Brides Beware! Jesse himself seems like a nice person, however, I would NEVER hire him as a professional again. We hired him to do our wedding photo booth. We were told we'd get a custom background for our film strips, talked about what backdrop he would bring, which camera he was bringing- which would hold 8-10 people, that he himself would be there, and that he would set up an online gallery for us to share the next day or two after the wedding. We ordered the deluxe package that cost hundreds more than the standard package. The day of the wedding, image my surprise when a man I had never met before was there running the photo booth. The film strips were blank, no date, no names, no colored background at all. The backdrop was not brought at all. The camera could only fit 5-6 people, 4 comfortably. It's almost like we hadn't met and talked about all the details at all. The person they sent instead was nice, but had no information about these details. As a bride on her wedding day, no one has time for that crap-o-la. We of course, made the best of it and had fun with it all the same, expecting a discount for not delivering the deluxe package as we had discussed. The rate was not discounted and he did not apologize for the mistakes. Almost felt like he couldn't understand why I was bringing it up and feel foolish for paying him in full. To make matters worse, we didn't get digital copies of the photos until November, almost three full months after the wedding. Also, when I asked about the two packages he had shown me when I hired him, he told me, "there's only one package", which seems dishonest since I recall there being two. Maybe he had changed his policies by the time the wedding had happened, but there were two options when I hired him. read more

I hired jesse after meeting him at hops in Humboldt, I signed up and give him my info for his event book and called me within a week, he emailed me the details to look over and paid half the amount as deposit. Venmo saves lives. I used him for my daughters first birthday party and everyone loved the idea and he came before to set up with a birthday template for the strips and a keepsake strip flip book. Last week our family of four, along with our minerature dachshund, had our very first family potrait taken at Flip's Photos. The owners, Jesse and Susan were very friendly, upbeat, and helped us to relax for our session. They knew just what to do to get our dog's attention (balls work!) so that she would look at the camera. Now - this is important - our dog, Tatiana, decided to take a leak on the floor while no one was watching! Susan and Jesse were so gracious.. they even told us about a cute baby boy who had a similar accident during his photo shoot. It says a lot about people when they care more about their customers' comfort than about the messes the "little visitors" have made. I went to view our photos today, and they were outstanding! I sat on a comfortable couch and watched a slideshow of our family. Jesse was very patient with me as I requested to view them again and again - he was even able to put two side by side on the screen so that I could compare them. It took me awhile to choose the best ones, because they all were so good. Flip's Photos doesn't just do regular photos - you can actually have the photo printed onto a canvas - or you can have it printed onto watercolor paper! The quality is outstanding. I take back my nasty review. If you've got the dough, go for it! For context, some time ago I wrote this nasty review: "Jesse is a nice guy and talented. But he needs to get a clue. It's 2011. You can't have sitting fees and over charge for photos and hold the hi-res images hostage. Charge a reasonable rate, hand over the copyright. Welcome to the modern world. Folks, you should take some pics of your own and goto to an online service for printing. You'll get nearly the same result for 1/10 the price. Or you can encourage Jesse to change his pricing, and we can all make him more successful." Jesse replied and changed his pricing and I'm going to give them another try. We've got a new puppy and need to update the family shot. All seven us will be there in matching wool sweaters. We had used them in the past and were generally please, but were unhappy with the pricing given the changes in how people produce and use media these days. We'll give him another shot. We recently did a family portrait studio sitting with Jessie. He was so great with the kids, getting them to laugh so they had natural smiles rather than fake staged expressions. In fact he had my husband and I laughing too. The result is a beautiful family photo that perfectly illustrates pure happiness. The whole experience, from the photo shoot to purchasing and picking up the prints was fun, easy, efficient, and very professional. I have 4 children and all four of them had school pictures last year taken by Flip's. The two older ones had determined to make their school pictures look like Calvin's from Calvin & Hobbes. Jessie is fabulous! We have had family photos done by professionals and Sears and I am not being kind by giving five stars, Jessie earned every star. We had a session with Jessie in the fall 2012, the resulting photos were great. He has a good formula that made us comfortable and it felt like we were out having a family day, it was quick but not rushed. We loved all the proofs. Jesse Gabriel is a true professional photographer. We asked him to meet us at the Harbor for a photo shoot with 4 kids under the age of 7 years old. He was prompt, great with the kids, and got the shoot done quick so the kids did not lose interest. The kids had fun with him too and it shows in the pictures. Then, he had us meet him at his studio for a beautiful video and photo production of all the photo shoot pictures and helped us through the selection process. We recieved our order within a month and are thrilled with the outcome. We presented a picture collage of the grandkids for my parents 70th birthday and they were in tears. Totally unreliable. We scheduled a family photoshoot with Jesse at a local park. Jesse never showed up. When I called him 30 minutes after our appointment time to find out where he was, he told me he had to take his cat to the vet. He had my phone number, why didn't he call? From reading others' reviews, I get a sense that he doesn't really respect his customers' time. He doesn't understand what it's like to get two little kids (a toddler and a 3-year old) ready, out the door, ON TIME and wait forever, only for him to never show up. No explanation, no apology, no offer to make it up to us. Would never work with this person again. read more

