They denied me to open the account in Santander bank because I was born in the city of Krasnoyarsk in 1954. Now this city belongs to Russia. At the time of my birth there was no country called Russia! I was born in USSSR! The country that now called Russia was born at the end of 1990 after the collapse of USSR! However, I left the city of my birth at the age of 8 in 1963! After that I lived for 33 years in Belarus before leaving to the USA IN 1996 where I lived for 26 years. I have zero relation to Russia at all! I am a citizen of the USA and I never had a citizenship of Russian Federation that people called just Russia! However, the management of Santander bank didn't open account for me because they think that I am a Russian and citizen of modern days Russian Federation! They think that if the person was born on the territory that now is Russia - that person is Russian and the citizen of modern Russian Federation! I think the management of the Santander bank is just stupid and badly educated! They don't understand that place of birth say nothing about the person's ethnicity nor about person's citizenship! They don't understand that person who was born on some territory could be any ethnicity and any citizenship like be Chinese by ethnicity and French by citizenship!!!

However, when you reach the stage of having your property appraised, prepare for a nightmare. In my case, the so-called independent appraisal company undervalued my property by a staggering €50,000 due to a miscalculation of the apartment's area. And let me tell you, according to their evaluation, you count buy an apartment in a village, let alone in Lisbon. Even after I provided updated documentation that clearly proved the error, they refused to correct it. To make matters worse, Millennium Bank then offered me the option to pay an extra €250 for another "independent" appraisal--or simply move my account to a better bank. This experience has been extremely disappointing and frustrating.

Like the request never goes through because the representative "forget", or going back to the bank three times to sign the same documents because the representative forgot where they needed signatures, or after two month of setting transfer and getting confirmation (that it was sent out) it still hasn't gone through and having to go back to sign the transfer request document again. Their level of service is really disgusting.
