This review isn't just necessarily just fior the post office but the whole of Caldey Island.
We've been to C.I. twice now on beautiful sunny days and it's a cracking day out.
Catch the boat from Tenby harbour to get across to the island. The lazy ones can then get a tractor ride 300 yards to the main area but it's a pleasant walk so don't bother.
The central area is where you find the actual abbey, the post office, play area, cafe and shop. It's all very nice and this is where most of the visitors remain.
If you then carry on up the hill there are old buildings to look around and also the shop to buy the monks special chocolate.
Carry on up the hill towards the lighthouse and there is sometimes a fete or something on.
Just after that is a flat area before it gets to the rear cliffs. This is the best bit of the island for me as you sit here in the sunshine, having your picnic and you've got a panoramic view of the sea and across to Lundy Island. It takes your breath away.
When you can drag yourself away from that head back down to the boat but then nip on the beach. It's quite sandy and there's rock pools etc if you walk the furthest way from the boat.
It's a lovely place to come, you'd really enjoy it, especially with your family on a hot day. read more
