Imagine you live on a drive with 1 neighbor for 10 years. Peace and tranquility ends when a…read moredeveloper selects the 50 acres of property adjacent to you to develop a dense residential development. Trucks & machinery shake your house for 6 months as the landscape is changed. One day, you look out your front window to see a construction trailer pulled right in front of your house, directly across the street from you. What? Why would this company choose to put their construction headquarters, complete with an orange porter potty directly in front of our home? Do they not have some spot on the 50 acres they can setup camp? As they are pulling the trailer into position - I kindly asked if they could put it in another location. The foreman kindly says, "ah... we'll be here just month is all". I said to myself.. "fine... I guess I can deal with it." First month goes by, second month... The months go by, the trailer and construction site remain. It started back in February, now it is June 10th. Construction trailer is still there.. nobody seems to be using it now - weeds and grass growing around it - it's beautiful. I have called the company several times - same answer - "we'll move it soon." It is clear this company has zero care for the residents that have to live around and amongst their developments. As someone who feels "bulldozed over" I felt compelled to write this review.

There are a few…read morehouses near that street, many with young children, and as Steve said, only two on the actual street, making it safe for the kids and I to walk on. It's always been a quiet, friendly area where neighborhood kids played--like you hear about kids in the '50s. As the construction started, I was shocked to see the aforementioned trailer and portable bathroom immediately in front of one of the two homes, especially when the street had been extended so much. As the kids and I continued walking, there was litter: metal aerosol cans on the side of the road or half buried, soda bottles, wrappers...things I'd never seen on this road before Dykstra Excavating arrived. The kids were upset, telling me that "those people ruined it!" I didn't want them touching any of the debris, so we turned back. It's so sad, and I can't imagine how hard it is for the homeowners suddenly having a public restroom at the end of their driveway or their once-picturesque neighborhood filled with loud machinery and trash; there goes the resale value, eh? How do you even sell homes there? Who would want to live there? It makes me think of Ernest Goes to Camp; I half expected angry neighborhood children to start launching parachute-clad turtles onto the ill-placed trailer and port-a-john. I'm surprised to see a local business acting so carelessly.
