I booked an appointment with Jake and he delivered Big time! He's very personable and knowledgeable. I have longer hair so we discussed what he thought would look good considering my hair type. So, I called this spot to get a haircut same-day, they let me know on arrival that typically I should book three weeks out. But, they could see me in five minutes. I came in, jumped in the seat, admittedly, didn't need much of a cut because I'm growing my hair out. So, I asked him to just clean up the sides above the ears and he did it. No fade, no complicated haircut. He told me he was finished, didn't clean up my eyebrows, clean up my face at all, and when I asked for him to clean them up he told me he didn't have enough time and that would be $80. Mind you, I don't mind the price, but the experience was pretty shotty. No shampoo or attempt to even clean up loose hair on shorts or shirt. I did get a sparkling water, and they had some cool tattoos that made them look kind of bad ass. I guess. I asked why it was so expensive and they said they have a lot of talented barbers, maybe I didn't have enough time, but then why even seat me? Three week wait sounds weird. I could of had someone come to my house and cut my hair for $100 and it would of been unrushed and bomb. Just a waste of money. If the experience was there I'd be back. Active Barber is $40, with tip I pay $60. A much better experience though. Barber was nice. 20 min haircut. Having to ask to clean up the hair on my face; eyebrows, beard line..I mean they do it with a razor blade at good spots. Didn't even do it without me asking...I'd say cut was rushed, no attention to detail and quasi shifty. Quality of space there, coffee machine is nice. Vibe, off a lot for the price. I give it a two because of the aesthetics of the location. Only redeeming quality. read more

Always has done a great job for weddings, styling, and the maintenance cut. Besides Robert at this place. The Men's Groomer brand of hair products are amazing as well, and I use frequently. Usually haircuts are a means to an end for me; I go in knowing I won't be happy but know that my hair just needs to be shorter. I walked into THEMENSGROOMER and was immediately welcomed into their laid-back, professional atmosphere. I gave Dan Mollison a vague description of how I want my hair medium length and pushed back and let him work his magic. This is the first time since moving to Los Angeles that I've walked out of a barbershop completely satisfied and confident with my hair. This is not a budget, quick-clip shop for amateur barbers to get some reps in. The shop is dope. All the stylists are dope. Great vibe and great cuts. Robbert Maldonado is my guy! This is after my second cut with him. Many times I've gotten a great cut with someone only to be disappointed by lack of consistency when repeat. This cut was better than the first as we discussed not only the cut for the this appointment but what approach we think we can go with my hair in the future to achieve a great cut for immediate future and setting up for future cuts. Takes a great stylist/barber to see that and execute phenomenally. I watched the other groomers work and they are all class. It's an expensive cut, yes. But worth every penny in my opinion. You pay for the time to fill the chair and get a great cut. It's not rushed- it's done when it's done and you will be stoked. That much should be expected for the price but the pride taken is true professionalism. I'll pay for that peace of mind any day. Also, follow their IG and you'll see all the dope shit they do outside the shop for less fortunate. Maybe some of my money goes to fund those endeavors in which case I'm even more happy to pay! I took my 13 year old to get a cut, as his hair has grown very long since covid. My son does some acting and we had pictures from his headshots, I asked the hair stylist (I think her name was Lindsey?) if she could cut it similar to the photos of him from 9 months or so earlier. She looked at the photos and made a snap judgment and insisted that she knew what he was about and he had to have long hair and long bangs and that the style I showed of the pictures of him didn't suit him at all, these were pictures that got him work and even worse she said it in front of him not even considering how that would make him feel... I expressed that we needed to get new headshots and also he needed to show his face for the camera work and the hair couldn't cover his face and she said he could tuck it behind his ear. I told her he hated using gel and product and she thought he was old enough to learn to use it. She asked to just cut it and then see, which I said ok but after she was done I said it doesn't look much different then when we walked in and she said to live with it for a week or so and if it didn't work then come back. Very inconvenient especially with covid and why would I go back to her if she ignored my concerns before. Very disappointing that the girl couldn't understand kid, parent dynamics and argued she knew best in front of my son and couldn't provide what was requested and insisted she knew his needs better then I. Now I feel like I need to go get his hair cut again so it could be okay for the photos. The person at front desk was nice and I can't speak for the other stylists but I would not recommend our stylist since she couldn't read the room or listen to the customer. read more

Best haircut I have ever had and the salon is super cute! I have been hesitant to get a haircut because covid but the salon felt very spacious, distanced and safe. Mariah is the only person I trust with my hair and every time I leave an appt with her I feel so beautiful! I wanted to take 4-5 inches off (quarantine) and try bangs. To know me is to know I love long hair, but I was ready to try something different. I am OBSESSED with my new shoulder length hair and she gave me a gorgeous blowout after.
