I work at one of the highest rated 5-star resorts in the US. Calypso is no 5 star resort, nor does it have 5-star rates. However, it is exactly what I expected it to be. No doubt it has it's blemishes, but if you overlook them you will see the beauty of what this guest house has to offer. Total relaxation, no pretense, it is what it is. Very tropical. While it caters to the gay community, I was totally comfortable there as a straight male. Outstanding location with easy parking. Normally, I wouldn't give someplace all tens, but Calypso is the exception! It's one of a kind. Wes, the owner, provides personalized service - taking you around the resort and explaining everything. It's a real Florida tropical setting with an island vibe. It's a short walk to the nightlife. The other guests are friendly, and I enjoyed visiting with them over breakfast. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. Beds are very comfy. Bathrooms are spacious with huge showers. Pool is always crystal clear. Its secure - locked gate with ring camera, as well as 2 locks on room. EVERY TIME has been like this. There are lots of repeat visitors for these reasons. The best value anywhere! read more

First off The owner is wonderful. A true gentleman 5 stars for him The property itself has seen better days I wish I could take over for him-as I do restaurant and resort/guest house consulting This property needs TLC which doesn't cost much Clean it up...weed...trim...paint...sweep...the tiki bat areas are disgusting and in need of a serious deep clean The breakfast-wrapped Little Debbie style things- Not good at all Wouldn't be hard to just go to public of Dunkin once a morning and get some muffins or even donuts! The pool needs to be cleaned... This could and should be the top guesthouse like it once was- And i hope to God the owner isn't offended The rooms ARE very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable but again-TLC DONT expect top notch here It is what it is read more

stayed here 3/21/23-4/12/23 this place was a big disappointment as soon as we walked through the gate! The 4 and 5 star reviews and pictures on there web site are a total misrepresentation of the property it is a total dump and should be shut down. our first night at 1:15am someboby was trying to break into our room pretty scary way to be awaken tried calling owner went to voicemail of course no response. Our "keywest cottage" room water ran in room everytime it rained the furniture was garbage should have been thrown out years ago! The property and grounds need a good cleaning a broom and leaf blower would go along ways the breakfast room is a filthy cluttered mess.I could go on and on Wes clean up your act or shut it down you are doing a dis-service to the gay community you got us for $3700.00 never again you should be ashamed of your property!! read more

As always, Wesley is a great host with employee's Jenny and Ryan, seeing to guests every need. I love the lushness of all the trees and palms around the pool, with the under stated solar tiki trorches lighting the paths. Enjoy morning coffee and bagel in the office/kitchen, meeting other guests and solving the world's problems together...wishful. We love the Calypso and walking distance to all the bars and pubs and shopping. read more

I've been staying at this place for three years now. The owners, Wes and Tim, are very sweet -- they take great care of their property and especially, their guests. This last time, the grounds looked amazing -- clearly they'd done some new landscaping and organization since I was last there. What's cool about the Calypso is that it's like a private sanctuary just off the drive with paths to little common, plaza-like areas throughout the property with tables, chairs and fountains. This gives the area a vibe of serenity and a chance to enjoy outdoor space (because, you are in Florida where it isn't freezing, why not?). Whether it's high noon or midnight, the pool is a great area to chill out and have meaningful conversation with the other guests, or the owners' two parrots. WiFi is everywhere and it's fairly fast and thus far, very reliable. Every room has a flat screen TV and a DVD player. Though I haven't been in every bed, my "usual room" has a nice squishy memory foam top King Bed that had me out like a light upon contact. For the waking hours, there's coffee, juice and pastries available every morning -- but both Dunks and Starbucks are in walking distance, as well as a slew of great brunch places. Overall, the Calypso is accessible to everything. When I travel, location to the nightlife is a key consideration. I either want to walk, cab or Uber and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the latter. Fortunately, the Calypso is steps away from all the Wilton Manors bars such as Alibi, Village Pub and Scandals. It's also a cheap Uber ride to Cubby Hole and Ramrod. Really, it's just a great place at a great price. I'll keep coming back for sure. read more

We needed last minute accommodations and just showed up at the office taking a gamble if this was full to capacity or not. Lucky for us, it wasn't and they had only one room available. We snatched it right up. It was our very first visit there and it couldn't have been a better experience. Ryan was very helpful and pleasant in the process and gave us a tour around the property and assured us if there was anything we needed, he would provide. We love the fact there is an on site washer and dryer free to use, even though we didn't utilize that option. The pool was amazing and the landscaping was incredible. We are definitely new loyal customers to this place. Wes, the owner of the property, made it a point to come and greet us personally as well which is not heard of in most places like these. Kudos to you! We will DEFINITELY be back. read more

My partner and I were in need of a one night stay on a busy weekend pre-atlantis cruise. In addition, We were flying to the east coast on a red-eye and needed a very early check-in. Tim and Wes not only accommodated our needs but treated us like family!! Not only was our room ready upon a very early AM arrival, they texted us in advance that that was the case while we were still at the airport! Our room was very charming and reminded us of an adorable Key West bungalow. Tim & West provide an intimate continental breakfast and were eager to give restaurant and bar/club recommendations. The property is well attended to as well as guests requests / needs. We will definitely be staying here whenever we are in the area. Guest house is STEPS from all things GAY with VERY fair pricing. I cannot give this place and its owners and staff enough praise. You are immediately treated like family when you arrive and throughout your entire stay. There is no better location and there is no better rate. This is a great little treasure right off of Wilton Drive around the corner from all the bars and restaurants in Wilton Manors. Wes and Tim as well as Ken will go out of their way to make your stay the most pleasant experience. If you are on the fence with booking at The Calypso Inn...I hope u decide to jump off...and you might as well jump right into the pool while you're at it ;) You will not find accommodations better than this!!! The Calypso Inn is the cutest, MOST unique place that Wilton Manors has to offer...and everything you get for the price, is unheard of. From the whimsical, colorful exterior, to the navy back drop privacy fence surrounding Calypso, to the relaxing, socializing and lounging areas with fountains, the out of the box artwork, special private pathways, a GORGEOUS pool area, surrounded by beautiful, tropical plants and birds...and the most wonderful staff you will ever enjoy your vacation with...Everyone we met was friendly, ready to chat, and have a good ole time. My friend came down from Asheville for the weekend and we completely lucked out. Wes booked us in the Key West Cottage...and we seriously were gasping as we walked through the French doors. Adorable...Colorful...and a little off kilter, which we LOVE...everything we could ever need and want. And did I mention the location??? The Calypso Inn is literally a few walking blocks from the Wilton Manors strip, where everything is happening on any given night, and fun is always right around the corner. Bad customer service and room reservation system. My husband and I requested Key West Cottage for Stonewall Pride weekend and received confirmation of reservation. When we arrived the cottage was already occupied and staff tried to give us another room. Owner arrived and kept insisting he never makes mistakes and it had to be our fault. We got a full refund but later in the day, the owner sent is 3 emails insisting he was still right, the last one informing us to never reserve a room with him again. We recommend the same to anyone else. read more
