Now I know that Camp Bow Wow will not only let him play all day, but they have workers there that truly care about the dogs. He is going to have his own little vacation. I have never written a review on a place, but found it irresponsible and negligent if I did not write one for Camp Bow Wow. I entrusted Camp Bow Wow with my dog over this past weekend (9/11-9/14). During her stay, I would occasionally check the cameras to make sure she was doing okay: a service the camp offers. On 9/14 in particular, my dog was let out early in the morning, put up in a kennel following a "time-out" for rough playing (supposed to be 15 minutes) and was not let back out until 2pm after I repeatedly called requesting my dog be let out for the service I pay for. When watching to see if she was out, I noticed this staffer repeatedly pick up dogs by their collars and throw them back down, including my own dog. He would approach dogs and they would run away from him fearfully. Additionally, when dogs bark the staff (multiple staffers) spray them in the face with a cleaning bottle filled with water. My dog was wet in the face/head when I picked her up and they wrote it off as her "playing in the water bowl" --after I had seen the staff spray her in the face. Upon picking my dog up I spoke with Ashley the manager privately in the office. She asked me to send these to her email, as the staff was having a meeting that night. I spoke with her about this behavior and raised concerns on dogs with chronic neck pain who are being picked up by their collars aggressively, to which she told me that the camp does have. During her stay I was also notified of an improperly diluted chemical that the dogs had access to during their stay this weekend. They rinsed the dogs off following the incident and claimed that my dog has shown no signs of exposure. All four of her feet were brick-red with irritation and I had her seen by the ER staff at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. I want to come on here and say, do NOT bring your dogs to camp bow wow. The employees and management do not take care of the animals the way they say they do. They will put one counselor in the yard with TWENTY FIVE dogs, and expect us to break a fight up in the matter of seconds. They do not watch, and care after your dog. Some dogs paws and belly's are full of pee. And don't get me started on the cabins, dogs will go all day with poop, pee, and a dirty water bowl and blanket. The management doesn't do anything, other than fire the people that actually care about the dogs and their well being. This work environment is toxic and management will walk around and vape throughout the whole building. (It is prohibited to vape anywhere on the property). Everyone over there are keyboard warriors, and won't bring up a problem in person. . Please take the time to read and review this, and do your research before boarding your dogs here. read more

Short Version: Camp Bow Wow let my dog get injured to the point of profusely bleeding for multiple hours, did not clean or attend to the injury, induced an allergic reaction in my dog, refused to let me see the video, did not know how the dog was injured, and did not cover the resulting vet bills. Brought my dog here years ago. It's been a while, so we had to re-interview. Took a minute to get greeted by the front desk attendant, but once she was taken to the back, she was there for maybe 5 minutes before she was brought back to me, saying she was not going to be accepted due to the large amount of dogs for the weekend and she was too anxious. Was scheduled again for Monday, but if i cannot even speak to a manager, i definitely do not want to return! They tried to get a rowdy poodle to interact with my dog, and that didn't go well. So they brought another "mellow" older dog out that was also very active and that didn't go so well either. Given that my dog doesn't know if the human will protect her, that trust isn't established, it's not far fetched that they would need to get acclimated to the counselors. My dog is almost 9 years old, and personally wish the camp would give older dogs a little bit more time to get acclimated with other dogs before giving up. Also, apparently there isn't management on staff to speak with, and the young lady that i spoke with said they were trained to "read dogs minds". Which made me cackle so hard, because how can you read anyone's mind. But i digress! Was told there was over 100 dogs at the baton rouge location today and at 6pm still had over 60 dogs, which is another reason why the interview didn't work. I was concerned at the amount of time I was leaving my dog at home in a kennel. She loves other pups at the dog park and has lots of energy. I had heard mixed reviews and decided to find out for myself what they were all about. We had an interview day that went extremely well everyone was super nice and really loved my dog and they seemed super excited to have her there. It's been a month or so and yeah they are super pricy but totally 110% worth it. Every morning I bring her they know who she is I see her well taken care of on camera and at pick up and drop off. Even off the clock if an employee is there has stopped to say hello to her. I love how excited they get her to play. By the end of the week (Friday) she is totally exhausted and every morning she sits by the door excited and ready for camp. My friends like to pick on me saying I take my kid to school every morning except it's a dog. They aren't wrong she has her first day of camp picture her backpack if she does boarding and baths and they even do cuddle buddy for boarding stays and leave the cutest notes of how she was and acted. ANDD...to top it all off they even have special events for holidays like her Easter egg hunt!!! What can I say she is so spoiled and boujee! Just glad she can get her energy out and I don't have to worry through out the day or feel guilty for having to leave her so long. Camp bow wow is the best!! Upon meeting the staff at Camp Bow Wow I was initially pleased with the way things appeared to be. I got to look around and decided to go ahead and have my 7 month old Rottweiler stay there for boarding while we went to California. I noticed them spraying the dogs with water in their faces frequently on the cameras and was bothered by how much it was being overused. When I returned home and went to pick him up, he was supposed to have been bathed and given the "spa treatment". He was wet, smelled like mildew, and was only fed half the food that they were instructed to feed him. After being home for a day I discovered that he was sick as well. He is now in ICU at LSU Small Animal Hospital fighting for his life. He has pneumonia in both lungs from aspirating the filthy water they spray at the dogs faces when they are out in the play yard. I reached out to management to try and get at least an apology for half starving him the whole time and nearly costing us his life but I have yet to receive a response. I do not recommend ever leaving your dogs at Camp Bow Wow. Praying my boy survives. read more