Flip's Photos have been coming to my daughters' school for over 3 years now and we love their photos. The quality is excellent! The photographer is awesome- the way he gets the kids to smile. (Even we can't get those smiles out of them). He is so talented. I could not be happier with the results of the photos and their quality. Every year, I can not decide which ones to buy since they are all so great. I have two daughters at two different school- our older daughter had her pictures taken at school over a month ago and we have YET to see the proofs. We had purchased a Groupon for family photos taken in June 2017. Although he was accommodating to our limited schedule with my step-son home from college for a short visit. We had discussed the options of outdoor or studio and my husband and I preferred outdoor for a more relaxed environment. I had inquired about Wilder Ranch, where the is a large tree that we had thought would be perfect and he had stated that he did not want to do that, due to needing to obtain a permit. I expressed that we wanted to be surrounded by greenery, based on the color scheme of clothing chosen. So with that in mind he suggested Quail Hollow Ranch. We arrived at our scheduled time and he was late, it was a very windy day, and not much greenery as a back drop. We also felt that the session was rushed (30 min) for a blended family of 5. Several weeks after we went to his studio to view our photos. I was unimpressed with the selection and felt pressured to chose. My husband and I chose the best out of what was offered. He had said we got a free app to view and share our photos with family. I paid $400 deposit of the $900(for one large print. We had agreed to pay the balance in 2 additional installments. A short while later our family incurred some unforeseen financial hardship. I had called and spoke with Jesse asking if we could cancel the large print and get a smaller one. Either what was included in our groupon (11x14) or something else with the deposit we had already paid as well as the App he had promised. He stated he understood and said "let's just hold off as it is a family heirloom and we could revisit after the New Year. That time came, I had sent an email with no response, 3 wks later left a voicemail, no response, 2 weeks I called and Jesse answered. I had stated that I had sent an email and left a message and neither got a response. He had checked email and found my email in his Spam folder (odd, as I had sent it from his website). I had said that we were disappointed with the lack of response as well as not receiving the App. I asked about obtaining a refund, he stated he could not as he did not have enough money in his account. Then stated that I signed a contract and was not able to change or be refunded. I said to him that he did not hold up his end of the contract, and felt it unjust for him to hold me accountable, when he was not willing to do the same. Bottom line was he was UNPROFESSIONAL and we lost $400, plus cost of Groupon and have no family photos read more

Groupon alert - make sure you research website/pricing first before hand and read the fine print. Not in my wildest dreams (or nightmare) did I figure it would be over $900 to receive a CD of digital photos once we got our pictures taken. Prepare yourself for a full court press of sales/packages which are grossly overpriced during your pre-photo session. Spend over 2k on my son's 1st birthday pictures...I think not!! read more

Finally got my girls in for a photo session. I was a bit nervous never having done a professional sitting with them. He was calm and worked patiently with me to get them into good poses and catch who they really are. When they acted up Jesse took it all in stride. Susan is great, too.
