Not only is the photographer immensely talented and able to capture her subject and make them comfortable; but the studio itself is like no other. This is the second (or maybe my third) time having photos taken by Kim. I found myself in need of an updated headshot so professional photos of my husband and I became a priority. I contacted Kim because I remembered how comfortable I felt during the previous sitting. Her ability to relax even reluctant (adult) participants is exceptional in my experience. Scheduling was a breeze and Kim graciously accommodated us with my already existing hair appointment. The number of options in her outdoor studio made it difficult for us to limit our choices. They have set up the backyard (and front porch) into various, interesting backdrops so if you want some outdoor shots you don't have to risk the unpredictability of a park or other outdoor setting. They also have indoor options as well. This set up gave our family the flexibility to take some playful, casual outdoor photos as well as classic indoor photos. My daughter recently had her senior photos taken by Kim and even though our family portrait was just a couple of months later, there was enough variety that we never felt like we were duplicating the senior photos. As a present, we decided to take professionally family photographs, which we haven't done in many years. Now in most instances, this would not be an issue, and typically, pictures come out great like a loving family everyone appears to be. My personally challenge is a bit unique to our culture. My parents are Korean. Smiling is something almost frown upon in pictures. Its actually culturally disturbing, but it is how my parents were raised. Laurie at Campbell Salgado Studio - was able to not only get great family pictures of us, but she made my mom and dad smile and enjoy themselves. That's worth its weight in gold. You can't buy that. For me, the professionally, one-stop shop, and high quality work made all the difference. While money was not a big issue, as we see this as an investment, there were some great packages designed to provide the most value. For me living in New York, it was very easy working with them over email and coordinating with my parents what they wanted. Great Christmas gift. Indeed it was hard to narrow the field down. Kim's excellent staff offered expert advice and made the process of placing the order as easy as it can be. I turned out to be a very "discerning" client, and I was again accommodated to make me totally happy with our photos and their presentation. As good as it gets? To say the least. We were treated with nothing but professionalism, love, and honesty when working with this business. To say that the team is incredible is an understatement. We were invited in to Kim and Francisco's home, it is not just their studio. Kim, her assistant Allie, the planning session, e mailed suggestions on what to wear to get the best out of the seating, phone call reminders, and price lists given before photos were taken were just a few things that this studio offered. When my family of four showed up for our photo session we were taken to a private room to be able to primp and change into whatever clothes we wanted for the part of the session that we were doing. Their back yard studio was colorful, rustic and true. The kids got to play through their shoot and the camera was pretty much unnoticed by both of them. We never once heard Kim say "Smile" as a true artist acquires shots from true life, not poses. It took less than a week to see photos, which was like a million years only because I knew they would be the best photos ever. I was able to go in to see the photos in their home in a private room with the shades drawn. They composed a slide show of all the photos played on a big screen to beautiful music. I was a sobbing mess by the end of it. We are still trying to widdle down the photos we want to have and display in our home. An incredible family experience with amazing and loving professionals. I've had pictures taken there for the last 8+ years. . . and i never paid more than about $1000. When I did pay the $1000 I got a lot of pictures. The prices that were quoted by Kim L. seem really off to me. They do amazing work and you get what you pay for! If you want lower cost pictures go to Sears or Kiddie Kandids.
