A satisfactory first meal in Marseilles. The city in general is quite hilly, and the walk to this cafe was no exception - definitely some uphill moments. The inside of the cafe is cozy but small - most of the tables can seat 2 or 3 people. There's also ample outdoor seating, although it was a bit chilly on the Tuesday afternoon we came. Despite it being 2pm, the inside was pretty packed, and the servers were definitely occupied.
We ordered the squid with garlic and parsley, Caesar salad with chicken, and duck confit with potatoes. Because the restaurant was so packed, the food did take quite a while to come. The squid was chewy, and the generous amount of garlic and parsley made it super fragrant and aromatic - I enjoyed! The Caesar salad offered a large portion of chicken, although the chicken truthfully pretty dry, and the salad in general was a bit bland - probably would not get this one again. The duck confit was tender and had a crispy outside; it was cooked quite well, and I also enjoyed how it came with some greens! The potatoes were also crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside.
I've heard their breakfast options are delicious, so I'd like to try breakfast/brunch here in the future. read more
