Peppers and sauces to enjoy with breakfast
    Tim P.

Stopped by here after working up an appetite on our morning walk. We sat outside under an umbrella that was the perfect amount of shade to keep us cool. Our waitress took great care of us. We were welcomed with a small plate of watermelon balls. I ordered the chilaquiles with egg and green sauce and my wife with the red sauce. They gave us picked jalapeños and two sauces for our order. My dish was excellent. Egg cooked perfectly and the green sauce was so good. My wife enjoyed hers with the red sauce. Great breakfast.

Hamburguesa Carne: Sorry, should have taken a picture before my first bite. But I could not wait! AMAZING!

Great food and smoothies! We tried almost everything on their menu and were never disappointed. Many meat-less choises too. I had their hamburger, which was delicious too! You must try the ginger shot! Friendly staff will attend to you with a smile.

Excellent service, and the French toast was amazing. NOTE: cash only; credit cards are not accepted!

Okok I love coffee and let's just say I was a bit disappointed with the coffee options in PVR. Out of all the cafes I tried this was probably the best. I went on my first morning as well as my last in PVR. It still isnt as strong as I'm used to having (very milky cappuccino) but itll be one of the better ones in the area. Service is great and quick and the menu is pretty extensive so it's a good option for brunch! Tried the avo toast one day and acai bowl another. Both were delicious and tasted very fresh!

This is hands down the best breakfast in Puerto Vallarta. Excellent coffee, smoothies, fresh fruits and veggies. Complimentary watermelon balls as an appetizer. Our favorites have been the red sauce chilaquiles, Thai cacahuate bowl, tres quesos sandwich, and camotacos. Douse your food with the chipotle sauce. And you can't leave without a mono loco smoothie. We come multiple times a week when we visit; highly recommend! *important to note cash only*

Here's to the hard working loving ladies at the cafe! Street parking easy to find. Walk ins only. Restrooms available. We got their acai and vegetarian chilaquiles, with soy golden milk and a juice. Everything was great, served w extra care and love.

Calmate Cafe was perfection. The food. The service. You can tell the ingredients were fresh.. the kitchen was immaculately clean. And the women cooking really knew what they were doing. You can taste the love through he food here. I had the breakfast tacos ( no meat ) -- the chipotle sauce is amazing. And the avocado toast was fresh and extremely tasty. I will be back to this place.

Tasty and healthy option in PV! We had a light lunch here of smoothies, juice, and a salad. Smoothies were delicious, salad was ok. Salad was a berry salad with quinoa and bacon and that felt like a weird combination. Everything was really fresh though. Their other food looked amazing but we had an early dinner reservation so we opted for a light option. The ambiance and service was superb! We sat outside and they did a good job having plants block the street so it felt like a garden. Overall would come back to get some of their other food options!

French toast and Breakfast tacos. Awesome.

Best French toast ever! The the bread they use is light and airy and they dip it in some kind of secret French toast sauce that when it Cooks up it's amazing. Covered in fresh fruit like bananas strawberries blueberries with this really good cream sauce on the edges of the bowl to dip it in. I'm not sure it's legal to call this breakfast because it should be dessert without being super sweet.

Seriously the BEST breakfast we had on our trip! I loved the variety on the menu--such a great spot for a healthy and tasty start to the day. I'm still thinking about the smoothie I had, and the coffee was just as amazing. The restaurant itself is simple and cozy (we sat inside), but the food truly stole the show with its beautiful presentation. The portion sizes were generous, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I easily could have eaten here multiple times during our stay!

best chilaquiles i've had in pv!! whenever i'm in vallarta, i always want chilaquiles for breakfast. natureza was my usual spot, but there is always a long wait there so i've been on the hunt for another great spot and this place is it. flavorful salsa, perfectly crunchy chips, and great beans. i'll definitely come back every trip!

There are many wonderful places to eat in Puerto Vallarta, but Calmate continues to be my favorite. The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly. My family loves it!

My new favorite breakfast spot in PV! Everything we had was absolutely delicious, and they have lots of gluten free and vegan options. My matcha latte was absolutely amazing. The staff was friendly and able to answer my allergy questions about the menu too. Cute spot in the 5 de Deciembre area of town and I can't wait to go back next time we visit! Cash only (pesos or usd).

Clearly marked vegan options. Staff aware of what is vegan and what can be made. The vibe inside is clean and really good. The service was really great. And the best part food and beverages - there is nothing we could find that was off. The mini churros were freshly made and came to us within a minute after that. The two vegan dips - peanut butter and strawberry jelly went so well together. The family tells me the condensed milk was very good as well. The Canadiano (black) was amongst the best we have had. The brew was so smooth and tasted just perfect. No bitterness or sourness and the temperature was perfect. The vegan Iced Chai Latte with soy milk was unlike any chai latter we have had. The spices were warm and drink cold and a hint cinnamon, cardamom and cloves - OMG. We were so impressed that we came the very next day and had the same thing again.

ATMOSPHERE: Cool and clean intimate cafe with a few seats. MENU: Salads, paninis, churros, cafe-style beverages and some alcohol. DESSERT: Churro Cup Choose a gelato flavor and topping. I opted for vanilla which went well with the generous amount of mini churros piled on top and declined a topping. The churros had good, creamy flavor, but were a bit too firm for my liking either due to their thinness or simply overcooked. SERVICE: Excellent. Very welcoming and friendly with follow up in between. TIP: Closed on Tuesday's; hours are 1p - 9:50p. OVERALL: Nice variety of churro combinations.

This review is based on the mini workshop aimed at kids…read more I'm thinking the high average rating of this place is from the actual workshops that are not the mini one tailored to kids. The workshop advertises itself as a place to "make chocolate"; I guess I interpreted this a little too literally. The workshop consisted of literally pouring melted chocolate into molds and then adding some toppings like nuts or sprinkles to it. While this was very fun for my daughter who is a toddler, I felt ripped off for this experience. Furthermore, that you aren't even provided enough chocolate to complete your molds is a little disappointing in my opinion. Others in my group seemed to agree. The chocolate itself is very pricy, especially for the quality. It was more expensive than the pricier bars I've seen at Whole Foods. However, if you go to the botanical gardens, this chocolate is sold there but for about 25% more than what is in the shop. It also would have been nice to have had dark chocolate as an option for the experience. I think just having one type (milk chocolate) is an easy way for choco museum to improve. While our host was friendly and informative, it felt like a stretch to call this place a museum. I did learn stuff, but it seems you could only access the "museum" if you paid for a workshop.
