In the morning, this place gets really crowded by locals who are coming for a quick espresso before going to work. I ordered a cafe americano (which is regular coffee) and a sandwich with prosciutto and cheese, which was pretty descent. They also make fresh squeezed orange juice which actually looked pretty good and have waters and other beverages to go.

Beautiful sea themed purse of art on each table. OMG. We did the tasting menu. Just drool over the pictures ... My only complaint? Fortunately, this cute hotel is was no more than an 8-9 € taxi ride away from the airport, was highly recommended online, and was worth it in every way. Inexpensive. Clean. Modern. Amazingly friendly. We got to the hotel around 6:30am and the night doorman let us in and immediately let us tuck all our luggage away in a corner of the lobby. When we explained things to him, he told us that we could have a room by 10:00am. Until then he let us wait in the comfy lobby. When breakfast rolled around we went and enjoyed that. By the time we were done it was only 8:30, but the cleaning crew had cleaned up one of the rooms early and we were allowed to move in! This was amazing for us, as it allowed us to get back to sleep for a while, seeing as we had gotten up ridiculously early to make our imagined plane. The room was wonderful, and the check out was easy. They also set up a taxi for us for our trip to the airport the next morning. While they did not charge for this, you should know that a very early morning taxi ride costs double... According to the taxi driver.

Doesn't exactly sound appealing, but here's the thing... everything in Italy tastes good... even gas station food! Spizzico pizza is actually very good and better than some large pizza chains we have here in North America. Another interesting note about pizza in Italy is that pepperoni is generally not a topping they offer, but Spizzico does! At a glance the logo and presentation of the pizza looks similar to Pizza Pizza marketing we have here in Canada. But make no mistake, Spizzico, the Italian gas station pizza is better! ;)

I've known it as a reliable establishment for good pizza, but recently I was told that its coffee and pastry offerings were, too, at that level. After a few tastings of cappuccino, sweets and pizzas, I must say, now empirically, that La Locanda is the go-to-spot in this neighborhood for a quick breakfast or a pizza stop. The cappuccino is undeniably good, like many other places in the area. Its porcini and truffle pizza is fantastic - for a value that is just as easy to digest (as someone accustomed to Manhattan prices). But note that they only serve pizza for dinner. My most recent lunch visit allowed to try and now attest to the deliciousness of its homemade bread and the clam pasta. All in all, every visit has met and/or exceeded my expectations so far.
