A tucked away playground that isn't so secret…read more.. Found this playground through a friend who lives in the neighborhood. It's tucked away in suburbia and a collection of baseball diamonds. You wouldn't know it was here unless you live close by. Wonderful place to play! Must be new to the baseball diamonds. During COVID19 review: A playground that isn't so secret...Many visitors were here while we came out during the middle of a work day. There were a lot of kids running around including my own and a friend's. Kids were not social distant. Two kids wore masks while their mom had one on as well. The rest of the kids were not masked. The playground is super fun! Slides, slides, and more slides. Rubber playground surfacing and updated equipment make it phenomenal. The mini zip line seat is the highlight! Rolling slide and horizontal rolling slide. Plenty of swings as well. The playground is an all inclusive one: accessible pieces of equipment that were created and designed that allows all children to play of different abilities, skills, and conditions. We love these playgrounds! Highly recommend visiting! Will be coming back if there are smaller crowds.

Its got a zipline and a seesaw and a huge play set. I recommend visiting. Its a miracle park for handicapped people. And there is a bathroom nearby but its usually locked unless the miracle field is being used. I love going here at least weekly if not more. If you stand from the park side of the (well kept) trail, and go right down the trail. After a five minute walk there is another fun park with a little library. You have to cross the street once though (if you have little runners). I recommend the miracle park no question it is an amazing resource for disabled children and is wheelchair accessible. If you want to know about more good parks in the area, walker johnston park, terra park, and if you are willing to go for a 35 minute ride from the north view park area (urbandale), big creek park. It is…read moreimportant to note that Triumph Park is not only a playground but also a recplex of sorts with multiple ball fields, small lake with a fishing dock, and walking trails. But I am am here to talk about the playground portion because I was blow away! Everyone else must be as pleased and excited as I am because on a Friday evening the place was packed. Pulling up I was fearful I made the wrong choice seeing all of the cars and kiddos running around but there is so much to do on the playground and it is a large enough space that it still was enjoyable for my step daughter. I also want to note that my stepdaughter is upper elementary school age and parks are hit and miss given her size/age. Triumph Park playground is a HIT and reminds me of those expensive indoor obstacle parks you pay to go to - Did I mention this is a public park so it is FREE!? There is also ample parking since it is adjacent to the ball diamonds. One of my favorite parts is that the base (floor) of the playground is solid with a rubber mat or faux grass materials with padding underneath for a little cushion to protect your littles. Also no mess! - Who ever allowed sandbox/woodchip playgrounds anyways, yuck! I am not sure I can describe this next feature well but most of the structure is sort of built into the ground. The main portion is dug into a "hole" so the landscape itself is fun for the kids to run up and down, it is also lined with faux grass and cushion. (I told you I wouldn't describe that well, you will just have to go see it for yourself!). There is plenty of play spaces for little kids but the tall, tall slides for the big kids and towers to get to them are INSANE. I have never seen anything like it in a public, outdoor park. They also have really fun spins (literally) on a merry-go-round and teeter-totter, the kids really seemed loved these. I not sure how else to describe it other than I was extremely impressed. We will be visiting many times this summer and telling all of our friends!

We were walking around and noticed there was a playground that was just 10 min from our house! It has a basketball court, soccer field, swings, benches and 2 separate play areas. One play area looks like it was made for toddler age kids and the other for older kids. I love that they have one for the little kids. It was perfect for my son. He loved the slides and climbing. We were with my 9 year old nephew and he loved swinging on the equipment and the monkey bars. And especially the rock climbing wall. The playground also has that rubber ground that's much better than the wood chips you see at most playgrounds. There are also benches located around the playground for parents to sit and watch their kids. Plenty of swings but I do wish they had more than one bucket swing though because at all other parks we've been to there were at least two. It would be more convenient. There is parking but it's also right next to a school so there's more parking if needed. There are trails that lead to the park and that's how we discovered it in the first place. We will definitely be coming back to the park, it's conveniently located and my son and nephew had so much fun and asked to come back another time.

