This place specialises in Francesinhas - Portuguese croque monsieurs. The cafe is staffed by young people, but not all of them speak English. I was served by one in English but later a different server attended to me and she didn't speak English. Luckily, we both spoke French but YMMV. The menu is also in Portuguese only but the first server explained it to me.
Got a normal-sized Francesinha - the half portion is only a bit smaller. I was recommended the beef option & fries to go with it so I did that.
The sandwich was good - the sauce was nice & tangy. The toppings were plentiful (especially the steak) & pretty tasty. Overall it was slightly spicy. The fries were OK - good to mop up the sauce with.
Lima cheesecake is a lemon cheesecake. Delicia de Bolacha was supposed to be like tres leches; I asked the waitress if it was that and she said yes. Yet, it seemed to actually be serradura (it was sprinkled with the powdered biscuit & layered with cream). It was good.
This place is cheap. For example soft drinks are the same price as at a convenience store.
There's a play area for kids here, which is cute. read more
