I started out pretty tentatively, just learning and exploring. Over time, I got more involved and eventually became the laser shop lead for four years. That experience opened the door for me to build a small business creating bamboo candle lanterns and piggy banks--something I never would have been able to do on my own without access to the tools and support there. That's really what makes a makerspace like this so special. You get access to equipment that would be wildly expensive (and impractical) to own yourself, and you're surrounded by people who are both learning and generously sharing what they know. A recent moment really drove that home for me. I needed to test out my tent system for an upcoming show, but the weather outside was terrible. I was able to set everything up in the common space and run a full test. Honestly--such a small thing, but incredibly helpful, and exactly the kind of flexibility that makes this place so valuable. These days, my focus has shifted to painting, and having studio space at the Asylum has been just as important for this next chapter. I have the room I need to work in encaustic, lay out panels, prep surfaces, and wrap finished pieces for transport. The shared spaces make all of that possible in a way that would be hard to replicate anywhere else. It's a welcoming, diverse environment with something for everyone--whether you're just curious or looking to build something serious. If you've ever thought about trying something new, take a class and see where it leads. You might surprise yourself. Time to get creative.

She has sent several emails requesting information, it's been several months and still has not received a response. I guess they don't care about new business and growing their class offerings. Customer service is not their forte.

Hatch offers weekly classes anything from wood working to laser cutting you can do it here. All the staff are volunteers they are very friendly and are willing and on hand to help you out with your product. Hatch also has classes for kids as well. Parents can bring there kids enjoy doing a classes with them. Some of the things you can do at HATCH: Laser Cutting, Sewing, 3D Printing, Soldering, Wood Working, Lego Mindstorms/ Robotics, Arduino, And more. So if you have a Project, Idea, Invention that you want to bring to life. you can make it happen at "HATCH"

On top of printing the hand for us on short notice, when he found out it was a school project and then being donated to charity, he offered all his time and equipment for free. The facility was very clean, with a considerable amount of equipment to use for various types of projects.

They were incredibly accommodating on my dates, and were very responsive over email! Day of the event, we had arrived 10 minutes late due to traffic but they were gracious and happily waiting for us! They gave us a great rundown on how to choose our scents, and we had a wonderful time creating and naming our own candles! They laughed along with our chaos that 8 ladies bring, and I 10/10 recommend heading over to Rockport Candle Co when you're in town, and DEF recommend booking a private event with them!!!

After a bit of time smelling candles one by one, I selected "Cocktails By The Sea" it smells like a delicious mojito cocktail, with notes of freshly muddled mint, pineapple, sugar, and rum!!!