During COVID19 review: Came out on a week day 9:00am-11:00am with a friend with her two kids and it was pretty busy. 5 other families with at least 3-5 kids in each family were out here. They were not affiliated with each other. Social distancing is challenging with kids. Families tried to keep their kids together but many wanted to play with each other. No one was wearing masks but adults were keeping distance. BEAUTIFUL park with great scenery (if you don't mind the construction by the IPTV station) Soft trail for walking near the playgrounds and lake and a hard trail for walking/biking into the woods. Fishing is allowed at the lake! Picnic shelters and amphitheater near by. There is also a community center up the hill. Playgrounds are very fun and unique with 1 structured as a tree house. It's a fully equipped park! We enjoy coming here since it's close to our home. Highly recommend exploring this beautiful Johnston park. Might be the best one in Johnston yet!

This park has four things going for it:…read more 1) The parking lot - this is some of the smoothest, most buttery concrete ever. If you like skateboarding, this is a niiiiiiiiiice spot. There's tons and tons of room, you can take it up, down, around and get some good inertia, no cracks, rocks or sharp turns. 2) The big pond - when it's hot outside my kids like to play in the water (yes, I know it's probably filthy), and it's a nice walk-around too. 3) The perpetual centripetal motion whirlygig - This thing is no joke. I got spun on a it for a hot minute and had a hilarious time trying to walk like the sober person I am. A silly toy, but tons of fun. 4) The zip rail - I will never get too old for these. Fight me for it.

It's a bit off the beaten path but once you find the parking lot you're home free. The park has a lovely little bridge over a creek leading you from the parking lot to a path that circles the area. A nice dual playground is available for the chilluns and is big enough that little and big kiddos have heir space. Other entertainment options here include a basketball court, a tennis court, a big field to run around in or play catch in and a lovely picnic area. I have no idea how long the path circling the area is, but a couple folks that were running seem to come around about every 10 minutes or so. Seems like it was probably a good size on which to take a walk,especially if you have a stroller and some kiddos. Not too long, but long enough that everybody get some exercise. For anybody who's in the area, or passing through and just needs to get out and run around, this park is a great place to come spend an hour and let the kids have a bunch of different ages run around and burn off some energy. There is also plenty of places for adults to hang out, making for a very pleasant afternoon. Well worth checking out!

A small park and splash pad for this Waukee neighborhood…read more First day of June and it was packed! It can be overwhelming when there's a lot of people. Great way to meet new friends tho. Splash pads open up earlier than pools so this place was a hit. I would say the splash pad is aimed for ages 1-5. Any age older might get really bored. The water is a spray ground with two sprinkling trees. The park was kind of hidden between houses. You can definitely miss it to the drive way in. Google maps has the entry marked incorrectly. There is a building you can rent for parties and two covered picnic table areas to seat outdoor parties. No mature trees yet. Tree shade was very few. The play ground is very spacious and open. I would say the playground is aimed for ages 5-10. Overall I think this park is a cool addition for the neighborhood. Bring little kids out here....but be mindful: BIG kids might get bored. 3 stars for esthetically pretty and function. Lost a couple stars because it didn't hit all the fun for my older kids and the water pad wasn't a full splash of fun.

There is also a new community shelter that is a tornado safe room. The super lame part of this safe room is that it's locked!! It's only for private rentals and events. So if there is a tornado, make sure to book the shelter in advanced so you can use the safe room. The kids climber and slides are excellent. They are newer, safe plastic without any sharp metal parts protruding. There is even a huge metal slide that is built into the ground. It's like the old school slides we had as kids. It's so fun. The kids love it. I even tried it a few items. Let me tell you, as an adult that weighs more than 2 or 3 kids, you fly down that slide!! It's almost a little scary how fast you go as an adult. The kids are fine but adults who weigh more really take off. At the base of the slide, be ready to dismount because it launches you! I would have given this park 5 stars but the restrooms make it a 4. The restrooms are gross. While there are probably nice, clean restrooms in the shelter, it's only for private rentals or events. Most of the public restrooms are port-a-potties. At the open shelter toward the east next to the police station, there are restrooms with running water, but they are just as gross. Also, there is no soap in these restrooms. Even with the restroom status, this park is definitely a must for all ages.
