I have used Canadian Western Mechanical plumbers for many years and have always had great service from them: from running multiple hoses from my barn to my house, about 300 feet, when the water pipe into my house from my wellhouse froze one February to digging up the ground 7 feet down to fix a leak in the water line where the line entered the house and water under pressure entered the basement. These are the two major plumbing problems I have encountered but there are several smaller problems that this company has fixed for me. Asked for a callout quote. After giving all the details, was given a price. When they showed up was told callout would be a lot more. When I rang the really rude woman, at the shop, she said that the price was put up because they had rang some other companies and they where charging more. When I told her that her employee could leave my home and I would not be paying them a penny and I would find a more reputable company, she told me I was trying to blackmail them and they did not want people like me as a customer anyway. I have a horror story about this company and even though I do believe that there are good honest people working there I want to share my experience. I had an air conditioner installed and was pleased with the service, the price and the product. The A/C had to be integrated with the furnace so it would use the vents to cool the house. When summer was over I realized that the furnace was not working and I called them because I was confident they would again give me excellent service. I got a knowledgeable experienced fellow and he was certain that it must be the computer mother board so he replaced it, huge price but I'm not concerned because it should be under warranty with the company who built the house. Furnace still not working, keeps turning itself off, starts up and then turns itself off. Now begins a steady replacement of parts over several days, the fellow is completely unable to figure out why it is doing that and on the third or fourth repair call when the bill is now huge he calls in another tech, they are standing there talking, saying it's like it's starving for air and they pull out the air filter and find the manuals from the A/C placed on top of the filter, hidden completely out of sight, completely blocking the air intake and making it impossible for the furnace to stay lit. I can't speculate why the technician put the books in there but it caused days of misery and a huge repair bill. I asked the men to put back all my old parts and the furnace worked fine. One thing angered me though, the men broke the latch for the door, which was I agree plastic and poorly made BUT they didn't mention they broke it they just put a screw in to hold the door closed. I have since had a different company to look at the furnace and had the door latch fixed which cost me $80.00, so even though they broke the door and had to know it would cost $80.00 to fix it they didn't mention that to me. Over all although I'm sure good people work there I would never refer anyone to them because I just feel they let me down. I did not get ethical or efficient or honest service from them. read more
