My daughter was so excited she even came home to continue playing dentist and asked to brush her teeth again! Your office contacted me to confirm the appointments, so I assumed everything was scheduled correctly. When I arrived, I was told the orthodontist doesn't work on Mondays. If that's the case, why was the orthodontic consultation scheduled on a Monday in the first place? I had to arrange childcare for my younger child and take time out of my day to be here, only to be told I'll have to come back another day. This was completely avoidable and feels like a significant waste of my time. I understand that mistakes happen, but this seems like a scheduling issue that should have been caught either when the appointment was made or during the confirmation. I hope you'll review your scheduling process so this doesn't happen to other families.

My middle child has been seeing him for the past 2 years, and my youngest has just started. The staff is very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable, and the environment is well-maintained and clean. I have no complaints about that. However, my concern lies with the doctor himself. Over the last 1.5 years, I've noticed a change in Dr. Staveris. Perhaps he's getting older or tired, but he seems to lack patience with his patients, especially pediatric patients aged 5 to 6 years old. As you know, children of this age can't hold still for long periods and may become fussy if a procedure lasts longer than 10-15 minutes. They simply can't stay still for more than 5-7 minutes. About a year ago, I witnessed Dr. Staveris becoming aggressive and raising his voice at my middle child when she was making sounds of discomfort during a procedure and trying to communicate (with her mouth open) that she needed a break due to pain. Today, for the second time, I observed his aggression towards my 5-year-old son, who was struggling to cope with the dental procedure. I was shocked to see Dr. Staveris shouting at my young child when he was trying to express, with his mouth open, that he was in pain after being scratched by a tool and needed a break to rest his mouth And one more thing, Dr. Staveris likes to talk to his assistant during the procedure, discussing personal matters. Instead of focusing on the task at hand and utilizing time efficiently while the tooth is numb, he engages with his assistant. As a result, precious time is wasted, leading to the need for a second shot to numb the tooth because the initial time allotment has expired. These are disappointing factors. We have decided not to return to Dr. Staveris. Apologies, Doc :( - Note: the Yelp removed my review, saying that I did not have experience at this location. There are many things about this dentist (and staff) that I would rave about - the ambiance, the games and toys for kids, or the incredible decorative way they have set it up... all of these things are spectacular, however, it was the consistently kind way they approach EVERYONE both in the lobby and in back in the examination area. Regardless of his initial doubts, he was treated kindly, gently, and expeditiously and I cannot be more grateful. I very much enjoyed and appreciated the kindness and personality of both the hygienist and the dentist - both were incredible and both deserve numerous compliments. I appreciated their great advice as well as the gentle way they gave it - my wife and I aren't the greatest at having the kids brush, but the wonderful way they understood the difficulties with kids and they way they expressed it was truly appreciated. Extremely Disappointing Experience at Western Dental…read more I went to Western Dental at 5247 Elkhorn Blvd, Sacramento, expecting a free braces consultation. Nobody explained that I would be charged for X-rays or told me I was purchasing a cash plan. The doctor briefly examined my teeth and gave me an estimate for braces. When I questioned the charge, the staff told me it was for X-rays, but my itemized bill listed it as "Plan Batch Sale." Even an associate appeared confused about why I had been charged. I overheard the manager telling the associate not to tell me something, which made me question the transparency of the situation. The manager was extremely rude and could not clearly explain the charge. Instead of answering my questions and providing supporting documents, I felt dismissed and disrespected for simply asking about my own bill. If Western Dental advertises free consultations, patients deserve to know exactly what is free and what costs extra before receiving any service. The conflicting explanations, lack of transparency, and unprofessional treatment were unacceptable. I strongly recommend asking for all costs in writing before agreeing to anything at this office.

I had a tooth surgically extracted and later discovered that my bill included an additional $820 charge for Guided Tissue Regeneration (D7956). I do not recall this procedure or its $820 cost being explained to me before treatment, nor was I told that I could be responsible for the entire amount. I contacted the office in writing and asked for an explanation and an opportunity to resolve the matter. After receiving no satisfactory response, I filed a formal grievance with my dental insurance plan. My concern is not simply the amount of the bill. Patients should understand what procedures are being performed, why they are necessary, what they will cost, and what insurance is expected to cover before treatment whenever circumstances permit. I would have preferred to resolve this directly with the dental office. I am posting this review because my attempts to do so have not resolved the issue. I will update this review if the office responds and the matter is satisfactorily addressed.
