If you are visiting the island of Mallorca, taking a day trip to Soller (port and downtown historic…read morearea) should be on the bucket list. The only reason I even knew about this city/area was because my dad raved about how beautiful it was and honestly it did not disappoint. Getting here was pretty easy. 30-40 minutes from Palma. I'd note that while driving to this part was easy for the most part, there's a lot of narrow one car streets you might drive down, with pedestrians on both sides of you, that was the only stressful part but once I adjusted, it was all good. We parked our car in a parking garage, and was able to walk around the entire port in a few hours with a stop for lunch and drinks. There's tons of food options that line the streets, so definitely do some research on where to eat but we did enjoy El Sabor which we found not touristy, great tasting food at an affordable price. The views along the port are absolutely stunning. When you think of all the pretty spots that get shown in videos of Europe, this is definitely one of those spots.

Just about 40 minutes by car north of the Palma airport with easy access by taxi or rental car. Beautiful boutique hotels in addition to lovely residences built up into the mountains that overlook the small but picturesque port. The main promenade extends nearly the entire way around the port and had numerous lovely restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Multiple vendors available for fun water activities. We personally rented a small boat for a couple hours at sunset (late in the summer months ~7pm) and toured around the Balearic Sea and visited the small island off the coast. Must do this!! We definitely will be back!!

Record-go has charged us 340,40 Euros for a damage in our rental car that we have not caused…read more I do not recommend using this company but if you do, please consider taking photos and videos at pickup and drop off times, inside and outside of the car. The due diligence that they should do at pickup and dropoff is missing, so it is left to customers to do part of the company job. We have registered complaints with both La Junta Arbitral del Transporte de Mallorca, GOBI, Feneval and with UKICC (UK International Customer Centre) as British citizens. Our rented car was a white Toyota Yaris with licensed plate number 5192MNT and it was rented up until 5th August 2024. The damage reported was on the right back of the car. I am sharing this information as I think this same damage could have been charged to many different customers. In the first place Record-go gave us a car that was not safe to drive, the steering well kept making a noise when making any turn and when driving on any minor speed bump. They could not change the car at the time of pick up because they do not have a big enough fleet and ran out of cars by the time we requested a change. We were going to drive around Mallorca and this car did not feel safe to drive. Hence we had to come back at 7am the next day to change the car. The lady who dealt with this change showed discomfort attending our demand and was very happy to leave us with that unsafe car. Finally she admitted that a new car was needed and gave us another one very quickly and did not inspection the car with us. She did not do any due diligence and we suspect the later charge in our card may have already been planned at this time, as a way of retaliation. The car was returned with no damage and we had no issues when dropping it, as the drop-off kiosk was busy the employee who took the keys did not have the time to come with us to inspect the car and we were ok not to take his time as we have had no issues with the car, we were happy to leave it there for them. Six hours later Record-go sent us an email informing us of a damage in the car and we were sent an invoice from Tasarauto Global Services S.L. with details of the repair needed and its cost. On top of that Record-go charged us 50 euros for Damage Admin Fee. They attached 3 pictures and in none of them we can see both the damage and the plate number together. We are certain that we have not caused this damage. The damage in the pictures they sent would have been heard if we were to do it while driving or parking and, if it was to be made while the car was parked, we would have seen it, specially it being a white car and the damage being very noticable. We checked the car around at drop off and the damage was not noticed, shame that we did not take pictures then. We have 2 young kids and it is not always easy to leave them out of the car in a busy parking while taking pictures for a possible later fraud that we didn't anticipate. We hope this review helps others renting a car, please do not use Record-go, it seems cheaper than others but it is not in the end, it has been such an unpredicted and unbudgeted expense for us. The company is always generating an automatic response to all reviews, anticipating their respones, here is our reply: No, you are not at the customer disposal at drop-off because no one from Record-go team came out to inspect the car with us, breaking your own contract. This is what you sign with customers in the contract: "Un rental chequeará el vehículo con el arrendatario a la devolución y se tendrán en cuenta sus alegaciones".

The actual Cap de Formentor when you get there is breathtakingly beautiful…read more The drive there is a whole other story. Suffice it to say, I'm glad I experienced the Cap de Formentor but I will never drive myself back there. You need to be a pretty competent driver but it's more than just your own skills. Watch out for reckless drivers, people who will try to zoom or squeeze by you even when there is millimeters of room. To get to the Cap, you need to drive up these tiny switchback roads that zig and zag endlessly. Sure you can go slow but then you've got a whole trail of blokes up your rear. The roads just immediately fall off too and there's little protection that keeps you from your demise should you slide off the cliff. All of that culminates in parking at the Cap which is the most congested area of them all. Good luck finding a spot or even moving to a spot. It is only enough space for one way traffic so it's a game of shuffling a dozen cars to get anywhere at all. All of that headache should have no bearing on the majestic beauty you get when you reach the Cap. It washes away all that stressful driving when you can see 360 degrees of blue ocean. With the vantage point up that high it is just so picturesque. It's also windy! Be prepared for all of that. The lighthouse at the top is okay. I think you can get a quick picture and be done with that. But bring your A+ instagram game because the photos will be the envy of many. That is a comforting thought I suppose when you make the trek back down and have to fend for your life on the winding roads again. Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 117/100 !
