Damn dudes, how am I snagging the first review on this one?…read more I recently came here for a wedding. It was good. It was probably the best wedding I've ever been to. It felt like a summer camp. For adults. Why? Because it pretty much *is* a summer camp, for kids. NatureBridge is a non-profit that does nature things with kids to make them more nature-y. I don't know the details, go to their website! Anyway, the wedding took place over 3 days. Guests stayed in bunk beds, in cabins. Had group meals provided. Went canoeing. And enjoyed nearby trailheads. The venue is historic and gorgeous. What could be better than getting married next to a ginormous lake in a massive National Park? The food was good and they even catered to folks with weird diets. The whole setup reminded me a lot of the Mazama Lodge on Mt Hood. The staff was also incredible: funny, charming, talented, and beyond helpful! If you're into getting married, consider here. Everyone else, cross your fingers and hope you get invited to one.

My child came home each day full of stories about the outdoor adventures, new friends, and exciting activities like archery, canoeing, and campfire songs. One of the things I appreciate most is how the camp helps kids grow in independence. Away from their usual routines and screens, campers learn to make decisions for themselves--whether it's choosing a new activity to try, solving small challenges, or managing their time during the day. That sense of ownership builds confidence and resilience. Camp Seymour also does a great job of encouraging goal setting. Each camper is guided to set personal goals--big or small--and work toward achieving them. It might be something like trying the climbing wall for the first time or learning how to paddle a canoe. These goals help kids feel accomplished and proud of what they can do, especially when they step out of their comfort zones and succeed. The camp's values of community, respect, and personal growth really shine through in everything they do. It's a place where kids can be themselves, try new things, and build skills that stick with them long after camp is over. We're already looking forward to next summer!

She was excited when we signed up, but a little apprehensive when I dropped her off. I was nervous that she was a bit too young, but this was definitely not the case. She came home wanting to go right back, already talking about next summer, and how she wants to work with her when she is older. The staff are wonderful, they have great food, including a vegetarian option for her (so important), and it's a beautiful place. Definitely recommend!

During Covid times,…read moreriding and instruction is limited to people who stable their horses at the farm but otherwise, this is a wonderful place to spend a few magical hours either riding a horse yourself or watching a child ride their first (or fiftieth) horse. The barn area is large and has jumps for riders to attempt. Instructors were patient and inspirational for the kids that were riding when I went to Blue Heron. There is an upstairs office where you can watch the riders. Definitely would recommend spending some time at Blue Heron but call ahead to see what the rules are regarding visitors, teaching, etc.

We had some free time to take advantage that Lake Crescent had to offer such as kayaking, hiking, and swimming. If you can, do it all. There's a harder hike that ascends for 1.7 mi (we didn't do that) and another easier hike that leads to a waterfall. Lake Crescent is serene and blue for kayaking unless there are motorboats going by. Then the water ends up being choppy. I found out from Wikipedia that the reason why the water is so blue is because it is devoid of nitrogen, preventing the growth of algae. Another must see visit...

Kayaking, canoes, down to earth staff, and beautiful scenery. The cabins are fun and just a step up from camping. It felt like summer camp. The stars are extremely bright from here, due to low lights in the surrounding area. Shooting stars galore.... Highly recommended for a visit if the situation permits.

I attended Canoe Island as a kid for 7 straight summers. Those were the happiest times of my life. I was able to go back as an adult for a Yoga Weekend two years ago and the magic has not been lost. If you love the outdoors, fresh air, and a true unique experience, then you must experience Canoe Island! Sigh...I wish I was there right now! Send your kids there or spend an adult weekend enjoying yoga or cooking tasty cuisine. I promise, you won't be disappointed!