My parents went on a cruise, boarding their dog for the first time at Camp Bow Wow. Their dog was naturally anxious and would not eat. I called them and their staff not knowing me filled me in the situation and took my contact information so I could be informed of the situation. I cannot tell you how overjoyed I was that they called me later to let me know she finally ate! The staff genuinely care, and will go out of their way to ensure your dog's care. Took my dog to camp and boarded only for him to get kennel cough. I called to tell them and the girl didn't even care or ask a question. I heard a dog coughing on my way out and did t even think that's what he had. The employees are supposedly trained. So if they hear a dog coughing they should send them home are separate. We travel a lot so My dogs have boarded here for at least 30 nights/year since 2014. We've never had any issues except kennel cough one time. I was shocked this morning when they called me and told me I couldn't board my dogs any longer unless I paid for them to come in for day camp. I'm not sure why this new change in rules. Had one training session with a trainer from this camp bow wow location and wasted about $200. The trainer told me to smack, yell at, and overall just hurt my 4 month old puppy when she made accidents on the floor. He didn't even want to see her when he walked into my apartment either--so we never even really knew where to go with training her. The only good thing he told me was to get her to "focus"... that's really it. A friend of mine boarded her big dog here too, and he got kennel cough from it--but the workers never told her about it, probably because they didn't want to be held liable for vet expenses. She also saw two dogs bleeding when she picked up her dog there, because they got in a fight and the workers were on their phones when they should have been watching. read more

I love camp bow wow! How lucky is Baton Rouge to have such an awesome fun place for dogs! I first met the staff there when I dropped off a foster dig that was really too large to be around my very small dogs. Camp Bow Wow works with the local rescue group Yelp!BR by actually fostering a dog! What? A business helping out without expecting $$ in return? What an awesome group of dog lovers this is! Every camp counselor basically came out to meet Happy their new foster pup. I'd be picking Happy up for adoption events but was still sad to leave her thinking she's get lost in the crowd but I had nothing to worry about. She is loved by then all. For 6 years we have sent our dogs to camp bow wow and been extremely satisfied with their camp, training, and boarding. The staff is wonderful and our dogs have loved going. After 2 incidents, We will no longer send our dogs to camp bow or recommend it to anyone. In the spring of 2018, our dog was bitten by another dog in the play yard and sustained a deep puncture wound that needed vet treatment. We were on vacation at the time and we felt that camp bow wow handled the situation well and brought our dog to our vet for treatment and covered the bills. We were told the dog had had a history with aggression against doodles and would no longer be allowed at camp bow wow, so we continued to send our dogs here. On June 24, 2020, our second dog was attacked in the play yard and received 3 puncture wounds that required both internal and external stitches. Because this was the second time our dogs have been injured at Camp Bow Wow and no one from their team reached out to discuss the plan of action following the attack or to check on our dog, we set up a meeting to discuss the attack. When we asked if the attacker would be allowed to continue going to camp bow wow, the managers said yes because this was the dog's only incident of aggression. Despite our many years of positive experiences, we can no longer and will no longer send our dogs to a place that refuses to take precautions to ensure the safety of our dogs and other dogs in their care. read more

