    We were desperate so we stayed. We got evacuated because of a fire and then a mudslide so we were pretty wiped out from being at the Red Cross evac center for days. So we looked and this was the only place with rooms available. It's a motel. And I believe people actually live here by the stuff outside in the parking lot. The younger Indian guy at the front desk was nice I explained our situation and he said I was able to check in at 10:45am instead of the usual 1-4pm. Our room had wood floor instead of carpet so that was nice. Cons: Our blow dryer in our room didn't work but the maid brought us one that did. Our toilet shot out water out of the back every time you flushed. We had to ask for more toilet paper. Every time u turned on ur ac and someone that was smoking walked by it would go into your room. It had a fridge but the freezer part didn't work. Also after myself and 2 daughters showered I noticed a weird light in the bathroom ceiling fan. When we asked the nice maid about it she said "she doesn't know every room has them" then about 5 mins later the manager came and said they were censors for the bathroom. But the fan and light turned on with a switch so i dont know what a censor would be for. So we covered it with paper. It gave us a place to shower and hang out at until 7pm when the evacuation was lifted. Would I come again? Prob not unless we were desperate again.

    Stayed at the Calimesa inn a few times & have always a problem(s). He rooms are furnished with only the bare minimum. Felt dirty & old. A/C -heating unit was broken & the air it did blow was not heated & smelled like mildew & smoke, & the dust- caked filter looked like it had never been changed. Won't waste me money here again.

    Laminate wood floors.  Better than stinky carpet.

    Hey, it's your standard motel....a place to rest your head when you don't want to drive back your house 2 hours away after a wedding reception that you leave around midnight. With that said, don't expect much. We chose this motel for the price and because it was the closest and non-sold out place to the reception. It was a swelteringly hot day in Yucaipa when we arrived in the early afternoon (100F is hot for this wimpy San Diegan), and we were sooo relieved that when we entered our room, it was comfortably cool; the air-conditioning was on full blast. In addition, the room was clean, and our king-sized bed was comfortable. While the furnishings were non-descript and a bit dated, everything was adequate. All we needed was a place for 1/2 hour to change, then to sleep in when we got back. Again, don't expect the Ritz; no sundry store or gift shop. However, the free Wi-Fi worked well and there is a thrift shop nearby. We were cutting it close to being late when husband realized that he forgot a belt (and was uncomfortable without having one) so I yelped the area and found that there's an LDS thrift store adjacent to Calimesa Inn's parking lot. Breezed in, found a $1 belt and wham-bam-thank you ma'am...we're off to the wedding! Possibly a negative, if you don't like white noise: It's off a thoroughfare so you may hear the traffic outside a bit. Also, if you're on the bottom floor, you'll have a view of a brick wall from your window. Free breakfast was cereal (the milk is in the mini fridge), coffee out of a push-button machine, and orange juice; pretty standard fare for the price.

    We did not bring a single bag into the room - I went up to use the restroom and couldn't even bring myself to use it. DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU SEE THE ROOM!! There was sticky grime on the toilet seats - hair on the toilet seat and in the toilet. The toilet itself was filthy. There was a grime dripping down the walls and what looked like maybe a booger stuck to the wall. There was dirt and multiple hairs folded into the hand towels. The tub was filthy. The lock itself was broken. There was food on the floor. We simply went back to the desk and asked for a refund for our charges. They refused! We can't even latch the door!!! Hands down - this is the filthiest hotel - including Hotel 6s along I5 - that have ever seen. I will try to figure out how to post Picts.-- posted just a sample. UPDATED --- I will say this for them, I have checked into another motel up the road and they are almost as bad. Not quite. But just about. Maybe it's the area? Sure, budget is budget, but I just spent 10 minutes with my wipes and made serious improvement. Scary. Tangs Chinese food was awesome- even cold. Too bad we had to wait so long to eat it. Spent quality time with Visa on the phone - looks good that they will ultimately decline the charges. Exhausted and grossed out in SoCal. Will pay the $150 for a holiday inn next time I guess- gotta have a room without drooling stuff on the walls though.

