TL;DR - Weird setting, but fabulous food.
The story here is complicated. Cameron's is technically an outside catering firm. They used to have a restaurant based at a local garden centre where they were very popular, but they had to leave that venue at short notice. They're now operating out of Cunliffe Hall, the Masonic Hall in Chorley and because they moved at short notice, most folks probably don't know they're here.
They only open for meals on a Sunday, and the venue is a bit odd - it's basically a function suite, and they have a number of tables set up at one end of a very large room. But believe me, it's well worth the visit - the food is fabulous.
We turned up for a family meal and the grub on offer was great. Most folks went for the Bury Black Pudding starter, but my sister had the mushroom soup and I went for the kangaroo steak. Yes, you read that correctly. Everything was absolutely flawless and everyone raved about their starters.
For main course, most folks went for the roast beef which came out beautifully pink. My dad went for fillet steak and I had the duck which was amazingly succulent and juicy. Dessert came round and we went for apple pie and custard and lemon meringue pies - again, everything was absolutely delicious.
Pricewise, it's amazing value. The staff are incredibly friendly and the service was very good. The only reason I can't give them five stars is that the venue is just a bit odd - it does't *feel* like a restaurant, but you could serve this food in a swanky city centre restaurant at double the price and nobody would complain.
Go to Cameron's. Great food. Great prices. Great staff. read more
