After several quotes from different siding and decking companies, we decided to go with RK Siding to help with both projects! Roman from RK Siding came out and presented a very fair and competitive bid for the siding work. He also recommended a decking contractor that he has used for many years. After receiving both incredible bids for all the work needed, Roman offered many options with color, style, and type of cement board siding! We ended up getting the primer (unpainted) siding and had his paint offer a bid to paint the entire house. This, by far, was the best option for us! We got to pick out our own colors for the siding, trim, eves and front door! Roman coordinated all the work, material for all three contractors and payment to each! We cannot be more happy with all the work and end result! Roman & RK Siding is the company to use for any siding needs and combination of house projects you may need.

I hired this company to remove and replace a front porch deck at my home in South Lake Tahoe…read more The good points: They were responsive when I called and provided an estimate that was reasonably priced. Started the job as per our agreement. Showed up everyday as planned. Used good materials. The payment schedule was reasonable and provided me with a more secure feeling because the payments did not get ahead of the completed work. They did not give me a bad time when I told them that the steps and pavers were incorrectly installed. The not so good: Very difficult to communicate with the workers because English is their second language. Rather than having a concrete truck deliver concrete with the correct water to cement mix they mixed all the foundation concrete in a five gallon bucket with initially way too much water. One footing alone required more than thirty 50 lb bags of concrete. I had to force them to mix it correctly, because a wet mix is much weaker than a correct dry mix. They had to redo the steps because they installed them incorrectly as well as the pavers. Only doing so after I discovered the problem. They should have realized the problem without my input. I am a retired contractor and felt that I had to do way too much supervision or else the end result was not going to be good. The project ended up OK but not without a whole lot of my time, input, supervision and a lot of stress. These guys are just starting out and I understand that a new company will have to work out the bugs. If I had to do it again I would have gladly paid more money for a more competent and established company.

He showed up right on time and was extremely respectful and knowledgeable. Allard is very detail oriented and his repair work is impeccable!!! This is the 3rd or 4th time I have hired him - after my first experience with him, I was pleased - BUT I couldn't find his number - then I made the mistake of looking in the phonebook for a contractor. BAD choice. Once I located Allards info again, I made sure to NEVER lose it. It's hard to find a reliable contractor these days - but with my dealings with Allard (The owner), I not only found a reliable contractor, I found one that does IMPECCABLE work! If you are looking for bids for any repairs or you just want to hire someone you know will do an awesome job - do yourself a favor, just call Allard. All of your worries will be over!! (To bad 5 stars is the highest rating, I would've given him more!!!)

I got an interesting PM from Allard Parfitt after my review here on Yelp. It departs notably from…read morehis comment on my first review (below). Among other things, he spoke of how his free estimates are not free of cost to him - the implied message being that its okay if he doesn't show-up for those estimates, or return phone calls regarding them. He closed by pointing out that I "owe him the courtesy of a response." Perhaps I do. So to that end, this update. Re the Free-Estimate Thing: Allard, I understand that you offer free estimates as a courtesy to potential clients, and I understand that such a policy contains hidden costs for you. But that does not absolve you of responsibility for showing-up at those estimates, or barring that, calling the client and notifying him that you won't be there. Its an issue of professionalism, not the economics of the policy itself. Re the Courtesy Comment: It perplexes me that you bring up what courtesies you're entitled to when our primary issue is that you were a no-show, no call. A little courtesy from you would have spared us both this whole ordeal - all that was required was a brief phone call from you: "Sorry, Man. I've thought about it and it doesn't look like I'll be able to take the job at your place. Best of luck finding another repairman." That's it. Other reviewers have had the same no show, no call problems with you, Allard. I recommend that you pick up the phone and communicate with your clients and potential clients a little more . . . just a suggestion.

He listened when we explained what we wanted to repair, respectfully made recommendations, walked around the entire house to make sure all repair spots were noted. Their quote was reasonable and included siding and paint. Ivan answered all my questions regarding roof tiles and what would happen if the damage extended beyond the siding. They scheduled the work to start the very next day and Alex and David were on time and friendly. David introduced himself and Alex, and they answered multiple questions I had while they worked. The work itself was top quality. They were careful when removing the old siding to not disturb other parts of the house. They installed the new siding and sealed every joint and nail head before painting. The paint matches perfectly. And they did it all in two days! After they were done they took special care to clean up, picking up every scrap of debris. I've never had contractors clean up after themselves so well. It shows they really care about their customers. I would use Cali Siding and Windows again in a heartbeat.
