I arrived 15 mins early to a nice clean business and was greeted as soon as I walked in and then was checked in and placed in room with my dog. The only reason I took off one star was the wait to see the vet once inside the room. The vet tech came in immediately to meet us and get info and to go over everything I wanted for the annual canine visit. Once the Dr came in, he was great and very patient with my dog who is aggressive at the vet office. He won her over and was able to sit on floor with her and get her blood and exam her and give her all her shots. Check out was easy and fast and the entire staff was very friendly and the prices very reasonable.

I called my usual (former?) vet first, and they couldn't see her until sometime the following week even after I told them her eyes were so infected I was sure she was going to lose at least one. I called Good Hope, and got an appt for an hour later! Dr. Bynog confirmed that her eyes were very bad, but the eyeballs were still intact. (Well, he said he thought so -- the infection was so bad, he couldn't really get either eye open.). The medication he prescribed showed remarkable improvement in just 24 hours. The cost of the visit, tests, food, and medicine was VERY reasonable, and today's follow up had no office charge, just charges for another test and more medicine. The office was quite busy, so we waited a bit, but not too bad. Once we were with the doctor, we did not feel rushed. He listened and answered all our questions patiently. Imo, this is THE place to go in Natchitoches for veterinary services.

In short they are a business before being a vet. The veterinarian is too busy to actually take time…read moreto speak to you, they give medication before testing to see if it's even needed, they have extra fees everywhere, they want to to agree to payment of services before being told what they will be, and are not punctual at all. I called and asked before scheduling if they had the 12 month heart worm injection before making an appointment. I was told they did and we scheduled an appointment a week later. When we arrived our appointment was at 0900 but were not seen until after 0900. I was also asked upfront to sign an agreement to pay for service rendered before even being told what that service would be. While she tried to say that it was for future service that is not how it reads. After being there for about 45 minutes I was told we would have to come back if I wanted the 12 month heart worm as they now did not have it. Giving the benefit of the doubt we came back two days later. This time we were taken to a room right away. We sat in the room for a while until they told me the actual veterinarian was too busy to come examine the dog in the room an needed to take her to the back. I was told to wait up front. They then brought her back and, more waiting. Later the technicians came in to giver her the normal medication your dog receives once a year. However, they gave her a de worming medication WITHOUT testing for worms. After I asked why you would give be a de worming medication before testing they then decided to test. She was negative as expected. At the end I did finally have the actual veterinarian doctor come into the room. This was to give her the heart worm. Its interesting to note they did wait for results of the heart worm test before giving but did not for de worming. Posted in the room were notices that while you have a legal right to go elsewhere for medication they would charge you to provide a prescription. While yes you should pay for the visit I've never seen a vet charge for just writing the prescription. I'd recommend if you can to find another vet but the issue is you don't have many options. The vet next to the base I could not find a single person that recommended going there. I did here and I was disappointed. To be clear the staff is friendly but even a car salesman sells you a car with a smile. I also they were upset with me pointing out these concerns but they concern me. Often business right outside of the military bases have a habit in engaging in these type of practices because they know they can get away with it. I would not recommend this being your regular veterinarian. If you can it might be worth the hour travel time to find a vet in a bigger city or even a rule vet that's more vet focused than profit focused.

This Petco was clean and as well organized as possible with reorganizing going on. I've been on several occasions and Saturday evening was by far the busiest time with lots of families and pets shopping. Team members were very nice and offered advice about my purchase and it was awesome not to have to find someone to help me but rather someone offer to help me.
