There is also a ferry (Rheinfahre) between Koblenz and the Ehrenbreitstein district, but it was not running because water levels at the Rhein have been so low. The ride on the cable car was very smooth compared to a few others that I've been on, and it really wasn't that bad of a ride until the end where you go up pretty dramatically. We didn't get off, just rode in a loop, but it was a great view!
