Buena Vista was recommended by her geriatric doctor at Kaiser, who told me that their care was better than that provided by her own employer. I took her word for it and scheduled my appointment with them. She was accepted quickly, and from February 2024 through September 2025, she was in their care, providing several visits to my home per week. There were some bumps in the road, which accounts for four stars instead of five (mainly due to under- or constantly revolving staffing and an original social worker who should be in an academic line of work, rather than a public-facing one), but overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend BVH to anyone in need of such care for their loved one(s). I would have been doomed without the medications and supplies provided by BVH. Having to navigate her care by myself was more difficult than I can put into words-- you never imagine having to wipe down walls that have been finger-painted by the feces of a 70-year-old, or carrying the dead weight of a 120-pound woman from a bathroom to a chair because she's forgotten how to use her legs. Her social worker (Marci) stayed with me on the phone while I vented and cried, and offered warm words of kindness. The volunteer coordinator (Kellie) gave me friendship when my world had dwindled down to nothing but centring around my mom and her constant supervision. My second volunteer, Jacky, was amazing. We formed a friendship and still text each other weekly. Unfortunately, because my mom remained on hospice for more than the typical length of time (3 months), due to her condition, she cycled through a handful of nurses, but we ended up with the nurse we liked the most, after she came back from maternity leave. Karen is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life, and she always showed what felt like genuine care and concern for my mom, as well as myself. Estephany was a godsend. I feel that the most underappreciated "angels" of hospice are without a doubt the bathing assistants. They have to put up with tantrums, screaming, crying, and general awkwardness of showering and dressing injured and elderly people who are scared, confused, and sometimes violent. She felt like a friend to me in the time she was with us, and I looked forward to her visits. She was so good with my mom. I'm starting to cry as I type this because she had to endure the same weird ramblings and repeated questions three times a week, every week for over a year, and always did so with a smile. She treated my mom like a human being, with love and respect. That is probably my biggest takeaway from my experience with Buena Vista-- they allowed my mom, who suffered through this tragic disease, to spend the last leg of her life with DIGNITY, which is in short supply for the addled and elderly, trapped in their failing bodies and minds that betray them. Thank you to everyone at BVH who helped us during this dark time. Your generosity will never be forgotten.

I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

Tell your doctor they've done studies. Just say that was a bad move. Let's not try that again causing streaks! Next, I provided, asking to cover one of the wounds with a sticky band aid on hand! Bad mistake for home health because it went beyond blistering and caused panic! After getting The Wound Pros they said do it one way and I forgot and no one fully understood the potential of the wounds again! But it happened! Lastly, and no one could have anticipated and individuals don't need to know the details of repeated hospital admissions and rehab -- even a gentle alternative was too much for the wounds but through home health they got this patient moving again.
