Goloritze was WAY overcrowded with people on the beach and boats in the water. Made it impossible to relax and have a good day there without feeling like people were breathing down your neck everywhere you turn. Would probably pass next time I go back to Sardegna.

Lino, the man that works here is very kind and clearly explains everything in the office and then his team members who help you onto the boat clearly explain everything there as well. The water here is unbelievably clear and gorgeous - we enjoyed being out in the deep blue part on our own and jumping in the water just as much as getting close to the shore line where the water is more turquoise. Online, their website says from 70 euro/day, but Lino explained that this is only in off season. In August, apparently it's 250 euros/day, but we didn't show up until almost noon so he gave it to us for the rest of the day (til 6pm) for 150 euros. When you come back, you pay for the gas needed to refill - for us this was 25 euros. And expect a long line at 6pmish (though the company will help you with this part). They offer you an umbrella and a cooler, so bring ice and drinks/snacks. Boat has a shade and also places to store things that need to stay dry. An amazing day in Sardinia!

"Il Poetto" IS Cagliari's beach, and a long strand at that, and many city bus lines run alongside…read moreit, so getting here is easy. The layout reminds me of L.A.'s strand of beaches. This long strand is anchored at its southern end by la Sella del Diavolo (the Devil's Saddle) which is a promontory, though not as imposing and extensive as Palos Verdes. The beach continues as a strand for miles, without any foothills behind it, and then makes a bend which is backed by foothills, the same way that the Palisades and Malibu do along Pacific Coast Highway in L.A. The difference is that the layout is a mirror image, or reversed. There's a lot of space at lengthy Il Poetto. It does not feel crowded. The water is warm, the surf is mild, and the color is appealing and clear, though not crystalline. Again, if you are doing the real tourist thing in search of crystalline coves and a tourist scene, you'll be on a ferry or a low-cost flight to northeastern Sardinia, at the Costa Smeralda, where Porto Cervo is the feather in its cap. But, if you are in low-key Cagliari, the island's capital in Sardinia's south, you will find that this a great beach in a city that has everything you need and very little hype, thus making it very relaxing.

I was expecting a little clearer than it was based on glowing tripadvisor reviews, but we came in the busiest time of year (mid-August), so that may have been partly why. 10 Euros to park for the day, or 5 Euros of half day (10:30 - 4). Cash only! Bathrooms are portapotties with no sink. There is one bar/cafe and the local Sardinian beer is 3 Euros a bottle, so plan ahead and bring your own ;). Not much else here! For being down a long winding dirt road, I thought there might be fewer people than there were - it was pretty concentrated with people, though again this is probably unavoidable in August at any beach in sardignia.