    Nice and clean. Smooth checking and out. Only issue is no coffee in room and vending machine only took quarters.

    Clean and very quiet. They have a quick free breakfast with a waffle maker. Good rates and friendly people running this place.

Unfortunately, it ultimately ends with you having dispute charges with your credit card company even after you have followed all the rules New Spirt Vacation Homes sets outside of the Vrbo platform. Here it is - all spelled out chronologically and can be backed by 40+ messages back and forth with BOTH Niki and Monica, who appear to be the same person, at least in the way they message customers 8/28/2025 $653.35 paid in full for reservation for 3.23.26 - 3.26.26 12/11/2025 New Spirt Vacation Homes removed listing from Vrbo and directed me to view all details on their own website, not via Vrbo which made me very uneasy, so I canceled my reservation per Vrbo's timely allowances. Same day I am messaged by Nikki telling me to fill out an additional refund form outside of Vrbo and that they will take no less than 30 days to complete the refund request per their right with the CA SB 644 (California Senate Bill 644 )which legally allows them to do so. 12/19/2025 The additional email form not received via email from this company. I messaged to inquire and was basically scolded by Nikki and asked why I 'did not advise them earlier that they did not send the form?' Well, because it was not my responsibility to send it! 1/23/2026 More than 30 days past, still no refund. I messaged New Spirit Vacation homes to inquire. I was told by Nikki that "half our accounting dept. is out sick, and I will personally process the refund today." 1/24/2026 Nikki messages me now stating that "Our merchant services account does not allow us to process a refund with charges that are ran over 180 days prior to request so now we need to mail you a check." Keep in mind that the date of purchase was 8/28/2025 and the date I requested a refund was 12/11/2025. Simple math shows this is a lie, as 180 days after purchase date would have been 2/24/2026! 1/24/2026 Messaged a second time by Monica stating that she is "forwarding this request for a check refund to be issued by the CEO and mailed to you today." 1/30/2026 No check received. I message again, Niki this time lies to me stating that "I work night shift, but the check was cut and mailed out yesterday so it should arrive shortly." 2/4/2026 No check received, asked status, no response 2/5/2026 Messaged them a second time, said I will be starting a dispute with my credit card company. 2/6/2026 Next day Niki responded, "I personally tried to run your card (last lie was she mailed refund SAME DAY on 1/30/2026) and it would not allow, I will need to reach out to see what is going on." ******************* THAT WAS THE LAST MESSAGE FROM NEW SPIRT VACATION HOMES, AFTER THAT I INITIATED A DISPUTE WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL THE END OF MARCH 2026 ************* So why am I siting here wasting my 30-minute lunch break typing a novel? Well, remember that neat little California Senate Bill 644 (SB 644) mentioned earlier by Nikki as the reason for not refunding anyone before 30 days; basically 'because they can'? Guess what, it protects us too as consumers from unethical companies like New Spirt Vacation homes that regularly practice cash grabbing, lies, unnecessary delays and harassment with their refund process in hopes you give up and do not fight. I am not the one who gives up easily, so I have officially filled a consumer complaint with the State of California Department of Justice Consumer Complaint Office of the Attorney General I HIGHLY recommend you do so as well if they are taking longer than 30 days to issue your refund which is in a direct violation of the CA SB 644 and punishable with up to $10,000.00 fine. We went with my girlfriend, her sisters, and a couple of friends, expecting a relaxing stay. Instead, we were kicked out the very next day over alleged noise complaints that didn't reflect what was actually happening we were being respectful and not causing any issues. What really crossed the line was that someone entered the property without even knocking first. That felt like a complete invasion of privacy and made us very uncomfortable. On top of that, the way everything was handled was extremely unprofessional. The staff/host came off as rude and dismissive, with no effort to communicate or resolve things properly. Overall, this experience ruined our trip. I would not recommend staying with them if you expect basic respect, privacy, and professionalism.
