There were a few iffys about the campground. There was no stated check in/check out time in an email or online, no updated pictures or map of the grounds, only one shower per gender in the only bath house on the entire property, and the tent spaces were no less than 8 feet apart. This is a secluded camp ground that is right on the Kentucky River. The GPS told us we were there, about 1/4 mile short of their entrance. A handwritten sign on the side of the road continued our road guidance. We were using this park as our home base for one week of visiting the distilleries in the area. With a significant amount of rain during the week, the park was a mess. The lawn wasn't mowed and it was above ankle height. Having to walk a dog in that, guaranteed soaking wet shoes and feet each time. They did tell us that both lawnmowers were broken and they would mow as soon as one of them was fixed. Two days before our departure, they mowed the grass. It was apparent that there were full time residents there, based on the amount of garbage and "yard art" next to their RVs. Some of the pads were defined. Several were concreted or gravel. Ours was mush. After trudging through it to get the rig level, I found that the sewer line was in the front of the site. On our RV, its in the back. Fortunately, with 30' of hose on board, no problem. Next, where is the water supply? Oh, we have to go over and share with the neighbor. There were plastic splitters on each head. The pressure was good. I did need the full 50' of hose to make it over to the neighbor's side. . Most all of the sites are in the trees on the South and East side of the property along the river. There is no cable TV. No problem, we have a satellite dish. All it has to do is face SOUTH. With 150 feet of coax we ran the line across the road in front and onto the far side of the median to see the southern sky. There was one other rig that did that. The rest had NO TV. We have AT+T phone service. There was none there. Nor was their Sprint either. The park provides WiFi service, which worked sporadically. We were less than 200 feet from the office and could not read emails or send text messages while connected. The best reception was on the office porch, as I saw most people going there to make phone calls. The management does have a land line for emergencies if needed. There is a trash dumpster for refuse located next to the office. It was full and swarming with flies throughout the week. On the Saturday night after the 4th, they had a fireworks display which was quite a treat. It was over by about 10 p.m. However, the OWNERS continued to drink and party until 4:30 a.m. In the morning, there were beer bottles and trash all around the front of the office. A number of the guests were angry that they were kept up all night by the management of the park. Of all the above, I think that was inexcusable! I think this could be a nice park. The management needs to commit to making this a clean, fun place to stay. Right now, it is not. read more

Love Love Love this place!!!!! Oh my goodness where to start....The people are amazing!!!! The grounds are well kept. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend, we were a 3 family group with lots of kids. They were so welcoming to all of us and treated us just like family. The manager was the absolute best!! He came down to our camp sight and told the kids a scary story around the camp fire (they are still talking about it). We will defiantly be going back in the near future. Camp on the Kentucky will be one of the permanent spots on our summer camping trips. read more

Hole in the wall campground that sits on beautiful views of the Kentucky River. Been here several times and the owners are friendly and easy going making this a great place to come on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy nature. There is a county boat ramp about 100 feet from the entrance of the campground making canoeing down the KY extremely easy. read more

This was a great find! Everyone was very nice and accommodating and the drive in was spectacular. The campsite's grounds were beautiful as well. As rookie campers on our first 5 day RV trip we were treated like family and had a great time. We stayed here as a home base for out KY bourbon tours. The campground uses a long and winding country road to get back into the place, and is seated right on the river. We brought a 45' coach bus and 28' trailer, and were able to make it into the campground with no problem. The owners are extremely friendly, and have made several improvements to the property since they purchased it years ago. The power was clean, and they had very good water pressure when we were there. The grounds are clean and highlighted by the River which is the showcase of the facility. read more

I stayed here while I worked in the area. The camp ground is very secluded and tranquil . very quiet and peaceful. The staff treated me like I was family and were so friendly. The bath house was always clean and well stocked. the location was perfect. located right on the Kentucky river. some really good small mouth fishing right there on the bank of river. Ill be bring my family back this summer and plan on making they campground a summer getaway destination every summer. read more

I am tired of owners and friends of owners giving good reviews to themselves. This place is awful. We had to wait 1/2 hour for the people to show up to the office. By that time we found the only decent spot in the place and pulled our RV in. When the women (2 of them, out at the same time) showed up she rudely told us to to move to a different spot. We pulled up to that spot, there was a pick up truck from the permanent spot next door blocking our spot. I walked on to the spot to look at it. She had not even cleaned the spot. The sewer had toilet paper and poop all over it. We were extremely flustered it was 5:00 at night, our first time pulling our trailer. We were planning on staying there for a month. they have 25 spots there and this woman acted like she had such a hard job. Most of the people there were year round, you could tell because they had garbage and belongings scattered all over around there trailers. We left and thank God found a real RV park about 30 miles away. These people should be ashamed of themselves for having such a beautiful piece of property and letting it go like they have and for reviewing themselves so that people like us show up and get extremely disheartened. Our GPS quit working and we actually ended up at this camp unexpectedly. Were told they were closed (not what any of the three websites we've been able to discover claim) but would take our $190.00 cash for a weeks stay and would see the gentleman the next day with our paperwork and heat tape for the water hydrant. Never saw them again. No receipt for our cash payment and the water is coming in sporadically because the hydrant is freezing, unprotected. Additionally, there is large black dog that runs all over the campground, and is especially fond of our site, far from the others. This dog has urinated all over our outdoor chairs, our motorhome steps, the picnic table provided by the hosts, our shoes and metal detector, rendering it unable to function, taken a plate of food off our picnic table and made it impossible for us to enjoy the outdoors. We're leaving early, at a financial loss. It's that bad. read more
