The Chips would be an extra $2.95. Husband ordered the Polish Dog. It also came with a very lite portion of onions and we realized later that it didn't even have the peppers as promised in the menu. So it was a pretty sparse fare. Not sure we'd return for dining, maybe stick with renting paddle boards.