The facility is immaculate and I love being able to view the dogs on my phone. I highly recommend them for daycare or overnight. Very nice staff and my dogs enjoy this CBW more than the one I was previously a Manager at so that says a lot. They are really on top of everything and very organized which I always appreciate. Although they follow Corporate guidelines more so than some others do they still are willing to help however much they can. I feel very comfortable leaving my dogs with them and have not had any issue with coming home sick or not wanting to return the next day. So no complaints and always good to be involved with another camp family here in Baton Rouge. read more

I've been taking my pup here for about 2 years now. We first started coming just to do training sessions with Patrick (who's amazing!!) and eventually I started leaving her for camp. They are very patient with the dogs, especially timid ones like mine. My dog loves it here and every time I pick her up she's exhausted (in a good way). I love watching her on the cameras playing with her friends. Recently she stayed over night for a couple days while I was on vacation and they treated her perfectly, they even gave her a kong treat every day! My wife and I went on vacation and boarded our Labrador at Camp Bow Wow for a week. (This was the second time we have boarded her there) When we got to Sasha upon our return, she could barely stand on her own, was very thin, suffered with non-stop labored breathing, a hacking cough, and appeared noticeably scared, stressed and confused. We rushed her to the vet where they immediately put her in the hospital in isolation on fluid IVs. Her diagnosis was as follows: severe dehydration and malnutrition, the loss of 9lbs in 6 days, fever of 105, high, increased respiratory rate (tachypnea), bronchitis, the beginning stages of pneumonia, zero appetite, and stress. Nobody called us. When we called to check on her, they replied as usual, "Here at Camp Bow Wow, no news is good news." There are too many dogs and not enough people to be able to adequately take care of them on a daily basis. I will never use their services again. read more

I did not have a good experience boarding my dogs with this facility. Attendants bored and not responsive to the dogs needs. Also, I do not think my dogs seemed happy in a large, poorly ventilated room with other dogs wondering and barking. No toys allowed in the "camp" enclosure. I have 3 dogs that have been going to Camp Bow Wow for over 3 years now. They have done day camp and boarding multiple times. They have boarded when it wasn't a busy holiday but they have also boarded more then once when it was. I have never had an issue until this Thanksgiving. Every time I would go to check on my pups while out of town I would see staff members not paying attention to their only job the dogs! Very careless and more worried about talking to the other employee in the yard then what a dog is doing behind them. This is the worst and most careless I have ever seen them be while being out of town. I was honestly shocked and wondered what was going on! I get a call from camp the day before we were supposed to pick up our girls from boarding that one of them had been bit by another dog! These are my babies so naturally I was distraught to get this call. The picture I received of my dog made me even more sad seeing a chunk out of her ear and blood all over her. How helpless I felt that I couldn't be there for her and I'm miles away. I was told by Nina, who is supposed to be director of operations at this camp, she would review footage and see what happened. The story of the video I got from Nina was my dog and another were playing and mine turned around and he caught her on the ear. Okay an accident right? They were playing to rough right? Wrong! I went and saw the video with my own eyes and my dog in fact was not playing with him the entire 10 minutes I watched. They had a group of dogs playing and wrestling around crazy on the floor. The moment it happened he was focused on another dog to run and go play and mine tried to join them as all the others were and when she did he turned around to her a bit her ear and then shook his head as well as she did and walked off. He didn't even try to play with her at all. It was more of a no I am playing with this one and get out my way. As I am watching this footage I am being lied to of what is happening in front of my own eyes. I was told this wasn't aggression and granted it wasn't attack aggression but if a dog is in a play environment with multiple dogs and he gets mad because another one wants to play and his reaction is to bit them that hard then something is wrong. I also brought up to Nina the paper you sign to be able to even leave your dog there that it says you are responsible for any vet bills etc if your dog damages anything. She had to pull out the file and didn't even know what was on it and proceeded to tell me they don't usually enforce that?! Are you kidding me?! She told me she would maybe try to talk to the other owner since they had been there a long time and to send her the vet bill and they might would offer to pay. Very long story short. I was lied to about what happened, even while watching it for myself, I was told maybe I shouldn't bring my dogs there anymore, I was told I was being obsessive, I was told I was nit picking at everything they were doing, and I was made to feel like it was my dogs fault and she did something wrong and was no longer welcome. No one ever offered even an apologize or anything. There was not one ounce of remorse of how I was feeling. Just being told it could of been worse and it wasn't that bad. I don't even believe after being lied to at every turn the other owner was contacted. Every time I would ask if they were, not asking for any personal info, I was brushed off. I just wanted to write this so other people will know if you do go here to watch your dog and if something happens you won't get any remorse or kindness. I most defiantly will not bring my dogs back here and put them in a situation where if something happens it is handled so poorly and swept under the rug as oh well it happens. They 100 percent could have and should have handled the entire situation better! read more

