This may be my favorite place ever…read more It's an amazing hotel dating from the 13th century. It has been fully and painstakingly restored to its original beauty by the current owner. This spectacular chateau still has the original dry moat and a dramatic entrance across a drawbridge. The rooms are spectacular, there are maybe 23 or so. One of them is in the old chapel and the bed is beneath the altar with Renaissance paintings on the ceiling. It is a special thing to have the opportunity to see this chateau. The restaurant is Michelin starred and it's a good thing it is because it's the only game in town. This is a small, small town and there is no place else to go. But, trust me, you won't want to. A glass of champagne on the lawn overlooking the sprawling grassy hills at sunset, a Michelin starred meal, one of the largest fireplaces in Europe, a bathroom with a tub so large two could still drown in it, a bed under an altar, wooden shuttered windows that flap in the lightening storm, you will be forever scheming to return.

Outdoor pool was magical with fresh fruit to pick from an orchard of a variety of fruits. The kids picked fruit and ran back to the pool and swam. Food and wine was outstanding. The views from the rooms was magical. And it got better. We left keys to our Airbnb in Paris there and they drove them to us at the Lyon train station. 5 star service. Above and beyond. If you wan to make dreams come true and sleep in a castle, then this is a wonderful option.

When we were in Lyon there was a festival occurring where this office is located. Because of that,…read moreit became very difficult for us to find this location, as there are two very similar buildings, on opposite ends of the court square. We kept finding the one that is NOT the Office du Tourisme and Google Maps kept sending us down a street away from the other office. The many festival tents and canopies meant we never saw this office until we were right next to it. The signage outside didn't indicate it was the correct office until you were right next to the front. Anyhow, we found it and were greeted by a very nice receptionist. We explained we wanted to purchase the 3 day pass around town and she escorted us to a clerk. This woman (I forget her name) was absolutely wonderful. She was young, with darker blonde hair. She spoke excellent English and showed us a map and circled all the areas of town we should visit. She set us up on an English walking tour of Old Lyon (which was also fantastic!), and by the end of our talk she had shown us a great floating restaurant to visit (The Star Ferry) and explained this was a place she and her friend visit regularly. We did end up going there for beer and cider (my favorite!) and had a wonderful time. Visiting this office was crucial for us. We found so much to do and the card was ridiculously inexpensive for all of the great sites we got to see. We went on a boat tour, the walking tour, had endless trips on the lift up to the top part of Lyon, visited the Fine Arts Museum, etc. We miss Lyon so much. I know we will be back and when we do this is the first stop for us. I hope to even see the same girl. She was awesome!

They offered to schedule a walking tour which I already scheduled with another on trip advisor and the river cruise boat tour for the next day. I used the card for transportation to the Basilica Fourviere on the hill taking the Funicular both ways. I tried to go to the Miniature Museum by it was only half price. Another museum only offered a small discount. I did not go to any other museums because I didn't see any while walking around. I did take the river cruise. So overall it wasn't worth purchasing.
