(Last visited December 6, 2023.) Hanging out in Hamburg, Germany on business and I came here back…read morein January with my wife along with her mother. We really enjoyed ourselves so when I came back 11 months later I vowed to come and explore more of their menu! Here's why I came back... Atmosphere/Appearance: The outside is pretty uneventful as it blends in with the scenery around it, but inside is very bright, yellow, dated and that's kind of the point of this Portuguese-based restaurant. It felt more like a house/apartment that had been converted into a restaurant, but it still worked well. It was cozy and not too noisy inside. Service: Raul is the son of the owner and he was running things that both nights that we dined here. He took excellent care of me and made sure I had everything that I needed. Food: So this is a tapas style restaurant which is my favorite style of eating. It allows you to just sample and try so many different things instead of having to decide on just one big meal. The complimentary bread came out and I attacked it. The butter was so soft, creamy, garlicky and delicious. It was damn-near perfect and had a hint of chives in it. Your breath will be rank after it, but it is what it is. Lol. We started with the shrimp empanadas, which were crispy, creamy, flavorful and just utterly delicious. Next up I tried their wings! They are a bit on the smaller side, but they were crazy flavorful! They're served in a garlic sauce in a clay dish. They were crispy, flavorful, juicy, hot and really impressed me. It was hard to find good wings in Hamburg, but this place nailed them. Next up was the crab bisque that was priced so cheaply I thought it was a scam. Lol. Crab is usually pretty expensive, but I went for it anyway, especially compared to lobster bisque. It was decently creamy, had plenty of crab chunks in it, was temperature hot and there were SO MANY flavors poppin' off in this dish. I was a huge fan. Next up was the quail. I am a HUGE fan of quail, which is just pretty random in itself. Lol. This was a visually appealing dish as well, but it's served with some steamed vegetables alongside and is served with the same garlic sauce the wings came in. Naturally, I loved this dish and the quail was way more tender than the wings were. I was also was able to try a sort of ice cream on my first visit that's actually served in a scallop shell and looked like a scallop, but was sweet, decadent and just a great way to switch to sweet flavors from the savory and salty. Last, but not least, I was able to try their Portuguese tiramisu! Another beautiful dish consisting of sweet cream, cocoa powder sprinkled on top and it was so amazing. The textures were everything. Dense, yet creamy, flavorful and another great way to conclude the dinner. Value: VERY good value in here. Nothing breaks the bank, not even the bottles of wine and everything is priced for like, the average middle-class person to be able to have a good time here exploring the menu. In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and you can see why I hit this place up twice in 2 years when I live thousands of miles away. Lol. Make your way here to experience what I did and tell Raul The Hungry Road sent you!

BUT I'M SURE IT'S REALLY EXPENSIVE :D I think if I'd know the prices, I would pretty much give it ZERO stars hahahah. kidding :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, what we always got was: HUGE SCAMPIES ROASTET IN OIL + ALCOHOL served in huge flames A PLATE WITH DIFFERENT FISH FILETS + a unique secret sauce made by Franco STEAK, small peaces of steak with different sauces. and more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Honestly I don't remember it all but I know you get a lot, and all the seafood you get are really really delicious. I remember I dropped the whole steak I picked it up and still ate it, that's how good it was. But I was drunk anyways haha. LOCATION: Very very small, I guess about 20 people max. I lived in Portugal for a few months, and I can attest that the food here is authentic. My mates and I drove from Hannover on a Sunday to visit Neuengamme and see some of Hamburg. I found only a few places that were open on Sundays, but since this one was open and I liked the seafood back in Portugal, I chose this place for us. The menu is fixed and guests could choose seafood or surf-and-turf. These came in 3-course or 4-course varieties. We chose two of the seafood 4-course meal and one of the surf-and-turf 4-course. The appetizer was prawns brought out in a flaming pan - cooked just right and served with bread and olives. Next was a white fish cutlet with vegetables and a sauce that looked like chimichurri, but tasted a little different. Between the courses, the server invited us back to the bar where we could look through their selection of spirits. We could choose one drink - on the house! We found a Portuguese almond liquor and took three. We returned to our table where the next course was three different kinds of fish prepared three different ways plus scallops (or if you ordered surf-and-turf, a piece of rabbit). I ordered the seafood and my favorite was the seared piece of tuna. Both the seafood and the rabbit were served with vegetables and potatoes. We took a little break during this course to be serenaded by the band going from table to table. They played well and the passion for their music made dinner that night all the better! Dessert was a chocolate cake with fresh fruit and a bottle of honey rum that the server set on the table and said we could drink as much as we liked. Being this generous with liquor and portion sizes means this was not a cheap meal, but it is well worth the price! Oh, and when we left, the house gave us a free bottle of red wine to-go! Needless to say, if I ever return to Hamburg, I will be back here.
