It isn't as if it couldn't be a pub, namely because I could see plenty of unused rooms, one of which could at least serve as a front bar. But alas, that is not the case. Anyway, they did sell be a beer, but then rather gruffly told me to go and sit on the couch, of which there weren't all that many. Oh, and as for the beer, yeah, the selection was quite limited, particularly for a place that is trying be to somewhat fancier than normal.

This was a rather pleasant place to stay actually. I found that the service was pretty good,…read moreparticularly since they do have service up to the evening and are always willing to help you out. The grounds were quite lovely, and the rooms were pretty comfortable as well. Being located on one of the main roads into town is pretty handy as well. However, I did find that it was a bit of a hike to get to if you didn't have a car and where relying on the buses, but there are cabs in Maryborough, so that definitely helps.

We stayed in the Blacksmith's Room - a spacious studio with a well-equipped kitchenette, bathroom and double bed. The breakfast provisions included bread, a selection of Beerenberg jams, butter, cereals and milk for breakfast. We found the bed a little bit too soft but otherwise we really loved our stay here. Richard was super friendly and helpful and we loved the quality wooden furniture and cabinets and monogrammed linen.