Camp bow wow is the best dog day camp and boarding there is, but Baton Rouge CBW is the best of them all!! My doberkid has been to four CBW's during our travels and moving. The staff is friendly, they remember you, you can watch your dog play, the entire building is clean, and you don't have to feel guilty about leaving your dog because they have a blast! Also if you have a hyper breed like mine it's nice for them to be exhausted. I LOVE that this camp bow wow is open all day Sunday. The only problem with the CBW near my new home is the Sunday hours are split so they do not really do much playing on Sunday's. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. RUDE STAFF. If I could give this place no stars I would. Do not take your dogs here. It is over-crowded and understaffed. The staff was not friendly at all or attentive to my dogs or their needs. They kept referring to my male dog as "her/she" even as I continued to correct them, yet they just ignored me. The staffer must not have known what dog she was even talking about. Their so called "play yard" is a concrete room maybe 10X15 feet with over 25 dogs in it at a time. They say there are always 2 campers with the dogs but every time I checked the cameras there was 1 or none at all. When I asked about my dogs stay the staff just said "I wasn't here this morning, that's just what the morning staff said." They were rude and clearly did not know what they were talking about. I used to bring my dog here frequently when they first opened and it was fantastic. I don't know if the management changed or they can't handle success but it has drastically changed. I will never go back here, and I suggest you don't either. Please share this with your friends so they don't put their dogs through the trouble my dogs had. There are few places in Baton Rouge where I can legitimately say they try their best to make their customers happy and they CARE. I can 100% say that about this branch of Camp Bow Wow. From boarding & day camp to grooming - this group is great. They make an effort to get to know you & your pup. I love that! They're super approachable, so anytime I have a question or concern they're helpful & accommodating. Displeased with this location. Was told that my dog was left in her suite for the majority of her visit because she "hissed" at the counselors and they were scared that she would "bite" them. I have a 6lb. Min Pin. Also was told they couldn't do they nail trim I requested. Mind you, I've boarded her at Camp Bow Wow in Dallas and had this service done without an issue. Also never had an issue with her behavior either. My dog was pretty traumatized after boarding here. The staff seems pretty young and inexperienced. I expressed that she would gravitate toward the counselors due to her lack of socialization, and I don't feel they gave her much attention at all (leaving her in her suite). Never had this issue in Dallas. They were very attentive and said she was the sweetest dog. Also, one of the counselors called her "spoiled" when I picked her up. I watched my dog (Nola) try to interact with them when I picked her up and witnessed the lack of attention they showed her. Will never board her at this location again. read more

I left my Shi Tzu for 5 days at Camp Bow Wow in Baton Rouge while on vacation, When he went on his interview he passed with flying colors and I told them that I would be going out of town 3 days from his interview so she gave me an application to fill out with information as to where he goes to the vet, two names of family members that would NOT be out of town while I'm away. On the last day of my vacation I get a call from a guy in the morning saying my dog was not feeling well and was very weak and wouldn't eat or drink. I asked him to remove him from the other dogs and watch carefully for a little while and if not better to call me back. I told him I will be home by noon the next day. I got another call at the time they were closing that same day saying he was no better. I began to cry, and I said, did somebody kick him or hurt him? She said they were speaking to the staff and trying to see what all happened before he got sick. I then said HE NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION, do you have a vet on staff? She said no, but I am going to put him in Suite 3 so that you can watch him on camera from your phone throughout the night, well that was probably THE WORST THING THEY COULD HAVE DONE! I watched my dog from about 8:00 pm until midnight, I watched him DIE, it was HORRIBLE. My dog was only 7 yrs old and was very healthy, there was NO REASON for his DEATH. I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT NIGHT! When my husband talked to the Director, he admitted that they had dropped the ball, it was their fault that he should have be taken to a doctor, even if we would have said no. He was very apologetic, and said he would get down to the bottom of it and call my husband back. He called back to say they fired the person who was told to get medical attention for him. I'm sorry, that person can go and get another job, but I can't get my dog back! He was my best friend. Today makes a week that he passed away and I can truly say I have cried EVERYDAY since. read more

A young female answered, and as I am asking important questions regarding my dog's stay at Camp Bow Wow, she started laughing at another co-worker and hung up on me.
