Theres a decent restaurant and bar, which really has decent food and good cocktails. The menu is pretty broad from sharable apps, to main courses, deserts and even milkshakes. The prices are decent even considering the $20 charge to get up there. One level above the restaurant is another observation deck with no roof but with big glass panels, sort of an indoor outdoor experience. There was also live music that began at 8PM when we were there. I usually don't go for the traditional tourist activities, but I'm glad we went. Everyone from other tourists and staff were really friendly.

You can buy your tickets from a kiosk which looked easy but a helpful guide made it easier. It was not too expensive for the trip up to the top and we only waited a few minutes during the early afternoon. In the elevator the guide asked where we were all from and explained what to do in Spanish and English. There are wonderful views of the entire city and it was a great way to get our bearings, if a little smoggy. We stopped by the cafe and had a little cake and coffee. Our waiter was really friendly and it was nice to sit for a while and enjoy the views.

You can choose to ride up on the funicular round trip which takes you straight up the hill and comes down the same way, although we chose a different path kinda by accident but nonetheless , a fun experience. There is also an air tram option before you make your way down although you need to reserve a time slot which may be tough to do, if you are not exactly sure how much time you will visit. At the top of the hill, you will have a Bird's Eye view of Santiago; which is amazing. The city does have a fog cap around the top, but you can still manage to get some decent photo shots of it. Plenty of good photo ops at the top and walking around the perimeter of the area. If you want to go see the Chile sign, then you must be prepared for the walk down. It's about a 25 minute walk down the hill to get to the sign, but once there, totally worth it. The decision to go see the sign needs to be made not only for the walk down but having to walk back up the steep hill to catch the tram or cable car down. If you continue walking down , most likely you will be walking along many locals that use the path for adventure and fitness. Don't be surprised by getting passed up by skateboarders, roller blades and even a few locals that seem to walk way faster than us. Lots of hiking trails options on way down, if you want to go off road. It's about another 30 minute walk down, and I mean down, to get to the entrance part. Don't plan on having uber picking you up somewhere on the way down because they are prohibited from driving this way. How do I know, well, ....... Did I mention the walk is down, down, down? Overall, it's a must do, take your time and plan the trip, so it matches your fitness and time capacity.

I have seen the Christ of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs Arkansas but not since I joined Yelp. This one isn't the Christ, instead is his Mom the Virgin Mary. It's very cool and worth it. I didn't try hiking Cerro San Cristóbal and I didn't Uber. Instead, I walked from Baquedano Metro station and took the funicular. Easy!

There is a spot outside where they sell veggies and fruit (if it is a hot day you can find slices of watermelon to cool you down as well as fresh juice). As you walk in you are bombarded with the micro-entrepreneurs calls to visit their section they have claimed on the bridge, a mixture of different smells (mostly food with fish and Mapocho mixed in if it is a hot day) as well as bright colors and interesting finds - a true experience for all of your senses! Although I don't buy pre-made food here, I always love to watch the Peruvians sell their delicious food on this bridge from their different carts. There is always a couple of criollo stands where they sell dishes such as tallarines a la huancaina and ceviche (especially when it is 100 degrees outside...I am always surprised by those who buy raw fish on the street in this kind of weather) as well as the emoliente carts (a hot gooey tea with mixes from the rainforest). It is a perfect spot to pick up cheap, good food if you can't eat at the Tirso de Molina across on the other side of the bridge. This small passageway connecting the Vega Central and Tirso de Molina with the other side of the Mapocho, is a beautiful site to see cultures collide and discover some great finds!
